Just to clarify, towards the end I say years later after he retired, in 2013. That's when the interview takes place, not when he retired. Just didn't say it very clearly. Anyways, Enjoy!

Funny story. I was at the gym one day and this pretty big dude in his maybe 40s or 50s comes up to me and nods at my pop Warner shirt and starts talking to me about football. After chatting for a bit we both went back to working out. My dad comes up to me and says do you know who that is? I shook my head and he said that’s Jack Youngblood. The guys a badass.

Hey KTO, I don't know if you take recommendations, but if you do, I highly suggest making a video about Rocky Bleier. His story is remarkable. First off, he was a 16th round pick, which back then was essentially a pity pick. Then he gets drafted into the Army to go fight in Vietnam, where he was wounded by an enemy grenade, which caused him to lose part of his right foot. Then he goes on to win 4 Super Bowls with the Steelers in the 1970s. And later, he received both the Bronze Medal and the Purple Heart. I'm not even a Steelers fan, but the man is a legitimate bad ass, and is one of the greatest football stories I've ever read.

Loved Jack Youngblood ! When the Rams had their practice field and offices in Anaheim, I used to go watch through the fence. I watched Jack pushing a sled all over the field by himself. It was a linemans sled with like 4 dummy to hit. Had lunch where a lot of the team would go. Jack Youngblood, Jackie Slater, Leroy Irvin and others.
Big guys who were mean on the field but nice as heck to me. Wish they stayed in Anaheim. Was a die hard fan. When they moved to St. Louis now back in LA. I bet against all the way now. The field and office were on my way home. I took a OCTD Bus to work for a long time as we could not afford a car yet. With my bus pass I could stop and get back on at anytime. I miss those fun days.

You're both fuckin wrong in some areas dudes. Here's an excerpt from an interview with ESPN.
"There were a lot of moments where I didn't think I was gonna wrestle in the Olympics," he recalled. "For one, I couldn't get a doctor to clear me. My neck was broken -- I had three discs sticking directly in my spinal cord."
Competing in the semifinals of the NATIONAL TRIALS, Angle came down hard on the mat on his head. The results were two bulged and herniated disks, two cracked vertebrae and four pulled muscles in his neck.
Angle went for an MRI scan the next day and was told he had to rest and heal for six months. With the Olympic trials just TWO AND A HALF MONTHS AWAY, he cried his eyes out in the doctor's office.
He broke his neck at national trials, not olympic trials. It was never treated, the only doctor who could help him basically said no more training, but when you go to trials we'll shoot your neck up with novocaine so you can't feel the pain. That was pretty much the only treatment he got. Most surgeons wouldn't even try to operate on a broken neck like that because the risk of paralysis when removing bone from the spinal cord is way too high. So he gambled and stopped training, shot up with novocaine and risked paralysis.
You wanna keep being ignorant assholes, or not? Read the article and educate yourselves. Stop being pricks.
      Here's the link: www.espn.com/olympics/story/_/id/15460333/how-kurt-angle-won-olympic-gold-medal-broken-freakin-neck-20-years-on

It's pretty common to play on a broken fibula, as long as it does not get hit again it won't get worse. Playing the same game however is insane. I understand not wanting to play when you're injured. But purely as an outsider and a fan of the sport, I think the difference in thinking between the generations is what made yesterday's generations special. It's the reason why they're looked at as almost legendary. Because they would risk it all for the glory of the now. They had way more to lose. They didn't make as much money. They didn't have endorsement deals or the never ending media jobs available with only a few radio stations and a couple of TV jobs to fight for. They needed that playoff money, Super bowl money, or pro bowl money. As well as the one thing that mattered the most to them more than anything, was to get a ring before their career ended. That's all that mattered. That's why they're respected as much as they are.

ZAYWHAT - Brady is getting older and the pats are loosing a ton of players on defense as well as a few on offense. The Falcons are only loosing two starters and we replaced them with Poe who could arguable be the best in the league at his position and Tak who has an extremely bright future.
