Thank you so much! I dislike going to the hairdresser, so tend to leave my hair to grow a bit too long between appointments. It does feel nice to have tidy hair again!
Ooooooo, how fun it was to see you harvest those babies!💪 You've inspired me to try growing Parsnips in my garden!! In 18 years of having a veg garden, I've never thought to grow them!🤷♀️ Wish me luck!🤞🤞🤞
Parsnips should be happy enough in PNW as it's a similar climate to ours in the UK. I just took at peek at one of your videos and wow, what a fabulous view you have looking out over the water!
@LizZorab Thanks for the encouragement Liz! You're the best! And if you're ever in the PNW, I'd ❤️ to give you a garden tour & have a sip of tea with you in the greenhouse!🤗
I love your planner especially because it's not just for a year. I always start my journal but often miss a few months here and there but yours I don't have to waste any space! I know you are a great gardener with lots of experience and love your advice. I know there's a passion behind what you do and not solely money orientated. Thank you
Well done Liz! Mine didn't even germinate (or if they did they were munched before they were large enough to be seen) I sowed 3 times to no avail. Maybe next year I will have more success.
Thank you for asking, I am well, but I'm fairly sure that TH-cam hasn't been putting my videos in front of viewers for some time. I've had a few comments recently, like yours, that say they haven't seen my videos. Even if you have subscribed and hit the bell to get notifications, it seems that there is no guarantee that they send you a notification!
I have 2 parsnips to harvest 😂 think i got a bumper crop of 3 or 4 last year 😂😂 this year it was my fault, i just didn't keep them watered and they dried out but next year I'll really have to give them a proper tending to!
greta vidio Liz. Thank you. I guess your skin reacts as parsnips are closely related to hogweed, which is a real irritant of skin, being phytophotodermatic , (is that a word?), as it contains furocoumarin, so alwys advisable to wear long sleeves and glovs for protection. Also a gpod idea to have eye protection because of sap spray. Great harvest. Congratulations. Happy growing 🙂
I don't actually have a recipe for grilling parsnips, I can't imagine that they would taste very nice grilled, unless you mean on a barbecue and even then I think they'd lose the lovely rich taste over the flames.
They look great !! I was waiting for a frost before I pulled mine. Do you think it makes much difference? If they're still green will they carry on growing?
It makes a big difference to the taste. We have had a couple of light frosts, so I was happy to harvest. The tops will stay green through most of the winter in our garden.
It could be that they germinate now, grow just a bit then 'go to sleep ' over winter and then when spring comes they've a head start? Can do that with carrots, so maybe the same for parsnips? I've never tried but was half going to chance doing it
I've never heard of parsnips to sow in November in UK, but if you are in a warmer climate, that may makes sense. In nature, the seeds will sit in the ground through the winter, so there is no real reason that they wouldn't do well. Why not give it a go and see how they get on. However, parsnips do like a long growing season, so a year wouldn't be unreasonable, I will still be harvesting these ones in February, 11 months after sowing the seeds.
fabulous parsnips!!
Thank you!
Nice to see you smiling and excited about your parsnips. Love your new haircut.

Fun to see and hear your reaction to the harvest. Hope the harvest continues to go well.
Thanks, when gardening ceases to bring me joy, I'll know it's time to lay down my tools.

Lovely parsnips I love it when they fork as they always make me laugh, I've asked for your journal for christmas xx
Yes, forked parsnips may not be the easiest to peel, but they are invariably 'interesting'!
Your "alien" parsnip would win a prize at the fair!
It would indeed!

Wow, they're huge! Fantastic!
Great video and nice haircut... Well done! 🙋♀️
Yay! Thank you!
Great video Liz. I don’t grow any Parsnips, but will definitely be growing in the next growing season. Thanks
They are super easy to grow as long as you don't sow them too early in the year.
Wow, what a monster parsnip there from the compost, hope it tastes delicious.
Thanks Julie, I'm just about to cook it, so I hope it tastes wonderful.
😮 That's the craziest parsnip harvest I've seen! 😀
Thanks!
There banging well done you😊😊😊😊
Yes, I'm really pleased with them.

Liz hope you're well as this has been the first video of yours I've seen in months ❤

Thanks for watching and also for responding to other viewers queries, it's much appreciated.
Good video
Lovely!
Thank you!
Congratulations! I also had a good crop :)
Oh that's good news Dolly. Is your garden finished for the year now or can you keep some stuff going through the winter?

Yes, I think that's the reason they react with my skin. I know it happens with lots of people too.
Where did you get the seeds for these parsnips? They're amazing!!!
I'm pretty sure that they were from Unwins seeds, but they could have been Kings seeds. Either way, they were Improved Hollow Crown variety.
@LizZorab Thanks 👍👍👍
Do you have a good technique
for grilling parsnips? Thanks for the video.

They say they're sweeter after a frost

@@LizZorab great! I'll hang on a bit then. No frost yet in Northants 😊
And I’m watching this on…..
cracking havest liz
Thanks Steven, I was really pleased with it!
I have some that say sow putdoors in november...does that mean they take a year to grow?
