His cute little half-hearted 'woo' at 4:14 kills me! I love seeing his rehearsals. He's so laid back but also so calculated. It's fun getting to see what goes into the performances.
Even though he was saving his voice for the show and holding back on his dance moves, he still sounded beautiful and moved so effortlessly. Perfectionist at its best. I'm so glad I had the honor of seeing him live, memories I will never forget. Thanks for the upload

Sometimes he's watching the other dancers to make sure they know their parts. He calls them out on it often in other videos. He practiced alot of these routines by himself to make sure they work with his body, so he probably knows them by heart. Also why he always looks more natural than his back-up dancers. So yeah, probably didn't forget.
Also, based on the way he's motioning to the dancers in the early part, I think he created the routine. Most likely with a choreographer. But he's just watching to make sure they got it. In the end of the dance sequence you can see the male dancer closest to the camera walk off with almost an air of "yeah, I hit every beat" because if he didn't Michael would call him on it. Politely, of course. But everything in perfection. Them Virgos ain't nun to play with.

The voice is a very thin muscle and any small amount of damage can be permanent so it's important any singer protects their voice during long rehearsals. I believe this one was hours and hours. A true professional
