      Also, Draco was raised to be the way he is. He was practically brainwashed by his parents to be a bigot. NOT saying it takes away his responsibility to all the awful things he's done, he still was an asshole. But it sure is easier to grow up to be a decent person in a right environment. And Sirius is proof you still have a choice even if your parents are horrible, it's just a very difficult one and can cost you your parents. Which was easier for Sirius because unlike him, Draco really did love his parents.

    1:22:38 something you might not catch unless you've read the books: when Tom is asking Slughorn about Horcruxes, he already knows how to make them. The camera closes in on a ring Tom is wearing. That ring was a Gaunt family heirloom - the Gaunts are a pure pureblood family who are direct descendants of Salazar Slytherin, one of the four founders of Hogwarts. Tom Riddle's mother was a Gaunt and he stole the ring from his uncle, his only living relative, and framed him for the murder of the Riddle family (his father and paternal grandparents who were muggles), who Voldemort killed himself. What knowledge Voldemort is actually seeking from Slughorn is if it's possible to make more than one horcrux, specifically making 7.

    • @livb6945
      @livb6945 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Not actually making 7. He asks about dividing his soul into 7 pieces which is not the same thing. One part of his soul stays in his body so he means to make six horcruxes

      @livb6945 Yes, that's right! My apologies, I misspoke. He wants to make 6 horcruxes, thus splitting his soul into 7 pieces. However, as his soul is so unstable he accidentally goes on to make 7, splitting his soul into 8 pieces, when he attacks Harry as a baby.

    "Severus..."
    That noise scared Harry more than anything else he'd gone through that night; For the first time, Dumbledore was begging.
    Snape didn't say anything. He merely stepped forward, shoving Malfoy out of his way as he did. The three Death Eaters stepped aside without a word. Even the werewolf seemed to crouch down.
    Snape looked at Dumbledore for a moment, and there was disgust and hate etched on the lines of his face
    "Severus... please..."
    Snape raised his wand and aimed straight at Dumbledore
    "Avada Kedavra!"
    A stream of green light shot out of Snape's wand, hitting Dumbledore straight on the chest. Harry's scream of horror never left his mouth, forcing him to watch, quiet and still, as Dumbledore was thrown into the air: For a fraction of a second he seemed to hang under the shimmering skull, and then he slowly fell backwards like a big rag doll, over the jagged edges of the wall and out of the view

    I understand why you were hopefull about Harry getting together with Cho in this movie. However, I am affraid that will never happen. The 5th movie dealt with their "love story" differently than the book. If you read the book, you will see their relationship simply falls apart in such way that during Harry's sixth year they don't dare to even get close to one another. The only thing that existed between them was mutual physical attraction and Cho trying to cope with Cedric's death by emotionally attaching herself with someone that shared the same pain as her. Basically, to her, Harry was a replacement to what she had lost. So, when the couple faced real troubles in their relationship, they didn't even bother to fix them.

    • @7thlittleleopard7
      @7thlittleleopard7 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      I don't think that's quite right. She was attracted to Harry before Cedric - she liked him. Probably a crush. While, yes, they couldn't go back after it fell apart, Harry wasn't a replacement for Cedric, it was just really bad timing. She should have given herself time to grieve before starting a relationship with anyone - she was still dealing with the loss and it's not that easy to move on after a tragedy like this.
      The thing is, yes, she did compare her relationship with Harry against her relationship with Cedric, but it wasn't like she didn't like Harry and was only using him for a bandaid fix to her emotions. Sadly, though, Harry was never going to win against her angelicised memories of Cedric, especially so soon after the fact. Rose Tinted Goggles and all that shit. But she did actually like him and did want to go out with him, but like Hermione said, she was likely feeling a WHOLE LOT of emotions every time they were together and his connection to Cedric's death just didn't help the situation at all.
      Maybe if they'd waiting for her to actually grieve properly, it could have worked out. He could have been someone who understood her pain and she could have been someone he could lean on in troubled times, but it was far too much, far too soon. But hey, kids do dumb shit and don't really process when they need to take steps back and breathe a bit. Always in a hurry to move forward instead of giving themselves time to adjust. It's a great thing in some ways, but a terrible thing in others, and in this case it wasn't a good thing.

    • @4Tom4lepus4
      @4Tom4lepus4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@7thlittleleopard7 imo their relationship also showed a lot of immaturity and inexperience on Harry's part. He didn't know how to deal with the complex emotional state Cho was in, but he also wrote her off when things got bumpy, and ultimately the final nail in the coffin was that Cho stood by Marietta and Harry didn't even try to understand why she would. Which, imo, is a bit of hypocrisy from Harry, bc he would stand by his friends too.
      Cho wasn't in the right emotional space to start a serious relationship for obvious reasons, but I don't think Harry was either.

    I definitely empathize with Draco. Yes, he’s a bully. But only because his father bullies him. Most of his family are death eaters and he has Voldemort as a housemate threatening to kill him and his parents if he doesn’t do what he’s told. His father is in prison and Draco is being punished for his fathers failures. Also, do you honestly think Draco dying would stop Voldy murdering everyone he can? He would do it just to get back at Draco’s parents, then still kill everyone.

      In the movies, he's sympathetic boy on the verge of turning to the good side and has an abusive dad. In the books, he's heavily spoiled by his parents to the point where he casually says he "bullies" his dad into buying what he wants. He loves his parents very much and is always proud and defensive of them. If the Malfoys have one good trait, it's being a loving family and putting family first before their fear of Voldemort.

To anyone who hasn’t read the books, I assure you that Ginevra Molly Weasley is probably the coolest fucking person in the entire literary world. She’s brave, funny, smart, popular, and is meant for Harry. The poor dude would literally be walking around bouncing off of walls with no direction without her lol. You watch them gradually evolve from Ginny’s hero worship phase to the still shy and slightly embarrassed little sister, to the witty and funny sibling whom he enjoys a causal friendship with, to Harry noticing her more and more but being too dumb to realize to what he’s feeling, to “oh my god she’s my best mate’s sister but I can’t help it I’m in love with her.” I beg everyone to read the books anyway because the movies are subpar, but for nothing else read them to erase how dirty they did Ginny in the movies.

    The comment Draco makes on the train about ‘pitching himself off the astronomy tower’ always struck me in hindsight, especially seeing as that’s exactly where we see him later when he’s isolating himself and clearly going through inner turmoil about the path that has been laid out for him.
    On the train, it was just a snide comment attempting to be like his father by mirroring his hateful attitudes toward the school and Dumbledore, but we clearly see later that he doesn’t hate hogwarts at all, as we see his face when Bellatrix is destroying it. So perhaps, whenever we see him brooding silently, alone in the Astronomy tower, he’s in fact considering ‘pitching himself off’, as he so subtly indicated was on his mind…

    • @im_azraelle
      @im_azraelle ปีที่แล้ว +17

      wow, i had never thought about it that way before. Draco was actually showing a lot of classic signs of a suicidal person - mood swings, change of appearance (his weight loss + sickly appearance), his obvious depression when he was seemingly zoned out and moping, isolation, losing interest in things (notice how he had nothing to do with Quidditch that year), the crying and panic attacks. that whole thing he said about "pitching himself off the Astronomy Tower if he had to attend Hogwarts for two more years" (because he knew what he had to do while he was there) and "you won't see me in Charms class next year" really hits different now 🥲

    • @x_violette_x7713
      @x_violette_x7713 ปีที่แล้ว

      That is exactly what I had been thinking. I had thought he’d said “piss myself off the astronomy tower” but the sentiment is still the same. I didn’t realise it initially, but after seeing Draco in that split-second transition scene, standing at the top of the astronomy tower and looking out, it’s clear he’s likely contemplating it, especially as he’s then feeling riddled with guilt about the hex Katie endured from the cursed necklace he gave to her. He may have been a bully, but he had never gone that far before.
      I also think it’s really poignant that the astronomy tower is where the deed is carried out in the end. Sort of foreshadowing, as well as being a ‘make or break’ place for Draco. This probably added another layer of emotion, as he watched Dumbledore ‘fall to his death’ in the same place he could have done only a few months earlier.

    Harry tried to give Cedric’s dad his winnings from the TriWizard tournament, but Arthur ( Cedric’s dad) refused the money and so Harry gave it to the Weasley twins. They used it as capital to start their business. Oh and in the book when Dumbledore drank the poison as he was yelling “Kill me… it’s my fault” he was remembering the day his sister Ariana died. There was a whole duel between Dumbledore Aberforth ( Dumbledore’s brother) and Gellert Grindewald and one of the spells hit her and killed her and no one knew who’s spell it was. So he feels guilty about the whole incident.

    1:30 Talking about books - Half-Blood Prince is the best book in the franchise. Which means nothing, as this movie specifically is the worst adaptation in the whole movie series. It's nonsensical, it doesn't focus on the literal titular plotline, it gives extreme amounts of like movie only filler. Which - with how pretty it is and how good budget it got, it was a major waste.
    I genuinely wish that instead of the whole filler Burrow scene (that is against any lore we had of that part about safety), or that awful flirting scene in the beginning - they just gave us Dumbledore talking with Dursleys or more memories about Voldemort. Especially the one about his mother or maybe the one where he frames a house elf for unliving an old lady with some Hogwarts founders' items.
    26:50 Snape btw. was the student.
    40:20 He had to play it up for Umbridge - but guess who told Order to go to the Ministry? Snape was the one who actually saved them.
    1:22:45 Here Tom was twisting a ring... This shows that he already made one or maybe even two Horcruxes. Gaunt family ring, by ending his own father and grandparents. And potentially the Notebook - by ending Myrtle using the Basilisk.
    1:23:55 Technically the ring wasn't that hard to destroy. But Dumbledore made a mistake, by going alone - he got lured by it and got cursed, before he broke protective enchantments. And it's very visible later in the movie that he always needed to take a second person. As he would easily just unlive in the cave as well.
    1:26:40 This area is where Tom Riddle and his orphanage went for holidays. He used magic to take himself and some kids down the rocks to this cave. This is also where he tortured some of them. A significant place - first place he felt powerful
    1:39:15 So movie never really goes into that plotline. But through book - Hermione searches for Half-Blood Prince. Ultimately finding it. Snape's mother was from Pure-Blood family of Prince (not a title - surname). His father was an abusive Muggle. Like Tom Riddle - he picked a magical name to cut himself out from the trauma.
    1:41:40 I would also love for them to actually show us the funeral like the book did... But oh well.

    Some of the things that was in The Half Blood Prince book that was not in this movie. Dumbledore comes to visit Harry at the Dursleys home. He tells Harry that Sirius left a will and Harry inherited Sirius' Grimauld Place house and Kreacher. Dumbledore advices Harry not to free Kreacher because he knows too much about The Order of the Phoenix secret group. If Harry frees Kreacher then he is liable to go to Sirius' next of kins which would be his cousins Bellatrix Lestrange and Narssisa Malfoy. So Harry instead ordered Kreacher to go work in the kitchen of Hogwarts with Dobby in the mean time while Harry goes to school.
    Dumbledore also told the Dursleys off for being abusive to Harry and for raising spoiled Duddly in the way they did. A very satisfying moment in the books indeed. 😄🧙‍♂️🪄👍

    Dumbledore was 115 when he died.
    At this point Ron had never even kissed a girl. Ron is a little clueless about girls.
    There are a lot more memories about Voldemort in the book than there are in the movies. Young Tom Riddle's line in the book was actually "I can make bad things happen to people who *annoy* me.". I don't know why they changed it to "people who are mean to me" in the movie.
    Voldemort was punishing the Malfoys because Lucius failed to get the prophecy. That's why he chose Draco to try to kill Dumbledore. He was pretty sure Draco would fail and since that's what he would do, Voldemort expected Dumbledore to kill Draco or at least put him in Azkaban with his father.
    The Vanishing Cabinet at Hogwarts was broken and Draco was trying to fix it. That's why the first bird died.

    This movie left so much out but not having all the memories was the most unforgivable. The one I was looking forward to most was Bob Ogden visiting the Gaunts. I wish they'd cut back Lavander's screentime for more important things. Would've been cool to see the battle in the corridors when the death eaters are there, but thats a forgivable omission.
    They also left out all of the Professor Trelawney stuff, which was also actually important to the story, and made up a scene that never existed anywhere in any of the seven books instead. (It was actually to make up for the missing battle at Hogwarts, but ya know). The burning of The Burrow. That scene makes no sense anyway as their house is supposed to have been safeguarded at the time.
    This movie also makes a lot unnecessary changes but every one of these movies does that. There is one however I really wish they hadn't changed.
    When young Riddle is talking to Dumbledore at the orphanage I wish they hadn't swithed 'annoy' to 'mean,' as the former is so much more sinister for a child to say.

    Dumbledore vs Voldemort
    Fight
    ““I have nothing more to say to you, Potter,” he said quietly. “You have irked me too often, for too long. AVADA KEDAVRA!” Harry had not even opened his mouth to resist. His mind was blank, his wand pointing uselessly at the floor. But the headless golden statue of the wizard in the fountain had sprung alive, leaping from its plinth, and landed on the floor with a crash between Harry and Voldemort. The spell merely glanced off its chest as the statue flung out its arms, protecting Harry. “What-?” said Voldemort, staring around. And then he breathed, “Dumbledore!” Harry looked behind him, his heart pounding. Dumbledore was standing in front of the golden gates. Voldemort raised his wand and sent another jet of green light at Dumbledore, who turned and was gone in a whirling of”
    “his cloak; next second he had reappeared behind Voldemort and waved his wand toward the remnants of the fountain; the other statues sprang to life too. The statue of the witch ran at Bellatrix, who screamed and sent spells streaming uselessly off its chest, before it dived at her, pinning her to the floor. Meanwhile, the goblin and the house-elf scuttled toward the fireplaces set along the wall, and the one-armed centaur galloped at Voldemort, who vanished and reappeared beside the pool. The headless statue thrust Harry backward, away from the fight, as Dumbledore advanced on Voldemort and the golden centaur cantered around them both.”
    ““It was foolish to come here tonight, Tom,” said Dumbledore calmly. “The Aurors are on their way-” “By which time I shall be gone, and you dead!” spat Voldemort. He sent another Killing Curse at Dumbledore but missed, instead hitting the security guard’s desk, which burst into flame.”
    “Dumbledore flicked his own wand. The force of the spell that emanated from it was such that Harry, though shielded by his stone guard, felt his hair stand on end as it passed, and this time Voldemort was forced to conjure a shining silver shield out of thin air to deflect it. The spell, whatever it was, caused no visible damage to the shield, though a deep, gonglike note reverberated from it, an oddly chilling sound. . . . “You do not seek to kill me, Dumbledore?” called Voldemort, his scarlet eyes narrowed over the top of the shield. “Above such brutality, are you?” “We both know that there are other ways of destroying a man, Tom,” Dumbledore said calmly, continuing to walk toward Voldemort as though he had not a fear in the world, as though nothing had happened to interrupt his stroll up the hall. “Merely taking your life would not satisfy me, I admit-” “There is nothing worse than death, Dumbledore!” snarled Voldemort.”
    ““You are quite wrong,” said Dumbledore, still closing in upon Voldemort and speaking as lightly as though they were discussing the matter over drinks. Harry felt scared to see him walking along, undefended, shieldless. He wanted to cry out a warning, but his headless guard kept shunting him backward toward the wall, blocking his every attempt to get out from behind it. “Indeed, your failure to understand that there are things much worse than death has always been your greatest weakness-” Another jet of green light flew from behind the silver shield. This time it was the one-armed centaur, galloping in front of Dumbledore, that took the blast and shattered into a hundred pieces, but before the fragments had even hit the floor, Dumbledore had drawn back his wand and waved it as though brandishing a whip. A long thin flame flew from the tip; it wrapped itself around Voldemort, shield and all. For a moment, it seemed Dumbledore had won, but then the fiery rope became a”

      “serpent, which relinquished its hold upon Voldemort at once and turned, hissing furiously, to face Dumbledore. Voldemort vanished. The snake reared from the floor, ready to strike-There was a burst of flame in midair above Dumbledore just as Voldemort reappeared, standing on the plinth in the middle of the pool where so recently the five statues had stood. “Look out!” Harry yelled. But even as he shouted, one more jet of green light had flown at Dumbledore from Voldemort’s wand and the snake had struck-Fawkes swooped down in front of Dumbledore, opened his beak wide, and swallowed the jet of green light whole. He burst into flame and fell to the floor, small, wrinkled, and flightless. At the same moment, Dumbledore brandished his wand in one, long, fluid movement-the snake, which had been an instant from sinking its fangs into him, flew high into the air and vanished in a wisp of dark”
      “smoke; the water in the pool rose up and covered Voldemort like a cocoon of molten glass-For a few seconds Voldemort was visible only as a dark, rippling, faceless figure, shimmering and indistinct upon the plinth, clearly struggling to throw off the suffocating mass-Then he was gone, and the water fell with a crash back into its pool, slopping wildly over the sides, drenching the polished floor. “MASTER!” screamed Bellatrix. Sure it was over, sure Voldemort had decided to flee, Harry made to run out from behind his statue guard, but Dumbledore bellowed, “Stay where you are, Harry!” For the first time, Dumbledore sounded frightened. Harry could not see why. The hall was quite empty but for themselves, the sobbing Bellatrix still trapped under her statue, and the tiny baby Fawkes croaking feebly on the floor-”
      “And then Harry’s scar burst open. He knew he was dead: it was pain beyond imagining, pain past endurance-He was gone from the hall, he was locked in the coils of a creature with red eyes, so tightly bound that Harry did not know where his body ended and the creature’s began. They were fused together, bound by pain, and there was no escape-And when the creature spoke, it used Harry’s mouth, so that in his agony he felt his jaw move. . . . “Kill me now, Dumbledore . . .” Blinded and dying, every part of him screaming for release, Harry felt the creature use him again. . . . “If death is nothing, Dumbledore, kill the boy . . .” Let the pain stop, thought Harry. Let him kill us. . . . End it, Dumbledore. . . . Death is nothing compared to this. . . . And I’ll see Sirius again. . . . And as Harry’s heart filled with emotion, the creature’s coils loosened, the pain was gone, Harry was lying facedown”
      “on the floor, his glasses gone, shivering as though he lay upon ice, not wood. . . . And there were voices echoing through the hall, more voices than there should have been: Harry opened his eyes, saw his glasses lying at the heel of the headless statue that had been guarding him, but which now lay flat on its back, cracked and immobile. He put them on and raised his head an inch to find Dumbledore’s crooked nose inches from his own. “Are you all right, Harry?” “Yes,” said Harry, shaking so violently he could not hold his head up properly. “Yeah, I’m-where’s Voldemort, where-who are all these-what’s-” The Atrium was full of people. The floor was reflecting emerald-green flames that had burst into life in all the fireplaces along one wall, and a stream of witches and wizards was emerging from them. As Dumbledore pulled him back to his feet, Harry saw the tiny gold statues of the house-elf and the goblin leading”

    Once you been hit by Avada Kedavra there no turning back. its GG. The killing curse can't fail, ever. :c
    This was really sad scene just like how Gandalf the Grey fell. It kinda similar right. Both Gandalf and Dumbledore fell to their downfall. Only Gandalf came back but it was still heart breaking. RIP the greatest wizard who ever lived.

    Fun fact: im pretty sure that Daniel Radcliffe was actually high when he shot the scene with slughorn and Hagrid. Going down to Hagrids. THATS why he was acting like that and they just went with it. Plus it was perfect for the scene.

    When Dumbledore tells Harry he needs a shave, it is his nebulous way of saying he is now a man, not a boy.

    It's not a matter of Voldemort's trust tbh. Draco was tasked to do this by Voldemort as his father's punishment for screw ups. Not only the fiasco with the prophecy at the Minisry, but also the fact that Malfoy had the chance to use Tom Riddle's diary to fulfill Voldy's plans and they failed and that he was always cowardly when it came to real deal, like when Bartemius Crouch Jr. used the Morsmordre spell (Giant skull with snake in the sky) he was having fun with a group of death eaters in the camp, but when he saw the skull, he fled and so on.

    One thing that is a bit of a shame is that they didn't include all of the memories that Dumbledore had about Voldemort. The ones that they didn't include are as follows;
    1. A Ministry official visiting Voldemort's mother's family, the Gaunts, in their run down shack of a home, where you see that Voldemort's grandfather Marvolo (Voldemort's middle name) and his uncle Morfin are both crazed and inbred muggle haters who regularly speak to snakes, and that Voldemort's mother Merope was severely abused and that she ran away with a handsome Muggle man named Tom Riddle by bewitching him with a love potion. He later abandons her and she dies in the orphanage giving birth to Voldemort.
    2. Voldemort at the age of 16 visiting his Uncle Morfin and framing him for the murders of Voldemort's muggle father and muggle grandparents that very night. (Their abandoned manor house is the one that Voldemort was hiding in at the beginning of Goblet of Fire, where he killed the old caretaker)
    3. A young Voldemort in his 20's working at the dark wizard shop Borgin's and Burkes after Hogwarts, and while visiting a rich witch named Hepzibah Smith finding that she had a magical goblet that belonged to Helga Hufflepuff, as well as a locket that had belonged to Salazar Slytherin, an object that belonged to Voldemort's mother before she pawned it. That night, Hepzibah is killed by Voldemort by bewitching her house elf to poison her drink, and he steals the cup and locket.
    4. Voldemort in the 1960's, visiting Hogwarts to ask for a job as Defense Against the Darks Arts teacher, only for Dumbledore to suspect that Voldemort only wants the job to recruit followers. After rejecting Voldemort for the job, no teacher has lasted more than a year at the job, as it is now cursed out of spite by Voldemort's hand.
