I haven’t done formal writing with my daughter. We are following a more CM style because assigning writing never ends well. She does transcription and we started dictation but I want to start a writing program. She loves to write for fun little stories and make them into “books” but I can not correct these writings. I was looking in their website and could not find an assessment or guide to place a student that’s not starting at the 1st/2nd grade level. I want it to be gentle enough that it makes it easy for her but not too below that she feels it’s for little children. We are at that age where “age appropriate” it’s a big deal. Thank you 💗

We are also doing Writing with Ease. We are now on level 2 and pair it with First Language lessons. I love how I can do it with both my 1st and 3rd grader at the same time!

I love the idea of learning to write by using good literature to model after. My 13 year old is not at all interested in writing. I should look further into this.

Yes, that's the next series. I don't think my son will be quite ready for that next year so we'll take a bit of a break. But I do want to get into it eventually!

This year, my oldest (5th grade) is using Essentials in Writing. We may go back to Writing with Skill at some point, which is what comes after Writing With Ease. But with all the changes in our life this year, we needed something a little less teacher intensive!
