- This is a spectacular home library that is filled with first editions of some of the world's most notable books: first editions of Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit, Les Miserables, King James Bible, Anne of Green Gables, The Count of Monte Cristo and much more!
I feel like that room of the old books smells amazing! One of the best smells in the world is books
Aye. And fragrance of women too. Especially, like, after they have got some soap over them .
It’s a distinct aroma
I’m currently reading The Hobbit for the first time (and loving it). When the first book you pulled out was The Hobbit, my jaw dropped.
Beautiful and impressive collection.
As a fellow bibliophile, this channel is quite possibly the best thing since the internet. Thanks for sharing! Such a wonderfully curated and diverse collection.
Your taste and collection are well on their way to competing with the Stewart-Gardener art collection in Boston.
Again thanks so much for sharing! I always joke TH-cam has become somewhat of a contemporary Library of Alexandria. Thanks for validating 😎
Great work on this collection Reid! Some real gems in here
Christmas came early! Thanks for the long form content, this is fantastic!
Thank you for this! What a fantastic collection.
Awesome collection!
Watching from Ireland 🇮🇪 amazing collection
straight from brazil! love your videos on TikTok and just stumbled upon you YT channel
Amazing collection. I like your style and taste . Respect ✊
Cottageville, Outside of Charleston, SC. is our location. The Bible from 1611 was amazing to see, thank you. I was going to ask for an early addition of Shakespeare but you beat me to it, again thank yoiu.
43:44 Now you got my attention. For me, the Holy Grail would be a first edition copy of Cook's voyages, with the folio volume. Also I want one of Vancouver, and a first edition Anson, and all the rest of them. Krusenstern, Langsdorff, all the South Seas explorers from the 17th and 18th centuries.
Pretty sure my dad has first edition lord of the rings set and Silmarilion. When I was young I remember my dad and uncle discussing who would have the books in their library.
Love the Tolkien collection! Signed editions are especially amazing.
Love the use of clam shell boxes...how do you determine when to use a clamshell...do you prefer a specific manufacturer? Thanks!
Very interesting! Watching from Finland
Thanks for watching!
Nice books. But I think a collection should have a focus, should be more individual. This just seems like a rich person's shopping list.
It's good to be king
😅
My jaw dropped when you pulled out Thor's hammer. Watching from Ohio and enjoying every minute💜
To have that kind of money.. Wow... Just wow
😮
Great curation. What recommendations do you have for sturdy bookshelves?
Hello Reid! Watching from Arizona. I’d love to see what Ben Hur books you have!
I figure my collection is worth about $20 thousand. This is just astounding.
marvelous
I wish we could see the whole room please!!!
That Harry Potter book is so dope zz. I need that
I’m really interested in book collecting, but not sure where to start. It seems like all of the second hand books I see are second hand.
I wonder if the store's collection includes Pippy Longstocking. I once met quite by happenchance the author of Pippy Longstocking. I was familiar with the book because of a school teacher who read the book to the class over a period of a few weeks.
Watching from Accra Ghana West Africa
Enjoying this content. It's the Christmas season, Charles Dickens or C.S. Lewis (?)
New or old the story is the main thing. If you can’t afford the rare, get the secondhand one
I like the thick bookshelves that don't sag.
The Good Soldier Sweik from Czech by Hasek?
35:45 I recognize that mug in the background. Is that the Holy Grail from Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade?
Edit: yes, it is. Dude has the literal Holy Grail on the shelf, as far as I'm concerned.
I would be deathly afraid of silverfish if I were you, ha ha.
How do you protect the books from vermin
Multi million dollar library, I'm sure it has humidity controls, and seals on the door
What state are you guys in
Would’ve really enjoyed seeing some Charles Dickens and my favorite, Mark Twain.
What’s your oldest Shakespeare? Any first editions ?
Hi from Australia. What a beautiful library. I am putting together a library and I have some questions... Is this library climate controlled? Also, I noticed many of the books seem to have their own protective box. Is that something you recommend? I have some valuable books and it worries me having them out on the shelf, but on the same token, I have been told that books need air around them circulating to prevent binding failure, mould and foxing etc. Would love to know your thoughts, or maybe you could do a video on how to protect valuable books in a library such as this. Cheers
Can I see this video from a horizontal angle?
Do you have the book of five rings by miyamoto musashi?
That super old Vulgate bible you have is so impressive. I would love to hold it.
any 17th century Cyrano De Bergeracs?
How much is the Latin Bible worth? ❤
Theres no pockets in shrouds.
Curious if you have any book with jewel binding? Or a very nice binding of the count of monte cristo? Or for that matter any very beautiful binded books?
Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde Annotated

Maybe I missed it but wouldn't you want to include Charles Dickens?
😮
Are there any Russian classics?
Do you have books about Demons, Angles, witches ect....?
Did you not see the large bible? hello
Shakespeare alone...
😮
I can't believe this only cost 4 million. Surely the title means this is the library of a 4 million dollar home?
Livingston book
How did these rare books come into One's possession?
it seems as though they would be normally in museum book vault environmental protective.
Seems really disconcerting this is what become of valuing reality
Won't the books get bleached by all the sunlight?
Why does he let it sit in a retail space and touch no gloves? lol like where’s the temp controls?
He answered the gloves question in the video
The price is clipped
If you have an original Gutenberg Bible please give me a ring :)
Really wanted to watch this, but filming in portrait on a iPhone makes it look like I'm viewing this through a keyhole on my TV. Shame.
This is cool, but I don’t really understand how this was created? Did the owner give you $4m and said pick all my books for me? That’s cool but also kind of sad in a way.
It seems unsporting to simply buy up a huge, precious collection like this, without the doing hard yards assembling your own.
INDIA
Enough with the marvel hammer. Isn't this a library?
Ok, you’re rich.
4 million dollar library in a country that is 42 in the world in Reading.
#1 military and #1 richest. Stop talking before I send my goons lol
Why. The hell. Do they keep. Interrupting him. Let the man speak!
Sure not using gloves is the correct way to open pages, but might I suggest a cushioned podium in this private library to protect the heavy handed handling of these precious books 😱
Quit interrupting the man
I want to see old books about Palestine
animal farm 1st
Looks like the library of some rich dude that can't read.
