So if the order were $20/no tip, I would have absolutely taken it as long as the miles and drop off area made sense. Label my money what you want. Base pay, tip… income is all the same. I don’t think I’ve ever gotten an order to 10 plus dollars that was no tip, but if I did and it made sense I would take it. At least in my market no tip order are usually less than $4. Now on Instacart, I never shop and deliver no tip orders. Sorry, but I’m not going through all that for a no tip. I’ve shopped and delivered to fixed income seniors that could put together 5 bucks for a tip.

We dont feel entitled to someones time, we're sick of padding the pockets of millionaires so they can continue paying their employees less than minimum wage. As someone who worked multiple jobs where i relied on tips to live, i can safely say the only people who still tip automatically are idiots who once again have been suckered into footing the bill for people with far more money than them. I agree. Personally I can't stand doordash drivers. The job is literally a cherry job where they take advantage of all the companies workers that have contracts with doordash. The employees get to work harder making more difficult orders because people customize the heck out of them, forcing workers to stare at a make screen 5 times to get a single cheeseburger correct. (Something you wouldn't have the guts to order in person). Then we get to watch some driver who thinks they have a real job waltz into our stores, and collect a bag and then go sit back in their car and cry about the "poor tip" they got. We don't get paid any extra money to make sure you have some cupcake. Job. How about getting a real job instead of being lazy in a car?

That logic should apply to busses, public transport, company owned delivery services ( eg dominoes etc) Door dashers did it while expecting lower pay, due to multiple company inflicting your pay and door dash having to pay you, themself and their servers, while probably having to pay other restaurants on stuff. Being on a single restaurant gives more base pay and most people know that. You had a choice, and now you have to live with that choice.

I had a order that was paying $3 and had no tip( I use a third party app that tells me how much doordash is paying me and how much the customer tipped) it was going to be 5.7 miles. It was a pickup from Chipotle and the drop off was to a very high-end hotel. I accepted only because I was going to message the customer and tell him I am absolutely not going to deliver his order because he did not tip. Mind you the total came out to over $80. So I accepted the order, picked it up, and I see that the drop off instructions said leave at my door, it included the hotel room number, and also said "you MUST leave the order at my hotel door. If you leave it at the front desk it is not delivered and I will report to doordash that my food was never delivered" so I called the customer up, and when he answered I said hello this is (inserted my name) I'm you're doordash delivery driver. First words out of his mouth after that were how long you going to take to deliver my food. I told him that I was not delivering his order for a couple of reasons. I told him that if you can afford over $80 worth of food, you can afford the fancy hotel room, but apparently you decided you couldn't afford to tip anything . The second thing is if I deliver the food to the front desk, is in fact delivered despite you're opinion. He said then I can take the risk of dropping it off at the front desk and losing my job. I told him no sir you misunderstand me I'm not going to deliver your order because one you didn't tip on a $80 plus meal you ordered. Not delivered no matter where I deliver it. You said that was fine that he was going to wait until I unassign myself from the order and then tip bait the next driver. I said okay. Mind you Chipotle was going to close in 15 minutes. Apparently the customer wasn't smart enough to know how to cancel his order. So I waited 30 minutes past when Chipotle close in unassigned myself from the order. And wouldn't you know about 5 minutes after I unassigned myself from the order, an offer came in to pick up from Chipotle and drop off to the exact same hotel, the offer was $35. I accepted the order and immediately marked myself as arrived at restaurant because I was still in the parking lot, got in touch with doordash driver support staying at the restaurant was closed and they gave me full half pay. Quickest and easiest $15 I've ever made.

Can't afford to tip? Go to the restaurant and order in person. Don't have a car? Use public transportation. Can't afford the fare? Use a bike. Can't walk? Every time I turn around , it slips further down and I can’t get on the app . These delivery apps charge the customers a lot amount of fees for the drivers to deliver a order. It depends on the distance from the store too the customers house. The drivers don't get paid enough to deliver the orders
Every person who wants food at the entrance to their door is a luxury and you pay for luxury and if you don't have it, then don't give yourself that luxury
I am the customer who recognizes and appreciates service to my door. I'm rated at 80% disability by the VA, and I'm always in a great of pain from head to toe. I have tipped well and in advance of receiving my order. However, drivers never, and I do mean NEVER want to follow simple instructions. It's their shoddy, careless customer service that has me changing my tipping habits.
@@elleg.7880 If you are adding directions, information, requests, etc for the delivery driver, just know that they cannot view them until they've actually picked up your food and are heading to your address. So, if someone asks in the delivery comments for their drink to be made without ice, the driver can't see that until after they've picked up your order. If you have a request that concerns the preparation or packaging of your food, after placing the order, call the restaurant and tell them.

I’ve done orders like these and have gotten a handsome tip in person I’ve also done these and have gotten nothing it doesn’t matter at the end of the day I look at the guy next to me and I realize I’m blessed to be able to work

A strategy i use is.. I go to the restaurant and wait 10 mins + and then i select “Wait times too long” so my completion rate doesn’t get effected 😂 i do this for these cases or for my acceptance rate to not go lower than 70% when bs orders come my way

I been broke and still never didn't leave a tip I always at least tipped something and that was before I started dashing now I always leave a bigger tip when I order. Another huge issue not frequently talked about is long wait times. Anything more than 10 minutes is not worth waiting. I do not like leaving a restaurant empty-handed especially for a high paying order. Some restaurants will give an estimated 30 minutes to an hour to no estimated time. I have had discussions with such merchants why they don't have tools to add additional preparation time. One such merchant told me on average drivers arrive 10 to 15 minutes before the order is ready. And most drivers walk out before 10 minutes. We get updates on the app all the time but merchants need updates on the app when their business is swamped or they're just really behind

Pay by time sends me on a 17 Mile hike for a single coffee for customer that didn't tip who probably ordered from the wrong location as I probably passed several restaurants on my way to their house. And those orders definitely are not worth the time or up to par.
It baffles me the amount tof ppl ordering meals with increase fees but can't tip 10% at least. This is why food delivery is the last hustle I do catering is where it's at but they come amd go randomly not consistent

I had a delivery the other day for $4.50 near by drop off and I took it anyways. Yet knew the guy didn’t tip. I got to his complex and got mad at me for not seeing him outside and even told me. I confronted him saying “thanks for the big tip.”

I do late night McDonald’s orders from closed stores that Uber will jack up to 30 40 sometimes $50 after a few cancellations. Accept and instantly check the order before moving. Can’t do this on DD plus they never jack the amount. If the order is small I go to an open McDonald’s and pay on my app. Then you still have to drive to the original closed store to activate the pickup. I’m in a college city with 7 stores and only 3 open past midnight, but the orders keep coming from the closed all night. This has worked for over two years.

I would usually agree.. however. I was put on bed rest due to complications with my pregnancy and I can’t drive right now due to the complications. I am very blessed and can afford to use delivery apps and tip, however, I have wondered what someone would do in my position who couldn’t afford it and had no one to help them. Just a thought 🤷♀️

Problem is that I rarely ever know there is no tip until after I deliver the order. Most customers don't tell you up front that they're not giving a tip. (I drive "by time" not "by order.")

They could be sick or have a disability or have a broken car, which is far more expensive to fix than to buy a burger. They may not have someone to be able to help them go shopping if they are sick or disabled. You never know a person situation. With that said, you’re entitled to do whatever you want, just don’t judge.

I’m confused cuz you say you don’t do no tip orders and yet you have shown previously where you did it and you did a video recently about that guy at the nursing home or whatever that didn’t tip or whatever but you had a good conversation with him and offered to help him out. There is a lady I deliver to frequently. Always shows as $5 for 3.5 miles usually taking me towards my town and almost always at the end of my dash. She always adds an extra tip. Her reasoning for it is dashers will snag good tips and will take their time because they are making 10+ for a 3 mile delivery. She will get the order faster from pick up to delivery. (The restaurant won’t start it until it’s assigned) also she used to dash and knows newer or low rating drivers get the worst orders. I always take every order over because a few dollars for a few miles is better than waiting 20 minutes or more for a good one.
...took me 48 orders to get from 94 to 95 completion heads up wait it out to unassign if possible...sometimes the restaurant is so bad you won't get the notification but still be able to even without the prompt after time window we don't have 30 days anymore Pedro it's active

Sometimes when it’s super slow and i see an order going 5 miles for $4.5. I purposely will accept the order knowing these type of customers don’t tip, just to to make them wait 10-15 minutes more and then unassigned the order without affecting my completion rate.

Tip culture is an odd thing about America. Argument is always about waiters and waitresses but I can see how it applies to doordashers as well. Tipping is meant to incentivize the worker to do more than the minimum, not pay for a living wage. Workers paid a decent salary or wage would see this as extremely rude. But doordash and other companies rely on the customer to pay the bulk of their workers’ pay, so this is seen more of an in-line response (I’d say unfortunately). Agreed, No tip no trip. But also wish base pay was better so workers weren’t so upset when there is no tip.
I would wait the 10 minutes to unassign worry/penalty free so my rates aren't affected. I did that twice yesterday. Rates really matter in a low action zone like mine, unfortunately.
I have had those types of orders. It's tough because if you're driving more than a couple miles, it isn't worth your gas money. Considering all car expenses, it's 70 cents per mile (all car costs with everything factored in including gas.) So yes, it's tough. Less than $1 /per mile is usually not worth it. I sometimes take certain orders because it's oftentimes a parent home with the kids, they don't have a car, don't get grocery money for a few more days, and they're kinda stuck because they live too far from anywhere to walk.
I have a question. I ONLY dash by the hour. is there a way to know if they tip prior to picking up the order?. I have found that most do not tip, but have no way to know until I complete the delivery if the customer tipped and how much the dash paid due to not knowing how long it will take from acceptance to completion of delivery. When you do earn by time there no way to see the tips and unfortunately that’s were all the no tip orders go too because they know you can’t see the tips.

I had a order that was paying $3 and had no tip( I use a third party app that tells me how much doordash is paying me and how much the customer tipped) it was going to be 5.7 miles. It was a pickup from Chipotle and the drop off was to a very high-end hotel. I accepted only because I was going to message the customer and tell him I am absolutely not going to deliver his order because he did not tip. Mind you the total came out to over $80. So I accepted the order, picked it up, and I see that the drop off instructions said leave at my door, it included the hotel room number, and also said "you MUST leave the order at my hotel door. If you leave it at the front desk it is not delivered and I will report to doordash that my food was never delivered" so I called the customer up, and when he answered I said hello this is (inserted my name) I'm you're doordash delivery driver. First words out of his mouth after that were how long you going to take to deliver my food. I told him that I was not delivering his order for a couple of reasons. I told him that if you can afford over $80 worth of food, you can afford the fancy hotel room, but apparently you decided you couldn't afford to tip anything .
The second thing is if I deliver the food to the front desk, is in fact delivered despite you're opinion. He said then I can take the risk of dropping it off at the front desk and losing my job. I told him no sir you misunderstand me I'm not going to deliver your order because one you didn't tip on a $80 plus meal you ordered. Not delivered no matter where I deliver it. You said that was fine that he was going to wait until I unassign myself from the order and then tip bait the next driver. I said okay.
Mind you Chipotle was going to close in 15 minutes. Apparently the customer wasn't smart enough to know how to cancel his order. So I waited 30 minutes past when Chipotle close in unassigned myself from the order. And wouldn't you know about 5 minutes after I unassigned myself from the order, an offer came in to pick up from Chipotle and drop off to the exact same hotel, the offer was $35. I accepted the order and immediately marked myself as arrived at restaurant because I was still in the parking lot, got in touch with doordash driver support staying at the restaurant was closed and they gave me full half pay. Quickest and easiest $15 I've ever made.

These delivery apps charge the customers a lot amount of fees for the drivers to deliver a order. It depends on the distance from the store too the customers house. The drivers don't get paid enough to deliver the orders

I am the customer who recognizes and appreciates service to my door. I'm rated at 80% disability by the VA, and I'm always in a great of pain from head to toe. I have tipped well and in advance of receiving my order. However, drivers never, and I do mean NEVER want to follow simple instructions. It's their shoddy, careless customer service that has me changing my tipping habits.

So, if someone asks in the delivery comments for their drink to be made without ice, the driver can't see that until after they've picked up your order. If you have a request that concerns the preparation or packaging of your food, after placing the order, call the restaurant and tell them.

A strategy i use is.. I go to the restaurant and wait 10 mins + and then i select “Wait times too long” so my completion rate doesn’t get effected 😂 i do this for these cases or for my acceptance rate to not go lower than 70% when bs orders come my way

Anything more than 10 minutes is not worth waiting.
I do not like leaving a restaurant empty-handed especially for a high paying order. Some restaurants will give an estimated 30 minutes to an hour to no estimated time. I have had discussions with such merchants why they don't have tools to add additional preparation time. One such merchant told me on average drivers arrive 10 to 15 minutes before the order is ready. And most drivers walk out before 10 minutes. We get updates on the app all the time but merchants need updates on the app when their business is swamped or they're just really behind

I had a delivery the other day for $4.50 near by drop off and I took it anyways. Yet knew the guy didn’t tip. I got to his complex and got mad at me for not seeing him outside and even told me. I confronted him saying “thanks for the big tip.”

I do late night McDonald’s orders from closed stores that Uber will jack up to 30 40 sometimes $50 after a few cancellations. Accept and instantly check the order before moving. Can’t do this on DD plus they never jack the amount. If the order is small I go to an open McDonald’s and pay on my app. Then you still have to drive to the original closed store to activate the pickup. I’m in a college city with 7 stores and only 3 open past midnight, but the orders keep coming from the closed all night. This has worked for over two years.

I am very blessed and can afford to use delivery apps and tip, however, I have wondered what someone would do in my position who couldn’t afford it and had no one to help them. Just a thought 🤷♀️

Problem is that I rarely ever know there is no tip until after I deliver the order. Most customers don't tell you up front that they're not giving a tip. (I drive "by time" not "by order.")

I always tip because i was a driver and sometimes use other apps and my job i like when ppl tip so i do my due diligence to tip. If everyone tips at least $5 it can make a huge difference
They could be sick or have a disability or have a broken car, which is far more expensive to fix than to buy a burger. They may not have someone to be able to help them go shopping if they are sick or disabled. You never know a person situation. With that said, you’re entitled to do whatever you want, just don’t judge.

I’m confused cuz you say you don’t do no tip orders and yet you have shown previously where you did it and you did a video recently about that guy at the nursing home or whatever that didn’t tip or whatever but you had a good conversation with him and offered to help him out. But yeah if they’re broke they should try to make their own food or get the food themselves of course, fast food delivery is a luxury service.
He did it for content. He doesn't do it on a regular basis. As far as helping a disabled guy and having a conversation with him. Pedro isn't a douchebag and going to watch someone suffer when he can help but it doesn't mean it's ok to not leave a tip.
There is a lady I deliver to frequently. Always shows as $5 for 3.5 miles usually taking me towards my town and almost always at the end of my dash. She always adds an extra tip. Her reasoning for it is dashers will snag good tips and will take their time because they are making 10+ for a 3 mile delivery. She will get the order faster from pick up to delivery. (The restaurant won’t start it until it’s assigned) also she used to dash and knows newer or low rating drivers get the worst orders. I always take every order over because a few dollars for a few miles is better than waiting 20 minutes or more for a good one.

Tip culture is an odd thing about America.
Argument is always about waiters and waitresses but I can see how it applies to doordashers as well.
Tipping is meant to incentivize the worker to do more than the minimum, not pay for a living wage. Workers paid a decent salary or wage would see this as extremely rude. But doordash and other companies rely on the customer to pay the bulk of their workers’ pay, so this is seen more of an in-line response (I’d say unfortunately).

I would wait the 10 minutes to unassign worry/penalty free so my rates aren't affected. I did that twice yesterday. Rates really matter in a low action zone like mine, unfortunately.
I have had those types of orders. It's tough because if you're driving more than a couple miles, it isn't worth your gas money. Considering all car expenses, it's 70 cents per mile (all car costs with everything factored in including gas.) So yes, it's tough. Less than $1 /per mile is usually not worth it. I sometimes take certain orders because it's oftentimes a parent home with the kids, they don't have a car, don't get grocery money for a few more days, and they're kinda stuck because they live too far from anywhere to walk.
That's why I get food myself. If I go to a restaurant where tips are expected I'll happily tip but not for fast food
