It’s a blessing your mom is still here on earth I miss my mom so much she passed away twenty years ago...but I know she is still with me in spirit...Thank you for sharing....
Jesus! So you mean I can finally make jollof rice that is not too soggy or undercooked?! Chaaaii, girl you just gathered me all the way together! Thank you sooo much! This is the smartest thing I've seen in ages!
So in today video, I had fun catching up and cooking with my mum. Sorry, there is probably more chatting than actual cooking but it was a very impromptu video. We make one of our favourite dishes "Jollof rice", but we are showing you a different method which I hope you'll love too... Using a rice cooker. This is a super quick and easy method and tastes just as delicious! Let me know what you think in the comments below.... Enjoy.
I had never had, let alone made, jollof rice before, but after buying a new multicooker, I thought I'd give this recipe a go. The result was delicious! Will definitely be making more of it in the future. Thank you for this!
Pamela Brown This method has been a game changer for me. Slightly unconventional but still tastes great. Let me know how yours turns out. And thank you 😊
Can't wait to try my next batch of jollof rice adding coconut.... Thank you I have just realised that you are both "Iya ibeji" - (mother of twins) this is very unique. Me too I want to be "Iya Ibeji " . I have twin aunts and cousins that are twins. I pray to God allow me to catch it! 😊😊😊
madigun365 yes we are both twins mums. It usually runs in the family so you have a high chance too ☺️☺️. Let me know how you get on with your batch of Jollof rice. X
I love your relationship with your mum x be grateful, not everyone has this. Question : do I have to open the cooker to stir? Can't I just stir once at the end?
I tried to cook jollof rice in rice cooker several times but it never turned out good. Once I stir the rice. the cooking button jumped up to keep warm button, and from there the rice stops cooking which leaves the rice half cooked. But thank GOD it works nicely for you
extrelason the button usually jumps to keep warm when the water is low. So it doesn’t burn (unlike a pot on the fire). It depends on the brand of the rice cooker how quickly it cooks. Maybe try mixing a bit sooner and adding a bit more water. Sorry I haven’t put portion sizes I’ll work on that and get that up soon. I just guess as I go along. I found adding a bit more water helps, as I used to have that problem too.
Loved the video Bibiana, always nice to catchup with you all. Please add some quantities for the rice cooker eg x cups of rice to x amount of all etc - not that I've tried and messed it up or anything 😊 This could actually be a whole new thing - Nigerian food made easy #NaijaLites
rsodeyi to be honest I don’t measure anything. Just work it out based on the number of people I’m cooking for. But I realise measurements would be helpful for everyone. Sorry, I’ll get that up soon ☺️ xxx
@@BibianaYettyVlogs it's the mantra of all you supernurturers😊 ...just feeding the masses by feel and love ...while the rest of us making a mess and ending up with uncle Ben's😂
Susan H I rinse the rice a lot so it’s not too sticky. It took a lot of trial and error to get that balance between too much (wet rice) or too little water (hard rice). I’ll try and get specific portion sizes up soon and hopefully that will be helpful. I always just guess as I go along depending on how much I make, so I don’t use measuring instruments.

I didn’t know you could do jollof rice in the rice cooker! I have tried to make it once before and it came out too wet!
