A word to the wise - I don’t think you should wait so long between movie reviews of a particular series. It’s been about 2 months. Fans of these films will lose interest in your channel if you don’t do your reactions within a decent amount of time (say, no more than a week or two). Just my suggestion.

Possibly my favorite book/movie in the series because of how well it balances everything, from trying to capture the same whimsical atmosphere of Hogwarts, to the sessions of Harry learning about Voldemort's memories, it's all good
This is probably my second favourite behind Prisoner of Azkaban. I just love how much we learn about the wizarding world and it's past in prisoner. Plus it introduced Sirius who is easily a top 3 character for me
The book is way better than the movie. Was so disappointed that all the stuff about Tom riddle was removed from the story so there’s a huge chunk of development and background missing from Voldermorts childhood.

Yes! And also all those scenes of Harry being all witty(?) and upbeat, especially on Felix Felicius 😂 I love that as well as the deep background history on Voldy and even his family.
Interesting little detail about why Hermione is suddenly bad at potions, which also feeds into how you could've figured out it was Snape: Snape always puts his potion recipes on the blackboard, while Slughorn goes strictly by the book. Snapes method means his improvements are already incorporated in it.
Always confuses me why the actual potions books suck. They are the standard for making potions but the instructions are terrible in comparison to Snapes book. Snape is the potions teacher and clearly is very smart, yet all the resources for learning potions seem 10 steps behind Snape lol
This book and movie was so dark and grim. I'll never forget reading this book when I was a kid and finding out Dumbledore died but having to wait for the final book to come out. It was crazy.
Fenrir Greyback is a werewolf who is loyal to voldemort. he’s known to be violent, where he particularly liked to attack children more. in retaliation to Lupins dad who said that “werewolf’s deserve nothing less than death” he attacked Remus as a child and gave him lycanthropy.
Fun facts: Hero Fiennes Tiffin who plays Tom Riddle/Voldemort at age 11 is Ralph Fiennes' nephew. The relationship between Tonks and Lupin is also expanded more. In the book, Harry and Ginny's first kiss was after a Quidditch game in front of everyone. In the movie, after Snape reveals himself as the Half Blood Prince, there is no further explanation. But in the book it is explained that Snape was a half-blood and his mother's maiden name was Prince, hence where he got the name. Hermione actually figures this out. Bellatrix is given a larger role in the movie. In the book she did not not attack the Burrow with Fenrir Greyback (that whole sequence is not in the book at all) and she is not among the Death Eaters who Draco smuggles into Hogwarts. In the book there is a long fight sequence between The Order of the Phoenix members and students vs. Death Eaters. Ron's oldest brother Bill Weasley's face becomes disfigured after he is bitten by Fenrir Greyback, but thankfully it wasn't a full moon so Bill didn't become a werewolf. He did however develop some wolfish tendencies such as liking very rare steaks. He and Fleur Delacour (from Beauxbatons who competed in the Triwizard Tournament) were engaged at this point. Dumbledore's funeral was cut from the movie, as well as all scenes with the Dursleys.
Half-Blood Prince is my favorite book and movie of the HP series. Rob is right, it is extremely different from the book (although I think Goblet is the one least like its book). This one has just the right mixture of humor and romance and adventure and heartache. It also helps to see that Draco wasn't quite as inherently evil as he originally seemed. Still not a good guy, but definitely not deserving what he faced.
the only thing I disliked about this book (and it might be more of a critique of the next, so I'll say this without spoilers) was that Non Verbal spells being taught, never really had any follow-up
idk if Bryce was told this but Snape's mom's last name was Prince who was a witch and his dad was a muggle , hence he's the half blood prince. and in the books the felix felicis kinda helped in ginny and dean's breakup. the horcrux cave was the cave where tom riddle as a child, brought two children from the orphanage and he terrorized them there. this was the reason Dumbledore first came to know abt Tom riddle and the cave so thts why probably in his research of looking for other horcruxes, Dumbledore looked in tht cave. oh and the little tom riddle is older voldemort actors nephew, he's the actor in the after movies series, which if u haven't watched it, keep it tht way, they're rubbish. loved the reaction cant wait for the final movies reaction.
In the books Ginny and Dean broke up from dean witnessing Ginny cheating. The books Harry and Ginny’s first kiss was the tournament party. It was when Ginny won the game in Harry’s place as seeker while he was in detention from hurting Draco. Dean dropped his glass witnessing Harry kissing Ginny and then she kissed back
Hard disagree, Lily. I always hated the Harry/Ginny pairing. It never felt like a natural pairing to me. Rather, it felt contrived, forced. Rowling even admitted as much, if I remember. She wanted so much to avoid Harry with Hermione (which was her natural inclination, but she thought it would be too cliché). So, she had to figure out a back-up plan, and this is the result. It is admittedly _better_ in the books than in the movies, but that's not saying much at all except that Daniel and Bonnie just have _zero_ chemistry together. Even in the non-romance scenes in all the movies, all of their interactions are wooden, stilted, and awkward.

You agree it’s better in books, we both aren’t biggest fan of how they did Ginny in movie, not enough chemistry between them two in the movies, and only disagree is liking the couple. Movies I liked them and all have different opinions. I recall in the movies and books there being small foreshadows to Ron and Hermione around each other and luckily in the books it explains how Ginny became friends with Harry first and was over the chosen one thing. Never liked him because he was chosen one but cause they had stuff in common. But it’s fine we all have different opinions( also Ginny only dated other guys purposely to get Harry jealous. It was her best friend hermiones idea just wanted to bring that up)
This movie is my fave because of the Draco sub-plot. The music in them is beautiful, and it does a great job at showing how much pressure Malfoy has been under and the fact that he doesn't really want to do Voldemort's bidding. He was set an almost impossible task as punishment for his father failing to retrieve the prophecy, and had Voldemort living in his home all Summer. The bathroom fight/sectumsempra scene is so good, as is the Astronomy tower confrontation.
I don’t care for the astronomy tower scene because it makes no sense. In the book Harry is under the invisibility cloak when Dumbledore freezes him (petrificus totalus, I think). He does not simply tell him to wait below. No one, other than Dumbledore, knows he’s there. How did they pass him without seeing him if he is already visible, and why wouldn’t he fight Snape up there? The spell is not broken until after Dumbledore dies. There is also the whole part where the Death Eaters have to battle The Order Of The Phoenix and Dumbledore’s Army before getting out of the building. In the confusion, TOOTP and DA don’t attack Snape because they think he is still on their side (which I won’t elaborate on further at this time) and don’t realize that he just killed Dumbledore.
I will always feel so bad for Draco in this movie. It was visible from the start, that the ,mission' that Voldy gave him was overwhelming him. Both him and Harry looked petrified after Dumbledore's death, & I can't blame them.
I mean I feel bad because either way he was meant to be killed. If he didn’t do it and snape didn’t do it he would’ve been killed but if he did do it and snape didn’t do it for him he would’ve been killed because Voldemort thought it belonged to the wizard who killed the previous owner. It was all a punishment for Lucius when he failed to get the prophecy :/ Draco would’ve died either way if Snape didn’t do it.
It's so crazy that the cabinet's and the necklace is actually mentioned in the 2nd book, Nearly Headless Nick once got Peeves to throw one of the cabinet's so that Filch would run out of his office and forget about giving Harry detention (for walking in the castle with mud on his shoes of all things). And it's the other cabinet that Harry hid inside when he was in Knockturn Alley. While Harry was hiding in the cabinet Draco was looking around the shop and he stopped at a necklace and was about to touch it when his father said not to, it read that it had killed multiple muggles.

interesting Potter behind the scenes... the actress who plays Bellatrix- Helena Bonham Carter, had an affair with the actor who played Lockhart- Kenneth Branagh and it ended his marriage to the actress who played Trewlawney- Emma Thompson. Emma had it written in her contract that she never had to be on set when Helena was filming... they had been good friends before the affair.
Luna belongs to Ravenclaw, and there is no rule that you should sit only behind your house's table. Kids from different houses can sit together behind any table. As I remember correctly, this kind of "rule" is applied only to the major holidays, grand dinners and in the beginning (sorting ceremony for 1st years) and end of the school year (who wins the house cup).

Snape regretted all his life having made the wrong choices and begged Dumbledore to solve these mistakes, forgive him and take him under his fold. And Dumbledore sees the errancies of Snape in Draco, and Snape sees his own errancies in Draco, that is one very powerful reason why he took the Unbreakable Vow with Draco's mother, that is why he is seen multiple times trying to connect with Draco in the movie. This movie/book is ALL about Snape and Draco mirroring Snape's own life/actions. It's even the title of the book/movie.
They do not explain it in the movie, but Snape called himself Half-Blood Prince because he is a half-blood wizard (his father was a muggle) and his mom's maiden name is Prince.
in the books ginny is my absolute favorite. shes so cool and the movies did her EXTREMELY dirty it actually hurts my soul 😭 also harry and ginnys relationship was super cool. just two badasses in a super equal relationship
Harry and Ginny are my favorite part of the series. It definitely goes way more in depth in the books. I dropped my book no the floor when I first read it. Still a good job with the movie. Enjoyed Bryce’s reaction! You guys rock.
the boy (hero fiennes-tiffin) who played young voldemort at the orphanage is the nephew of the actor who plays present voldemort (ralph fiennes). i thought that was cool how they got his actual family member to play young him.
There was no reason to add this scene at the Weasley's since it didn't happen in the book. They should have added more of Tom Riddle's back story instead. Way more crucial to the overall plot. 24:33
the cinematics of this film are so pretty, it’s one of my favorites (besides Goblet of Fire) esp. because i feel like it’s the final film before the sh*t REALLY hits the fan.

The Dumbledore scene in the cave was much harder to read in the books. Reading Harry's thoughts on this and hearing him reassure Dumbledore was powerful.
half blood prince is my fav hp book too, it perfectly encapsulates the charm of hogwarts, harry's budding romance with ginny (IN THE BOOK!!!!!), the wizarding world changing for the worse as the war looms ahead..oh the constant feeling of dread while I was reading it for the first time can never be replicated but it still hits those spots.

The expelled half-giant The young werewolf The repentant Death Eater He protects them and gives them a second chance. All he asks in return is their loyalty. And, if on occasion he requests that they undertake a certain task, invoking their debt of gratitude - well, that is no more than he is owed. He once thought to add a certain disowned Black to his collection, but quickly realised his mistake. Sinus is not an outcast, but a rebel. He knowingly chose his path, and chooses what price he is willing to pay for it. He refuses to be used. So Albus Dumbledore abandons him. Dumbledore knows Sirius' loyalty lies with Harry instead of him, and he has no use for someone who is not willing to follow his orders without question. Harry was an outcast due to a childhood filled with abuse and neglect. Vernon made him an outcast by dismissing his claims of magic, berating him, locking him in a CLOSET and putting bars on his window, and let's face it, even though her editor made her cut it out, Jo intended for there to be physical abuse. Petunia made him an outcast by enabling and contributing to this abuse, as well as making Harry do dozens of chores while doting on Dudley. Dudley made him an outcast by bullying him and threatening any students at school who wanted to be his friends. And the rest of the wizarding world made him an outcast when they bullied him for being an outsider. Harry James Potter became an outcast the moment he was placed with The Dursleys. And who put him there in the first place?

This Harry Potter movie was sooo good, I really enjoyed it! Seeing Snape kill Dumbledore was one of the saddest things ever! RIP Dumbledore! Can't wait for the final two movies, so excited to see you guys react to them. I love seeing Hermione crush on Ron and Ron being totally oblivious! I also like Harry and Ginny but I do feel like they cut out a lot from the books so their story kind of feels rushed and out of nowhere!
I don’t think they enhanced Hagrid’s height but it’s not Robbie Coltrane in those shots. When you see him looking so much bigger it’s his body double - Martin Bayfield who used to play rugby for England and is 6ft10
They also had the double in that huge Hagrid suit to increase his size but there was no say they were going to make Hagrid look 11 ft tall. They barely managed 8 ft.
When Dumbledore fixed the house, he put it back to the way it was before the owners went away and not the way Horace left it. If the previous owners had left the house less than clean etc, then they would have returned from their vacation to find it as they left it. Dumbledore did not clean the house, he just left it in the same condition that it was in before the home-owners went on vacation.

Christ, I forgot how much the Ginny/Harry interactions in the movie make me want to die inside. So much cringe 😂 they did Ginny and that whole relationship so dirty in the movies. They go so well together in the books and are part of why book 6 is one of my favourites. I also wish they hadn't inserted the weird cafe/missed date scene at the beginning. Was looking forward to Dumbledore turning up at number 4 privet drive and having the Dursleys get nudged on the head and attacked by glasses of mead xD

This movie was my biggest disappointment in the series. I read the book before the movie came out and I was SO EXCITED to see all about Voldemort's past and the search for the Half-Blood Prince, yet nearly all of it was absent from the movie to be replaced by annoying romance just because they realized that they had glazed over important bonding in previous movies. As a result, Ginny's character feels weird and her flirting with Harry comes out of nowhere, and she has very little personality compared to the books. One might say "well they had to cut parts to fit it in a movie time", but then they had the time to add the Death Eaters attacking the Weasleys' house when the scene is nowhere in the book AND creates confusion fo the next movie when Harry goes back there. In the book, it was a safe place, the movie changes that for no good reason. The movie isn't bad at all, but compared to what it could have been? Huge disappointment. The Half-Blood Prince shenanigans is barely a side story.
Same here, but for different reasons. I damn near threw a fit when they just skipped the entire astronomy tower battle in particular. But they could have given us so much more... all the Voldemort backstory, Harry being too obsessed with Malfoy and the half-blood prince's book to give a shit about Dumbledore's assignments. I don't think the romance is a strong point of these series, even in the books. I don't hate it like some people, but I don't care either way whether it's mentioned or not. There is much too much plot that is contextually important or at least helpful that I'd rather they had left in instead. So much information gets skimmed over in the last 3 movies that they become hard to follow, especially for people who never read the books.
OMFG. I just realized that Voldemort wanted Draco to kill Dumbledore so that he could kill Draco & become the wand's new owner!!! That's why Draco was so fucking scared, because he knew that too. lmao damn. I read the books too and I don't think I ever picked up on that.
This isn’t true. Voldemort didn’t know Dumbledore was the owner of the elder wand until much later. He tried to get the information out of Grindewald and he refused to talk so he killed him, and then correctly guessed that Dumbledore took the wand from Grindewald after he defeated him
Awesome video keep up the good work & i have a blast watching the movie & it was my favorite movie & seeing harry having a good year in hogwarts in his six year without getting a bad dream every single night it worth it & just a fun fact that the Harry Potter movies & books all came out during my time period & I was younger than the main character of harry potter & if would be crazy if I was in a harry potter movies & me being right beside harry as his little sister so he won’t be alone anymore & this movie can end so well if I was in that movie then it will be worth it & if I’m happy then harry will be happy too as brother & sister ☺️
Wouldn't the Death Eaters have to get out of Hogwarts the same way they got in, or do the protective enchantments blocking entry/exit end with Dumbledores death cause he set them in place?

Hard disagree, Lily. I always hated the Harry/Ginny pairing. It never felt like a natural pairing to me. Rather, it felt contrived, forced.
Rowling even admitted as much, if I remember. She wanted so much to avoid Harry with Hermione (which was her natural inclination, but she thought it would be too cliché). So, she had to figure out a back-up plan, and this is the result.
It is admittedly _better_ in the books than in the movies, but that's not saying much at all except that Daniel and Bonnie just have _zero_ chemistry together. Even in the non-romance scenes in all the movies, all of their interactions are wooden, stilted, and awkward.

You agree it’s better in books, we both aren’t biggest fan of how they did Ginny in movie, not enough chemistry between them two in the movies, and only disagree is liking the couple. Movies I liked them and all have different opinions. I recall in the movies and books there being small foreshadows to Ron and Hermione around each other and luckily in the books it explains how Ginny became friends with Harry first and was over the chosen one thing. Never liked him because he was chosen one but cause they had stuff in common. But it’s fine we all have different opinions( also Ginny only dated other guys purposely to get Harry jealous. It was her best friend hermiones idea just wanted to bring that up)
This movie is my fave because of the Draco sub-plot. The music in them is beautiful, and it does a great job at showing how much pressure Malfoy has been under and the fact that he doesn't really want to do Voldemort's bidding. He was set an almost impossible task as punishment for his father failing to retrieve the prophecy, and had Voldemort living in his home all Summer. The bathroom fight/sectumsempra scene is so good, as is the Astronomy tower confrontation.
I don’t care for the astronomy tower scene because it makes no sense. In the book Harry is under the invisibility cloak when Dumbledore freezes him (petrificus totalus, I think). He does not simply tell him to wait below. No one, other than Dumbledore, knows he’s there. How did they pass him without seeing him if he is already visible, and why wouldn’t he fight Snape up there? The spell is not broken until after Dumbledore dies. There is also the whole part where the Death Eaters have to battle The Order Of The Phoenix and Dumbledore’s Army before getting out of the building. In the confusion, TOOTP and DA don’t attack Snape because they think he is still on their side (which I won’t elaborate on further at this time) and don’t realize that he just killed Dumbledore.
I will always feel so bad for Draco in this movie. It was visible from the start, that the ,mission' that Voldy gave him was overwhelming him. Both him and Harry looked petrified after Dumbledore's death, & I can't blame them.
I mean I feel bad because either way he was meant to be killed. If he didn’t do it and snape didn’t do it he would’ve been killed but if he did do it and snape didn’t do it for him he would’ve been killed because Voldemort thought it belonged to the wizard who killed the previous owner. It was all a punishment for Lucius when he failed to get the prophecy :/ Draco would’ve died either way if Snape didn’t do it.

It's so crazy that the cabinet's and the necklace is actually mentioned in the 2nd book, Nearly Headless Nick once got Peeves to throw one of the cabinet's so that Filch would run out of his office and forget about giving Harry detention (for walking in the castle with mud on his shoes of all things). And it's the other cabinet that Harry hid inside when he was in Knockturn Alley.
While Harry was hiding in the cabinet Draco was looking around the shop and he stopped at a necklace and was about to touch it when his father said not to, it read that it had killed multiple muggles.

interesting Potter behind the scenes... the actress who plays Bellatrix- Helena Bonham Carter, had an affair with the actor who played Lockhart- Kenneth Branagh and it ended his marriage to the actress who played Trewlawney- Emma Thompson. Emma had it written in her contract that she never had to be on set when Helena was filming... they had been good friends before the affair.

As I remember correctly, this kind of "rule" is applied only to the major holidays, grand dinners and in the beginning (sorting ceremony for 1st years) and end of the school year (who wins the house cup).

And Dumbledore sees the errancies of Snape in Draco, and Snape sees his own errancies in Draco, that is one very powerful reason why he took the Unbreakable Vow with Draco's mother, that is why he is seen multiple times trying to connect with Draco in the movie. This movie/book is ALL about Snape and Draco mirroring Snape's own life/actions. It's even the title of the book/movie.
They do not explain it in the movie, but Snape called himself Half-Blood Prince because he is a half-blood wizard (his father was a muggle) and his mom's maiden name is Prince.
in the books ginny is my absolute favorite. shes so cool and the movies did her EXTREMELY dirty it actually hurts my soul 😭 also harry and ginnys relationship was super cool. just two badasses in a super equal relationship

the boy (hero fiennes-tiffin) who played young voldemort at the orphanage is the nephew of the actor who plays present voldemort (ralph fiennes). i thought that was cool how they got his actual family member to play young him.

There was no reason to add this scene at the Weasley's since it didn't happen in the book. They should have added more of Tom Riddle's back story instead. Way more crucial to the overall plot. 24:33

the cinematics of this film are so pretty, it’s one of my favorites (besides Goblet of Fire) esp. because i feel like it’s the final film before the sh*t REALLY hits the fan.

half blood prince is my fav hp book too, it perfectly encapsulates the charm of hogwarts, harry's budding romance with ginny (IN THE BOOK!!!!!), the wizarding world changing for the worse as the war looms ahead..oh the constant feeling of dread while I was reading it for the first time can never be replicated but it still hits those spots.
This is one of my favs of the franchise and one of my favs to rewatch! I just love the tone of the movie so much and the whole story of this one

This Harry Potter movie was sooo good, I really enjoyed it! Seeing Snape kill Dumbledore was one of the saddest things ever! RIP Dumbledore! Can't wait for the final two movies, so excited to see you guys react to them. I love seeing Hermione crush on Ron and Ron being totally oblivious! I also like Harry and Ginny but I do feel like they cut out a lot from the books so their story kind of feels rushed and out of nowhere!
I don’t think they enhanced Hagrid’s height but it’s not Robbie Coltrane in those shots. When you see him looking so much bigger it’s his body double - Martin Bayfield who used to play rugby for England and is 6ft10
They also had the double in that huge Hagrid suit to increase his size but there was no say they were going to make Hagrid look 11 ft tall. They barely managed 8 ft.

When Dumbledore fixed the house, he put it back to the way it was before the owners went away and not the way Horace left it.
If the previous owners had left the house less than clean etc, then they would have returned from their vacation to find it as they left it. Dumbledore did not clean the house, he just left it in the same condition that it was in before the home-owners went on vacation.

Christ, I forgot how much the Ginny/Harry interactions in the movie make me want to die inside. So much cringe 😂 they did Ginny and that whole relationship so dirty in the movies. They go so well together in the books and are part of why book 6 is one of my favourites. I also wish they hadn't inserted the weird cafe/missed date scene at the beginning. Was looking forward to Dumbledore turning up at number 4 privet drive and having the Dursleys get nudged on the head and attacked by glasses of mead xD

This movie was my biggest disappointment in the series. I read the book before the movie came out and I was SO EXCITED to see all about Voldemort's past and the search for the Half-Blood Prince, yet nearly all of it was absent from the movie to be replaced by annoying romance just because they realized that they had glazed over important bonding in previous movies. As a result, Ginny's character feels weird and her flirting with Harry comes out of nowhere, and she has very little personality compared to the books. One might say "well they had to cut parts to fit it in a movie time", but then they had the time to add the Death Eaters attacking the Weasleys' house when the scene is nowhere in the book AND creates confusion fo the next movie when Harry goes back there. In the book, it was a safe place, the movie changes that for no good reason. The movie isn't bad at all, but compared to what it could have been? Huge disappointment. The Half-Blood Prince shenanigans is barely a side story.
Not to mention the whole fight between the Death Eaters, The Order Of The Phoenix, and Dumbledore’s Army after Dumbledore’s death.
And in a few years time we will hopefully get a faithful adaptation with the TV show coming, doing the book justice :)

Same here, but for different reasons. I damn near threw a fit when they just skipped the entire astronomy tower battle in particular. But they could have given us so much more... all the Voldemort backstory, Harry being too obsessed with Malfoy and the half-blood prince's book to give a shit about Dumbledore's assignments. I don't think the romance is a strong point of these series, even in the books. I don't hate it like some people, but I don't care either way whether it's mentioned or not.
There is much too much plot that is contextually important or at least helpful that I'd rather they had left in instead. So much information gets skimmed over in the last 3 movies that they become hard to follow, especially for people who never read the books.

OMFG. I just realized that Voldemort wanted Draco to kill Dumbledore so that he could kill Draco & become the wand's new owner!!! That's why Draco was so fucking scared, because he knew that too. lmao damn. I read the books too and I don't think I ever picked up on that.
This isn’t true. Voldemort didn’t know Dumbledore was the owner of the elder wand until much later. He tried to get the information out of Grindewald and he refused to talk so he killed him, and then correctly guessed that Dumbledore took the wand from Grindewald after he defeated him
