Jen Shea - I just recently (about 5 weeks ago) started walking on the treadmill. I do about 45 minutes usually every day at an average pace of 3.3 rpm and 2.5 incline. One of the good things about eating low carbs is it helps with inflammation. So between dropping over 70 pounds and the less inflammation, my knees and ankles are doing great! Good luck to you on your journey. 😊

Maximillian Korte - That’s why I said it may not be for everybody. I haven’t had any side effects of eating low carb/high fat. When I was eating the recommended American Standard Diet I was overweight and had high blood pressure AND Diabetic high blood sugar...now, I have none of that. I recently had blood work done and ALL my numbers across the board were excellent. No high blood pressure, No high blood sugar, NO cholesterol issues whatsoever. I went from wearing a tight 42 waist pants to now my 34 waist pants are getting too lose. Thanks for your concern though.

I eat two meals a day, lots of good veggies, fat, and protein... I am completely satisfied. Down to a healthy wight, and the best part is how your body composition starts to find the real you. Yes I exercise, but I'm no longer killing myself in the gym to work off that donut. Try it, commit to it, and it will change your life for the better.

"It just happens." This is so true. I was addicted to all food and chased the feeling of being stuffed. I did a complete 180 and dove into keto with both feet. After weeks of researching and being mindful of what I put in my mouth, eating better is a lifestyle. It's natural now. I don't think about what I need to eat to be healthier. It's like walking as a baby or riding a bike. At first, each step takes tremendous concentration, but when you're used to it, you can do it almost in your sleep. My doctor is happy, and I'm happy.

I remember Dr. Oz maligning keto a few years ago. They were giving out the wrong info on the show and I wanted to scream at them for robbing so many people from acheiving a healthy lifestyle. Finally after so much resistance they are coming to their senses. Hallelujah! My one advise to new ketoers is if you want to avoid discomfort in the beginning make sure you have plenty of potassium and magnesium. It also helps to take a little salt and lemon juice in cold water.

Darlene DeVegan Not sure where you got your information from, but that is 100% not true. I’ve been Keto for over 3 years now and I can write a book on how it has helped me. If you choose not eat this way then that is fine, but do not go around spouting your opinions unless you’ve tried it. I don’t go around telling vegans that they’re way of eating is bad for them, or those that choose to eat only meat, etc,. Why because I’ve never tried it and I haven’t done extensive research on the matter as I have Keto. I lived my whole life in pain due to osteoarthritis and a sway back. Used to be able to tell you it was going to rain before the weatherman did. Since Keto I have no more pain. Used to feel sick all of the time and had chronic insomnia, Keto fixed that as well. I never had periods unless I was on the pill. I could go a year without one but usually 6-9 mos. I am 48 years old and have regular periods every month. I used to not ovulate unless I was on the pill, hence the lack of periods, but I do now. My skin is better, my energy levels are better, my brain functions are better and my memory has improved dramatically. I could go on and on and on about the benefits it has provided me. The weight loss was just a bonus side effect.
My 25 year old son started having chest pains and after all the testing the Dr.s said he was fine, but it scared him and he realized he needed to make a change. He came to me to help him with a Keto Lifestyle back in March. He has also improved mentally, physically and internally. He doesn’t get acid reflux and heart burn anymore, he’s lost over 60 lbs and kept it off, he sleeps better, he has motivation, he doesn’t get the heart palpitations or chest pains anymore, etc,.
My husband has had severe acid reflux and heart burn for years and had to take Prevacid every day or he would suffer especially at night when trying to sleep. One week after starting Keto he stopped taking his Prevacid just to see how he would do without it. He hasn’t had an episode of acids reflux or heart burn since and stopped taking the Prevacid.
My in laws after seeing what Keto had done for us started doing it, they have lost weight, have more energy, their cholesterol has improved dramatically, they don’t have to take half the meds they used to, and so on and so on.
So, if it’s so bad then why so many good things come out of it? Again, if you choose not to eat this way then fine, but do not go around telling others how bad it is for you when you have no idea. Yeah, it’s a little rough in the beginning and it takes a while to see the changes but there are things you can do to alleviate the “roughness” in the beginning. Make sure you are hydrated, use a little extra salt, magnesium and potassium to help keep your electrolytes up so you don’t get the “Keto Flue”, for starters.
And eating Keto is not just about eating “fat, fat and more fat”, “strictly meat” or “zero carbs”. You eat a decent amount of fat, but it’s healthy fats that are natural, not man made chemicals. Moderate amounts of protein from non-processed sources. And believe it or not a lot of vegetables like kale, spinach, lettuce, broccoli, asparagus, cabbage, Brussels sprouts, green peppers, olives, avocados (which are actually fruit), etc,. You can have some veggies such as carrots a little at a time because they are high in sugar. I eat 6-10 cups everyday of vegetables. You eat a small amount of fruit like raspberries, strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, watermelon, etc,. you just shy away from fruits like bananas that are very high in sugars. And the 20g of carbs is net carbs, meaning total carbs minus fiber, and try to stay under 15g of sugar a day.
So again, there are people reversing cancer, diabetes, pain and inflammation. They are balancing their hormones and losing weight not to mention lowering cholesterol and having better brain function and more energy. I don’t see what’s wrong with that. And I 100% agree with Montell, it’s a lifestyle change not a diet as people think of a diet. Also for the record, the few times I have been in a situation where I can’t eat Keto, I have pain again, I feel sick and sluggish again like I used to, etc, and it takes several days to a week depending on how long I had to go nonKeto to get back to myself again. But when I do it just reminds me of how I used to feel and I will never eat the SAD (standard American Diet) again. And if you are Vegan, there are Vegan ways of eating this way too. It doesn’t have to be animal protein you get your protein from as long as it’s a low carb alternative. So I implore you to do more research and talk to people who actually live this lifestyle and see how many positive changes they have made in their health before you start telling people how bad it is for you. If one person can actually be helped by this way of eating and you encourage them not to because you don’t have all of the information you need about this lifestyle, then you are doing them a severe disservice and that’s not fair to them just because you don’t believe in it or don’t have the correct information. Told you I could write a book. Lol

On a ketogenic diet it is very important to hit your daily protein goals. I probably don't need to explain what important roles protein plays in on our body, but I thought I'd throw this out there because I never saw it mentioned.

Alexandra V don’t start again for another week or so. Also make sure you’re getting sufficient sodium, potassium, and magnesium, whether through foods or supplements. The glycogen stores in your body are dwindling, your weakness while running is your body’s way of saying “ careful, fuel tank running on empty!” And that’s exactly what you want to be happening to force it into fat burning mode. Once you’re there you will feel like you have more energy, clear headed, hungry less often and craving carbs a lot less, if at all.

    • @marisacherry8328

    • @JaredD135
      @JaredD135 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

@@celestev9571 that's because the body naturally uses carbs as energy not fat. The whole point of keto is to force your body to use fat as energy which takes awhile for the body to realize that carbs are not coming in so it needs to use it's backup energy source which is fat. But fasting is a much better way to do this, I eat a high carb vegan diet but I also fast every day which causes your body to use fat as energy but the process is much faster and therefore my body goes back and fourth between carbs and fat on a daily basis. I get to eat all of the carbs I want and still burn fat as energy, as a bonus I workout towards the end of my fasting to use even more fat as energy.

In April 2017 I was diagnosed with diabetes having a 9.5 A1c and being about 300 pounds despite trying to eat a good SAD diet with a lot of fruit and juicing and eating a lot of healthy, organic grains! I was put on Metformin that I began taking at the end of May 2017. I began cutting carbs and sugar as I was learning about keto and was easing into it. In November 2017 I went full on keto and stopped the Metformin on my own while monitoring my glucose. In January 2018, I went OMAD (One Meal A Day) and by February 2018 my A1c dropped to 4.9 and in May 2018 I began weaning off ALL my medications. That included blood pressure, thyroid (my hair was falling out badly on the synthetic), and the Neurontin I used for my back pain and sciatic pain. I was losing weight, and feeling GREAT! I began being able to walk and not use a wheelchair while out and should stand in the shower without my shower seat! Now in February 2019, my A1c was 4.5, I just turned 51 years old, was off ALL medications, I lost 116 pounds, I can WALK and my pain is way less! My blood pressure and heart rate are low and healthy! I feel and look so much younger! My profile pic is me in February as I turned 51! Keto is the way to go!

I went on keto to lose weight. I had tried every diet under the sun, starting in kindergarten!
On keto the weight just flew off.
My hair is getting thicker - you can see the before and after growing out of my head.
It’s easier to cook as the recipes are simpler.
If I don’t make it to lunch on time, no big deal. My hunger is manageable. I don’t feel like I’m starving.
    My mental health has improved.
    My PMS is gone.
Have I become one of those people that can’t shut up about the diet? You bet, but if I can help even one person try keto, it’s worth it.

Montel didn't answer her question: How do you stop from being bored on a Keto diet? Personally..this happens with me too..so that's when I start eating more vegetables and a very small amount of fruit and carbs until I can get back on track. It seems being bored on a Keto diet is normal..and not much you can do about it..especially if you don't want to start making keto recipes with low carb flours..which I'm too busy/tired to do. Keto is just boring most of the time..and we have to face that. Taking a break from Keto may be necessary in order to not totally abandon it in the long run.

The RAVENOUS hunger I experienced eating a vegetarian low-calorie diet off and on to lose weight is totally gone. If you're struggling to lose weight, it's not about willpower. It's about sugar.
You can't be "kinda keto", though - if you slip up and have a sugary coffee in the morning you'll just hang on to whatever fat you eat, and it'll take potentially days to be using ketones again.
The thing is that you stop wanting sugar, you forget to eat from time to time because when you do eat, it's the most satisfying, nutritionally dense food you can have. Of course eating fruit and yoghurt and sweet salads all day was making me hungrier!

@@martykirby7311 your ignorance betrays you. Science says it's better to eat some pesticides with veggies than eat meat & dairy. You have as much (or more) pesticides inside you as anyone else. I, on the other hand, organic garden. And any plant food I purchase is ORGANIC HAHAHAHAHAHA, you dimwit. Girls go through puberty about six-to-eight years earlier than past decades from the hormones in their meat. Isn't that parental neglect?

@@martykirby7311 grass fed is contaminated with chemicals. And you don't know what hormones are pumped into any animal. Besides, If you raised it yourself and fed it to your standard, it would still be meat and overly-fat with too much protein for human consumption. You have more to learn than you have time. Eat the meat, get the disease, don't worry about it. You'll likely get the same diseases your older relatives have, except you'll get them younger because you've been eating meat & dairy (fast food) longer. No more lies, please.

No one Stole Dr Berg's Idea. Most of the Topics Dr Berg discusses were already discussed on TV, Talkshows & TH-cam by Medical experts including Dr Oz way before Dr Berg. Dr Berg gets his ideas from what others. Which is Not a bad thing. All this Keto, Intermittent Fasting, etc. are Trending again. Nothing New.
_I noticed lately Dr Oz is uploaded Videos on very Old Topics he already Discussed and post TH-cam Videos on years ago._

So true when he said after a certain time on Keto you totally stop with the sugar craving and for me personally when I think about sweets like a cake for example it makes me sick even thinking about it .. this is coming from someone when before would destroy a cake in a day.
