Your video quality is so insanely good, your work looks super professional and you're very entertaining. Honestly would have expected you to have many more views and subscribers. This is exactly the type of content I enjoy watching here on TH-cam. Thank you!
An update on how the pool is doing would be awesome: - How long did you wait for paint to dry before filling with water ? - Dit it/does it make water milky white ? - Any unintended effects you have seen ? - Do the edges peel off, since when you remove frog tape it leaves a bit of exposed edge. - did you get any paint on the deck ? How did you cleaned it ? I followed your video (for the most part) to paint my pool this week and everything went smooth, I am waiting at least 3 days before filling. Thanks!
Hello 👋 We waited 5 days to fill the water. The water was milky at first but we had a pool person clear it up with chemicals. We haven’t noticed any problems from the frog tape edges. No paint on the deck, we had the epoxy solvent from Olympic so we used that to clean some of the tools but I don’t know that it will work after the paint is dry. A few months after we had a pool person do a strong chemical treatment because the pool got green for a bit (due to lack of maintenance not the paint) so after that there was peeling on a couple places that we think were caused by the strong treatment to bring the water back to normal, but after that we haven’t had any problems. So we learned to keep up with the pool to avoid that from happening again. Other than that the family has been using it all summer and loving it :) I hope that helps…
I've seen a couple videos from pool companies that have stated you should wait a minimum of 7 days, or if weather is humid during curing, up to 14 days before filling.
Hi I recently painted our in ground jacuzzi per a contractors suggestion. The paint bubbled at the bottom in certain spots. I allowed it to dry thoroughly but when the bubble burst or dried up it formed this honeycomb texture with little craters. If you walk on it the paint is sharp and can cut your feet. Did you experience anything like this when painting?
Best video i have watched so far. A few things missing but with the links I should be able to figure it out. You are more professional then some of these actual professional pool painters trying to explain it. Cheers
I use to have a pool business in Vegas, ran into same problem she did and after acid washing I even tried painting the pool after making sure there was no chem residue on the plaster , every dam time no matter which brand I used the paint would chip off a year later
Very informative video. Good job on that and family team working. Thanks for the recommendation of supplier. Looks very professional. Gonna try their products on my first swimming pool paint project.
Ima little confused about how the condition of the pool was how it was from the beginning of the video? This pool never had any plaster ? It was exposed gunite ?
Great job!! My dad passed away and I purchased my childhood home. The pool is gunite and I remember doing the family painting project on it quite a few times but I was young and have no freaking idea what I'm doing. Did you add anything to the steps to keep them from being slippery?
@@Brandon-os3qr ~ you say people say that pools will collapse without water. I said this is a gunite pool with 3’ thick walls. Google gunite pools and see how they’re built.
outstanding! I'm about to do the same with the same product. Do you happen to have a pic of the color with the pool filled with clear water? My last step is picking a color.
Yes, if you have Instagram send me a DM and I’ll send you the pic I have. At the end of the video the last shot the pool had water but the water was still a bit cloudy. My IG instagram.com/diy.tiff?igsh=ZGtvMTIxcW1pamNw&
nice very detailed i thing i will use this but i need to know how much prime you used and how many gallons paint. for your pool? i understand all pools are not same square footage , i just like to know how many gallons of each you have used. ? thanks again
Looks great! Can I ask, when watching the video, I could tell if you patched the steps or not because I can see it looks like underneath the paint the plaster was cracked and coming up. Did you patch the areas on the steps? Because we need to.
@@pochostudio8618 I haven’t been there in a while, but my family hasn’t mentioned any bad news. I will say to make sure to keep up with the maintenance after wards because strong chemical treatments if the pool gets green will cause the paint to chip in places, that’s the only issue we’ve had, that I’m aware.
you would have never known this pool was in a sad state for years seeing it's new look. i remember on the gaming channel i cant remember which one it was that a pool project was mentioned was this the pool from the story?
Hey there, was it empty because it was leaking or just empty but the pool was a-okay (does not leak)? My DIY pool is currently leaking, and ive been looking for ways to save it :'
Hi, this pool was not leaking, it just wasn’t maintained for a long time but the pool was ok. Unfortunately I’m not familiar with what to do if it’s leaking.
I don’t remember the exact amount, but I believe it was around 6 cans of primer and 7 of paint. I remember we bought 12 of each and ended up returning some.
@@Tony-fn7cb I bought it on amazon. I have the links on the description of the video and the website for the paint. I highly suggest to check the website out and do some research before buying since pools can be different, the website has all the information you need to buy the right product.
@@Tony-fn7cb Hi, I did this about a year ago and it was available then, unfortunately I don’t have control of their stock so you might have to research for an alternative if it’s not available. For the return I was able to contact the company that sold the paint through Amazon and they authorized a partial return of paint. I had to pay for the shipping though. It was a bit of a process but it was worth it.
If you look up close, its looks like crap. Because the concrete wasnt re coated. There is chipped and rough texture paint cant fill in. Lightly grind sand concrete, recoat using concrete repair, then paint.

Do you know which chemicals the pool company used that messed up the paint?
This way, we can all stay away from it in the future.

Probably has to do with surrounding ground. How dense the surrounding soil is. Idk just my guess
Was there any cracks or chipping plaster in the pool before you guys added the epoxy primer

With 2-part expoxy, do you need a primer coat?
The product I used recommended we did a primer coat
Do you know if they make a clear epoxy? My pool has a nice plaster color to it that i don't want to hide.
For what I’ve seen on their website they only have solid colors, no clear
Is the pool painted concrete or old plaster?
Old plaster, it was not previously painted
