Worth sharing some knowledge here incase it helps anyone. If you have a leak from around the front corners of your windows, it's probably not your top or the latches. The weather stripping around your doors might be ripped or torn. I noticed that my window was adjusted too high (or at least tilted too high in the front) and it actually ripped off a chuck of the weather strip that hugs the front edge of the window. The weather strip in question is the one that comes up from inside the door, up the back of the triangle window, down the front of the door, and wraps all the way around the bottom of the door, coming back up at the rear of it. Great info, my problem is that one bolt from each of the front striker plates has fallen out and I'm 'm unable to insert them back into place! Yep I discovered the plate moves, thanks. What would be a working replacement bolt?
Yeah, the striker bolts like to rattle out if they're not torqued down to spec and if you don't use a couple dabs of Loctite. The stock bolts are a good replacement. You can find them through Mazda, or even places like Moss Miata may have them.
Do you know of a source for the plastic trim that covers the base of the stock door mirrors where they mount to the door? If not, where did you get the mirrors on the car in the video?
Hmm, good question. I'd reach out to one of the Miata specific salvage sites we have on our website here help.flyinmiata.com/does-flyin-miata-sell-used-parts-HJ6UkPUT8
Could you please do a tutorial on the NC PRHT? Could you explain how to lubricate the PRHT? I bought the proper lube, but I'm unsure of how to lube the joints....Thanks
@ivorwm2291 Great suggestion! We'll add this to our internal list of video topics. In the meantime, it's likely that the Factory Service manual would have some tips on where and what to lubricate.
@vincentlallo6543 It would probably help us to understand your issue a bit better if you're able to take some pictures and email them to our Support team at Support@flyinmiata.com. We look forward to hearing from you!
Could you guys do a tutorial on when to tell if your top is too far forward or slanted when installed, my new top has a perfect seal on the driver window but on the passengers the window pinches the seals, about a quarter of the way before the window is fully closed and both sides still leak water 😢
You might loosen the straps that come down from the roof bow to make sure it's not causing the issue. If not, you can look at our instructions for the soft top seals on how to adjust your window. s3.us-west-1.amazonaws.com/instructions.flyinmiata/exterior_29/ILMotorsport_softtop_seal_kit_29-19100.pdf
Both of the Miata’s I’ve had, I’ve had to pull the top forward with crazy force to try to get the latch to hook onto the striker plate, even after full adjustment. I drove an 04 with 40k miles and realized the top on that immediately falls into place and I just have to activate the latches to lock it in place, no forward force and struggling necessary. Apart from moving the striker plate back, what would I have to do to fix this?
We usually have this issue with new tops so, you might loosen the straps at the rear of the top that come down from the roof bow to make sure they are not causing the issue.
My driver side latch RHD NA has the same problem. I always lead with the passenger side since that gives a nice, firm, deep seal so I can put all that extra force on the driver side. I always look real closely to see if there's any small light gap to know it's in properly. Otherwise I get a small slightly damp patch on the driver side floor mat after a night of rain. Which happens a lot here in Ireland.

For hardtops, do the side latch nubs/striker plates have 2 different shapes, like the fronts?
