    I noticed that You spent more time playing on the Viscous Vibe . The MXR sounded better in the little time you gave it. I prefer the MXR , Less is more when it comes to options . It may not have the tone print feature but it had more punch to it . I love TC Electronics pedals , I. Use a Flashback Delay ,so I m not saying buy the V V . I am going to purchase the MXR instead .

      Yeah I like the MXR univibe on the vibrato setting with speed set high. I like the the Viscous vibe on “chorus” setting slower speed. Yeah this was my 1 st video ever so a girl was holding my I phone the whole length of this video ! There was more to show about the viscous vibe and unfortunately I was unable to get to the univibe as much. The girls hands were shaking 😄 she was looking at me like please end the video 😄. I finally got a camera to make pedal videos a few weeks later ! Yeah people like the analog MXR sound. Viscous is digital so a lot of the “analog” heads can’t get down with a uni-vibe that does not have a real “photocell situation”. I think the viscous vibe does a good job for a digital attempt. I like both pedals. I still use both.

      And yeah you can score the mxr used mint with a box for $79 ish at a guitar center... I’m a fan of MXR/Dunlop and TC Toneprint pedals. My MXR Custom comp deluxe is one of my fav compressors. The phase 100 is on my radar too that’s a cool phaser MXR makes. I respect there analog offerings for sure. Good company. TC is solid digital for me anyways. All my TC toneprint pedals are still functioning at 100 %. I’ve heard others complaining. Mass production quality control is hard for any company.

    Both seem like good options. MXR seemed more “musical” to me but the VV prolly has more flexibility due to toneprint.

      They are both cool but yeah the toneprints on viscous are awesome. Really like the HELIX phaser and toneprints as well as Corona Chorus (w Tri chorus) from this TC line too. Not bad for digital at all. The MXR Univibe is cool though. I rock both on seperate boards …small signal paths

    I’m gonna go harder on the univibe and less on the viscous in part 2 of this which I will post in these comments link. I’ve been playing the mxr quite a lot more since I made this video finding cool uses for it

    I’ve got the mxr, but I really like the TC one. Think I’ll get one. Thanks for the demo. 👍🏼

    Why is the MXR depth pegged at 10 and the Vibe is only at like 3?

  • @PMTluke
    @PMTluke  7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I guess I would say I like the vibe set around “heartbeat” setting for rythm playing when I kick it on. Speed wise a nice heartbeat throb is what I am into

  • @tymime
    @tymime 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    The MXR definitely sounds brighter and more trebly here, at the very least.

    • @PMTluke
      @PMTluke  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Agreed I think all the people who gave this a thumbs down like brighter more treble guitar sounds. Im ussually more about the analog sounds 100 % but i like the thicker more bass-y, darker, swirls on the Viscous VIbe better for slow chorus uni-vibe setting. For Vibrato univibe setting i love the MXR set really fast on the chorus setting too. I can get into the MXR when setting it real fast. Typically though Uni-vibe and Phaser i like a real slow swirl to give a lead solo more movement or

    • @PMTluke
      @PMTluke  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      cut off there ... Phaser and uni-vibe sounds i like slower for movement on lead solos or i set it to the tempo(ussually slow rate) for a nice swirl of chorus uni-vibe on rythm guitar or finger picking. I also think people expected to hear more overdriven balls to the wall Hendrix, Gilmour, Robin Trower style playing when they see a uni-vibe demo. Here i am putting uni-vibe on pretty fingerstyle. but yeah they can thumbs me down all they want this was my 1st video ever :) i did my best to show accurately what these 2 pedals sound like side by side on different settings. I did some more videos where i played the MXR way more and also had the source audio Orbital Modulator Uni-vibe in the mix. I saw Jake Cininger or Umphreys Mcgee uses it and i love his guitar sounds so i scored it used and did a triple shootout and ran a loop and took solos for like a 5 part. I also used he MXR on some JHS MUFFULETTA demos on this channel too when using the David Gilmour "rams Head" mode and the other cool MUFF sounds that sound cool with Uni-vibe. Thanks for checking out the demo man. PEACE

      If you have a trace of fret buzz or pluck an open string, the MXR will screech it!

    I'll stay with my Electro Harmonix Good Vibes its Authentic all the way to the photo cells

    • @PMTluke
      @PMTluke  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah one of the EHX pedals I haven’t tried but I do love the sounds from it I hear from the local band Glass Pony. EHX Good Vibes is a great analog photo cell real deal univibe. I def think it’s a great way to go for the $ I’ve went Electro Harmonix on many paths but haven’t checked the Good vibes since I already have these ^^^ im good on univibe sounds for a bit. That EHX good vibes though 👍👍👌agreed. Great univibe sound from EHX on that one and it’s one of there affordable and well built pedals !

    guzys , which would be better?
    the depths from Earth Quaker devices or o viscous vibe from tc ?

    • @PMTluke
      @PMTluke  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Depends if you want really cool toneprints...the Viscous vibe looks like it was discontinued and the price as gone up to $150 places that carry it. I paid $80 new open box mint. Got a good deal compared to what it is now ! The Depths is $200 new and it will be around for a long time. I would get the newest version 2 as its the best version. Its analog optical vibe with a flexi switch. sweetwater has a demo for $179 as we speak and used it goes for about $139 used but make sure its V2. Ive heard V1 has had issues etc. With all Earthquaker Devices i suggest the newest version. I have a V1 Rainbow Machine but it has a very hard click which i dont mind but the flexi switch is silent and relay based. EQD says its better and will last forever. so yeah they are both great. Digital or Analog is always a choice. I think the viscous Vibe sounds awesome for digital but not everyone agrees. Id grab a viscous for $80 used mint if you see it. it looks like because if the release of the Plethora Toneprint pedal its going the wau of the buffalo. The Depths V2 will be around. I think. No gaurantees with EQD they discontinue stuff that rulez all the time like the SPIRES and TRANSMISSER. Im really suprised the viscous vibe got discontinued tbh. I love mine.

    • @PMTluke
      @PMTluke  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      thats a great question though analog vs digital
      both are great companies to me. Viscous vibe is stereo ...depths is mono... that effects things as well. in a stereo situation the Viscous vibe can swirl back and forth and stereo swirl and toneprints are freaking awesome.

    Which one do you think is better......there is more options with the toneprint app on the viscous.........🤔

    • @PMTluke
      @PMTluke  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If you like the MXR Univibe sound you like it and if that's all you want then thats good. I like crazy toneprints to bust out on recordings like "Count Funkula" for this guitar part etc. So The Viscous Vibe like all toneprint pedals has that. Its a thick and syrupy swirl. The MXR is a thinner swirl on the chorus side of it. Depends what you like whether you like the toneprints. Both cool pedals but i feel like the Viscous gives alot of options. Its really easy to beam in toneprints too unlike some digital pedals that are really for the tech-y type guitarist.

    • @PMTluke
      @PMTluke  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Using Toneprints in the studio has been fun and its always a cool way to remember what you recorded and exactly how you recorded it when its labeled with a toneprint name and sound.

    Settings are so different on the two pedals.
    MXR - low volume, high intensity (depth)
    VVibe - high volume, low intensity

    My pedal board is a mish mash of MXR Dunlop Strymon Boss Joyo and Tech 21, so I'm not biased, on this one I prefer the TC the MXR is too thin and brittle, the TC reminds me of a 70's album.

    • @PMTluke
      @PMTluke  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah it’s got a nice thick throb I really dig it for digital univibe sound under $100 brand new with the toneprints it’s a great pedal

      @PMTluke  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I like the Viscous Vibe for the Toneprints and i like it better for the Chorus univibe setting.....However i do like The MXR Univibe alot...its great on the Univibe "Vibrato" setting. Depends whether you like the chorus setting of the univibe or the Vibrato setting...and whether you want to digital toneprints the Viscous Vibe has to offer. The MXR is Analog. Thanks for watching and stopping by !

    All this equipment and in camera mic ? that's like running out of money for fuel for the Lamborghini you own ??

      @lukeweiler1192 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      neoaureus this was actually the 1 st video of pedals Luke ever did. It was shot with an I Phone 😄a person is actually holding the phone the entire video. Luke did one more video like this before saving up for a ZOOM camera which honestly .... some of the zoom camera videos are great sounding and some the I phone actually sounds better. It is neither here nor there. I like the ZOOM condensor capsule mics more but mostly I just like the zoom videos better because it can attach it to a mic stand above the pedals. A female friend literally held this I phone the entire video 😄. Why it ugh moves around a bit 😄. But yeah 1 st guitar video I ever made. Is what it is man.

      And yeah this equipment is all very mid level nothing is super high expensive. These are not garbage pedals but are far from boutique. And the VOX AC 15 although a great amp is not like a Mesa boogie or a Two Rock. It’s all very common stuff one can acquire on little budget. Most of my demos are like that. Demos for people who aren’t wealthy. If I do a demo of an expensive pedal I’m most likely borrowing it.

      I toured more and played live waaaaaaay more back in the day. These days more being a dad. Live in the country. I do a lot of recordings and have fun making these pedal demos on this non monetized TH-cam channel I rock for fun and to chronicle my musical progress. (as well as sometimes regress) A lot of these pedals I don’t own so it’s cool to come back and listen and say hmm.... should I buy this one someday? Source Audio VENTRIS Reverb pedal I think is my favorite out of all the pedals $$$ I can’t afford but may pull the trigger on someday. Dual engine reverb and expression pedal to make really ambient soundscapes intros/outros/breakdowns/Segways. Yeah I think my favorite out of all these is the Source Audio VENTRIS. I never thought I’d buy a reverb pedal ever as I like my amp reverb but... that VENTRIS got game.

    Actually ive just spent alot more time with the Viscous vibe. I like the MXR better on the vibrato setting. The thing with the uni-vibe is it set out to be a rotating speaker and failed. The Chorus setting doesnt sound like a chorus and the vibrato setting doesnt sound like a vibrato pedal :) but... its a cool sound. Right place right time you kick on your univibe and it can set the mood righteous. No doubt

    • @amurphycmu
      @amurphycmu 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I have both pedals too and coincidentally use the same settings and thought exactly the same about them, MXR sounding thin (which I've read is basically a modified Phase 45). And yes, the MXR is better with vibrato setting, and at a faster rate, which can sound more like a fast Vibrotone rotary cab/harmonic tremolo setting. I think the TC Vibe Viscous is the best univibe clone in the sub $200, beating any of the cheaper analog photo cell clones in that price range by a mile. The TC actually gets very close to that warm throb in the bass and doesn't completely thin out and make your signal disappear when it hits the peak like the MXR does.

      Not true!
      That’s not what truly happened. They were trying to create the sound/ phasing that was heard in radio free Europe when the station faded in and out.
      Although, I’ve known this for along time,
      I just looked it up, to find a citation for you. Just look up Univibe in Wikipedia.

    The Vicious Vibe sounds bland to me. The "few" times you actually played the MXR, it sounded fantastic. To me it sounds more like the original Shin Ei Univibe and I used to have one many years ago, before it bit the dust. The MXR has more of the throb and chewy sound of the original. Just my opinion.
