You just heard the Jimi Hendrix 70th Anniversary Tribute Series Univibe. The JHM3 captures all of the undulating waves and phasing textures of a vintage Univibe and packs them into a classic MXR sized enclosure. With all the original features, the Dunlop Tribute Series Univibe can deliver two distinct voices: chorus for classic Hendrix tones at Woodstock and with his Band of Gypsys or Vibrato for that warm, analog pitch modulation that drips with rhythm. The compact size, push button mode switch and standard 9V operation makes the JHM3 a go to vibe for your pedalboard. And like all the Hendrix Tribute Series effects, this limited Edition 70th Anniversary Univibe is graced with the iconic drawing of Hendrix by rock artist John Van Hamersveld .
It blows me away how mellow yet intense the Hendrix style of playing is. I get lost somewhere between his tone and his choice of notes spliced between those endless chords. I can almost see colors coming out of the sounds.
❤that bro
man this guy can play
Wil opt for the MXR version, as I could never bring myself to stomping on an image of Jimi's face.
Is the MXR version the same pedal, just in a different box?
Probably start with a compressor, instead of a univibe.
abrie chill * TRUE .
@abrie chill fulltone is a great univibe. I dont like any mxr pedals. The carbon copy was actually fun when i used it. and great for the price. But i have a eventide timefactor. And two vintage analog delays. Hoping to get an echoplex. So not needed. But for a budget the carbon copy is a great delay pedal, and takes up barely any space. Other than that, not a big fan of MXR
Andy, A big Thanks to you my brother. First I gotta say that Proguitarshop is really lucky having you doing these demos, Your demos are always well informative and showing a wide spectrum of tonal options and what these pedals can achieve in the right hands. Your playing is MAGIC Andy, always touching my soul and I for one am glad to get to see and hear these. Thanks Andy. I just received all 4 of the 70th anniversary Hendrix pedals and WOW!! Love, Love, Love 'em.
-Peace-
-Bob-
I have this pedal, save your money guys. Seriously.
Hey Jimi
What's wrong with it?
Jimi Hendrix Fucking A, Jimi is here guys! ;)
So, what do you recommend instead...?
GlennMarshallRocks LSD lots of it!!!
Man Paul Rudd really can play the guitar! Awesome picking!
This was awesome to watch. Definitely comes close to that iconic sound.
This is very much Hendrix! A reminder of how far ahead of his time he really was with his use of effects and modulation.
It helps the high-end survive long cable lengths, so my tone always stays crispy and sparkly, plus with pedals like fuzzes, a buffer is a great way of cleaning it up and giving it clarity.
Oh man that last part with the overdrive form the amp. Such a sweet tone.
wow hendrix-The return of hendrix-Perfect execution and sound-I want buy this pedal.Beautiful.The best demo are on proguitar shop.Players of guitar very very best for dimonstration-Thanks for all videos
Wow!
Andy, can play!
I could spend the whole day and watch, and listen to Andy play.
Well done, Andy, I enjoy your demo.'s very informative & well presented, thank U.
There is no hard rule. Try it both ways and see which one suits you. After gain will accentuate the higher frequencies or "swish" while before gives you a warmer, low end pulse like Trower.
My pleasure. Have fun.
By far my favorite pedal on my board!
I use modulations a lot, and I tend to put them after distortions and before ambient effects, which is pretty standard. A pedal like this is kind of like a phaser, which could go in either place. I do a video on the MXR Phase 90 where I hook it up before and after a distortion, and what you will hear is a mellower sound when before distortion or a more raucous sound after -- each with its own purpose depending on what you are doing. The other option is to put it in an effects loop.
i think you did a great job capturing the spirit of 1970 Hendrix tone. Well done. I'm tempted to buy this.
I'm really surprised by how great this thing sounds!!! You really can't beat the price either. DAMNIT, Imma have to buy one.
This is awesome I saw this in a magazine after wanting to get the dejavibe for a few months, I have the dunlop octavio and fuzz face so I might save myself 100 bucks!!!
Damn, listen to the boy's right hand chops! He lights that shit up!
Awesome,Great Hendrix Sound
Just bought one of these. Can't wait to try it!
love the riff in the beginning
Bought mine already, the first day PGS had it, love it!
Andy, I always enjoy your videos. One of these videos convinced me to bought my G-System in your store. Everything was ok and came safe and sound to Santiago de Chile. Thanks for your help!!!
Received mine today, all three yeaaaah.... an the sound is unbelievable ,love them so much .... i think as it is with every guitar, amp, or effect EVERY PERSON IS AN INDIVIDUAL AN UNIQUE seen, so every one by him self should decide if the pedal sounds good or not, its also a point of the price which i think is very good at least for europe..... so best to do go to the nearest guitar shop - hope that they have´em - try them an than decide ..... Peace
Hi, I got one of these, and the settings youve suggested really helped me find great sounds with this pedal, great, thanks.
I just got this bad boy and it sounds great.
Feelin it Andy, great soulful playing. Pedal so captures the 70's vibe
The demos of this and the JHM 2 and 3 are really good. Nice playing.
I love how Andy is playing the "DEEP" Hendrix cuts to demo the Hendrix 70th Anniversary series of pedals.
Awe Sh** Andy!! You sound just like Hendrix!! Especially at 30 seconds, wow!!! ;)
I have that exact guitar...what a beast
I went to the jimi hendrix museum and over the years I've met jimi hendrix friends and ask them questions as a fan. Jimi at the recording studio would get the sounds of different guitars and a sound of a didgeridoo. these sounds would be combined and put into the uni vibe and this sound was done for voodoo child song.
I've always love the unibe pedals on records but never could keep one in my pedalboard. But I can't deny this one sounds great !
sounds great
Yo - u were born to play that pedal bro - fantastic 👏 👌 😎 🙌 👍
Awesome as always!
I have the Electro Harmonix Good Vibes Uni Vibe very Authentic all the way to the photo cells
The only person on the planet who can play Hendrix and not sound super lame.
no way, check out SRV
That's what I'm saying lol
if you can play like hendrix you cant sound lame
yeah any catches the vibe not the tablature (no pun intended)
TheMlawhon He said "play Hendrix". That's a huge difference from "play like Hendrix"
Damn i love to hear you play!!!!!!!!
Some very nice playing, Andy, as always.
EXCELLENT DEMO
The mxr looks a must!
I put my voodoo vibe after overdrive and fuzz, sound more natural to me and the buffer cleans everything up
I got one of these along with the Fuzz Face on Saturday, and for $130 these things are unbeatable. The fuzz hold its own with those from Analogman, Fulltone, etc, and the Vibe is just as good as those from Fulltone, MJM, Foxrox, or Sweet Sound, but nice and small. These are really impressive pedals. I also think the Fuzz Face sounds much better than my old Hendrix Fuzz Face that I sold recently.
Sounds great!
just great! awesome!
You sounds more Hendrix than Hendrix. What a boss.
Dunlop really just needs to do the original/classic graphics.
I would feel like a 2 year old having this on my board.
One of the main reasons why i went with another vibe.
Dunlop has just announced in NAMM a new Univibe pedal for spring 2014
This new MXR UNI-VIBE pedal is actually the same vibe pedal that MXR made available about a year ago for the Jimi Hendrix 70th Anniversary Tribute pedals, wah, fuzz, octavio and the "univibe" Same pedal with different graphics.
It obvious that you are getting better Andy! Looks good on ya..
andy rocking , oh yeah!
very good to know, thanks man!
agree, bought the octavio went home and realised i hate green...but it still sounds good so i decided to keep it.
Thanks!
Univibe is like phase/chorus/vibrato (vibrato is pitch oscillation.)
Tremolo is volume oscillation.
Who the hell would dislike this video?!
amazing!
I want this and I want to show off house burnin down :D
Well said, I think these seem more like collectors items.
cool variation on james funk in the beginning :)
Just got one at GC, fun pedal!
Came here after the MXR Univibe Chorus/Vibrato review and the MXR sounds better.
It's the same exact pedal
Great!
I didn't say that I was "better" than anyone. I said I hear the rhythm and drum loops in my head.
Bro,
You are playing the Hendrix stuff bloody brilliantly! Same as on the Fuzz vid....Easy Rider! nice. Sold me on both
Man. He's such a sick guitarist... The pedal is pretty insane too... I'm sure if you balanced it out you can get a fat rhythm sound!!
I didn't know Sndy was sick what's wrong with him? Hope he gets better very soon..
i love mine.
well, this is the reason i write "almost". of course the general rule is that, but obviously there are several exceptions. I've never tried the micro vibe, but i think it isn't a univibe replica, so probably it interact differently with distortion pedals and amp distortion
this is a great pedal! I love playing with it.
Awesome tones, esp. at the price!
Guys at GC said they like this over the Deja Vibe and it's $100 less!
Guys at guitar center are usually idiots. lmao They also probably think JHS is the best pedal maker around. When all he does is mostly make exact copies of cheaper pedals and sell them for more.
Analogman, Keeley, Paul C, BJFE, Klon KTR etc make great pedals. Fulltone also has some good pedals. Their OCD is actually pretty sweet, and they make one of my fav univibes. Plus the 69 fuzz is actually a fun little pedal. Pretty close to my analogman sunface, but much much less
Now that's what I'm talking about...! :~)
Nice licks..
THANKS FOR ADDING THE PRICE IN THE DESCRIPTION :)
Yeah I definitely agree, although not many can afford an Analogman Sun Face Fuzz or a Fulltone Deja Vibe (I know there are others). So it's for the people who are on a tight budget, other than that I don't see any other point they put this out for. It isn't a traditional Vibe circuit and nor is the Fuzz made out of the best parts/transistors. It's good for people starting out with pedals or to keep them busy until they can save for a nice fuzz or uni-vibe. Just IMO.
you are correct
Can you do some more drive tones Andy? That was just amazing! I'd love to hear some more jamming with some more drive, and hear the different colors this pedal can provide!
The leg bouce is because he's feeling it... not because you're better than everyone.
Astro Man!
I actually have perfect rhythm. I also hear movement and lights flash.
good ol' andy
I could be wrong, but it sounds like he's doing a bit from Hendrix' "Machine Gun," segues into what sounds like "Highway Song" by Blackfoot, and then back to "Machine Gun."
modulations always (or almost) after fuzz/distortion. only if you use the amp distortion it would be good to put the univibe in the effect loop
Hello, I have many boutique pedals , lots of OD , chorus, tremolo, delay pedals I love, wha and phaser ! But want to put a feet in the Vibe world ! Does the Fulltone vibrato mode sound like a simple vibrato or does it sound a bit colored like it seems to ? Even it gets smaller and smaller , any other small Vibe pedal does sound like this one ? Any other small Vibe pedal idea for small use and not too much place on my pedalboard ? Thanks for your help and best regards from France
uuugh nice!
I honestly like this pedal. I mean its not as powerful as the Roger Mayer Voodoo Vide pedal but its tone quality is comparable to the Voodoo Lab Microvibe
They call me Astro Man!!!
Astro Man, from Hendrix' "Cry of Love" album.
the Dunlop univibe pedal (the big grey one) almost lit my entire pedal board on fire (yes, was using the correct power supply). Avoid at all costs. Started smoking after 6 months of use. Thankfully I was near the board and noticed before it burned everything down.
Smoking is bad for you so i agree you should avoid ;)
the pedal almost started an electrical fire dipshit
Rj Bron look at this triggered bitch
You have a fantastic sense of humor.
You people should first buy some Hendrix records instead some pedals.
Gilmourinski2 EVERYONE! Get this guy to the top of the comment section! You´re the man, Gilmourinsiki ;-)
Perry Toad I was not trolling, bit angry that they can´t recognize some riffs and chords from Hendrix but they need guitar effects :D
I think you got me wrong there, man. I didn´t think you were trolling. You were just right. People should listen more instead of spending their money on things they don´t need.
Rock on, bro!
***** but effects are more fun :)
Gilmourinski2 I know this shit seems kinda stupid its kinda like a sales gimmick they're like "oh its got Hendrix's on it there for it should great" idk it's not to big of a deal it just makes me feel like people aren't actually LISTENING to the effect pedal they just buy it cause it looks cool but what ever as long as you can make cool music with it that's all that matters and besides any of these "Hendrix tribute pedals" are most like better then a lot of the ones he had cause Hendrix got his wahs, univibes,
phasers etc before those words alone even existed for him it was like Ford letting someone take one of his model t's for a test run and him being like well did you like my brand? and the guys like idk I don't even know what this thing is but I like it lol.
Umm...let me think...YES
Who's that sound at 2:09? It's Amazing!!!!!!
Man, did you find him? I've been looking for that song for a long time
astro boy! he must really like land of the rising sun!
Hendrix is a musical Genre and these boxes are just tools to help a Hendrixian get closer to sonic nirvana.
I'm sold, where's my credit card?!
This doesnt have a photocell. Its just a 'phaser on steroids' as some like to call it
now i have it - juhuu
I don't know what's more insulting, the fact they put Jimi Hendrix's name on such a poor approximation of a real Univibe, or that his face is right where you stomp your foot to activate the effect.
my reverb does this on my deluxe
