It sets quickly because they add calcium as they mix it. If they dont add calcium it could potentially take hours before its time to expose the aggregate. It IS a Portland cement based product. NPT Pool Plaster (and all other plasters) are a mixture of Portland cement, aggregate (pebble, glass bead, quartz, marble), color pigments. It came out very "wet" because they probably mixed in a plasticizer that makes the plaster use the water more efficiently and makes it easier to work with a trowel and most importantly makes it easier to pump without adding additional water. The more water you mix into portland cement the weaker it becomes. Just a few more bits of knowledge. The only difference in pool plaster brands is the quality of the aggregate. Pebbletec is a "Premium" brand because there pebbles are very old and dense, they measure this through a scale called MOH hardness, that measures porosity. The more dense the stone and less porous, the better it is for a waterproof environment. That being sad, who cares if the pebble will last 1,000 years or 100 years. The portland cement between the pebbles is the REAL failure point. Swimming pool water is very aggressive and will slowly eat away the cement that binds the pebble together. You get about 15-25 years out of any pool finish if you treat water correctly over the life of the pool.
Beautiful color looking to do something similar Ever get any issues with this darker plaster fading comments about darker getting hotter temps ? Thanks
Little bit of both-darker plaster is more likely to have a “blotchier” appearance, many people still choose it knowing that though, it can even give it a more natural look with a little unevenness to the color. Definitely makes the water warmer too
please i am strongly considering this process, i would like to shoot the landing , wall, and step black and a blue on the floor or bottom, my contractor is very experienced i am worried about the color transition, is a 2 color process is ill advised ?
i just did a 2 color , black landing ?steps , the rest light blue, 2 months in and more con's than pro's , if i had to do it over i would go with dark blue/ ,

Very nice - impressive!
Thanks for the video. How do they get out of the deep end when they are finished? Can they just walk over what they just did?
They use big foam “moon shoes”
So whats the ph level like after the pool was filled with water was this plaster installed in summer in the heat
We have a startup company handle the chemistry
Is the calcium wee add to heat up the batch depending the temp wee about 4/5cups of cal
whats with the dark finishes these days? Some of these new pools look like Florida pond water.
Excelente equipo de trabajo acabados super bonitos y limpios saludos bendiciones muy bue edición de video

Ok I want to see how the last guy gets out of the pool! Do they hold him by his ankles to trowel that last few spots? SHOW US!
It's a very clean install but way too many different types of materials and colors for the entire patio area.
