This is a great reminder for me, Michael! No matter how many times a person has done animation this is a great video to watch as a "Pre-Project Pep Talk" before launching into something new. It's tempting to want to rush through the initial planning stages and just get to animating. The Pop-Through is a pretty brilliant method! I know all about pre-viz animatics, but the pop-through is a new one to me and is just fantastic! The Robert Zemekis Red Dot is also a great reminder: Where will the eye be led? Do you need to be a good at drawing to create a good storyboard? I am terrible at drawing and I am trying to find a way to make storyboards in my computer. Is there another way I can make a good storyboard?
No, not really. Because what matters in storyboarding is your skill and understanding of composition of the character and timing of the scenes you wanna make. But ,I think it's better to be be good at drawing too, because at least it's easier to look at (without make it too confusing who is who in a certain scene)
