    That mothers cry of his name when she saw him was so painful I could feel her heart drop and I just know that mom saw her life flash before her eyes when she saw her child like that I'm so glad he survived and I bet she is too

    We're talking about toddlers... They can very easily be playing with them and all of a sudden the next thing you know the toddler is being strangled by the cord. This video is about promoting awareness. Good on ABC

      I totally agree on what your saying, and me loosing my baby in such a tragic way, is not my fault, when some are saying that it is, I know for a fact that parents are unable to watch over their children for 24 7 we need to do laundry make lunch and it only takes one second for tragedy to strike and I have every safety mechanism in the world. children will be children and you can't blame a mother who has just lost their baby.

      I agree with you. The internet is just full of idiots and trolls.

    • @PoetTheXtra
      @PoetTheXtra 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +Shgu I totally sympathize with any mother that has lost a child, but precautions have to be made for the safety of the children. I work in public school in Pre-K and I cannot allow myself to assume that a child will not try out certain things if I put it in their reach. That goes for scissors, tape, a stapler, etc. I have to make sure I don't put temptation in their face. We do get busy sometimes, but parents must check behind themselves to protect their children because like you said, it only takes one time. I think that's how others feel, yet they are just saying it in a more direct manner.

    • @getnotoriousXBL
      @getnotoriousXBL 8 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Poet The-Xtra
      The fact of the matter is no matter how alert and watchful you are kids are kids. You're not going to see everything.. Accidents happen. The reason why you know how to safety proof and what to keep away from kids is because accidents happened and lives were lost or severely impacted by these accidents.
      The main issue is the trolls looking to bully and saying insensitive shit about children dying. These are sad cases and because they happened we're able to learn from them and education people. There is a direct difference between bullying and having an opinion, you're fine but some of these people should be ashamed of themselves.

    • @PoetTheXtra
      @PoetTheXtra 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +getnotoriousXBL Yes. I totally understand. I hate hearing about any child getting injured badly or dying. It definitely is a scary thing. We all have to be mindful of people's feelings, especially those who have lost a loved one.

      Are you kidding me? Are you saying that because taking care of baby is difficult if the kid plays and something happens then it’s his/her fault? Well in that case let’s keep the kids in cages. Is that what you think? Kids don’t think in the consequences of their actions ‘till they have 6 years at least. If something happens to a child the responsibility goes all to their parents and there is no excuse to give when talking about how well do you take care of your child. You do it right or you just simply don’t.

      @makenziesteiner1567 4 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      @@jimenamendiola6460 you can look away for a second and that's how long it takes. Sorry that parents around the world arn't "super mom". Many parents don't even know of this hazard. This happens to thousands of children. If you don't have blinds at your house you might be visiting grandma's house and it could just happen. Then just like that your child is gone. Accidents happen. Especially in Parenthood. Just pray this won't ever happen to your child, because no matter how good of a parent you are, everyone's at risk.

    my child too was tragically. killed from a corded blind while she was waiting for my husband to come home from work. unfortunately companiesm don't understand what it means when you do all there is to protect your children, and taking corded blinds off the shelves would be a big "relieved" moment for our family and know that our precious baby had some rest to her life.

    i dont have kids, BUT i have always cut off the knot on blinds cuz of my animals. first thing if i was a renter. if i owned the blinds were replaced with curtains...no more blinds. cats have a big risk of hanging themselves with blinds, playing with it, then jumping down off the ledge. boom,hung cat. i had a cat when i was a kid hang. not by blinds but by a leash. my mom had put out kitty on a leash and my sister moved it to close to a set of outdoor stairs. kitty climbed up stairs, and jumped thru the rails. she hung herself and i found her. age 14, i was so hysterical i couldnt even talk...it is something i wont ever forget. ever since then i am hyper vigilant on making sure there is nothing at all in my home or outside that can hand any animal.

    It’s a silent danger when people don’t realize it could strangle. You just can’t imagine something like that happening, but the chords are fixed tightly and they form a loop, so they can act as a hanging contraption. Kind of morbid to think of it that way, but the image might remind people to be extra careful.

    some of you are so ignorant saying the parents should have been watching their children closer. This can happen in a matter of seconds and I bet most of you judging the parents would never have hesitated to buy blinds with cords thinking something like that could never happen to you. I seriously doubt any of you would ever be the perfect parents you imagine yourself to be.

    It takes less than 1 min to die, this can be so quick that can happen to every parent. It is so important for the parent to prevent danger but sometimes it may occur in a situation that you couldn't even imagine. I am a mother of 2 and I am obsessed about children safety, it is on my mind all day and night but as I said you can't even see it coming. Once I read about a little girl who was chocked with her school back's belt. Accidents can happen and it is so terrible.

    I don’t blame the parent in this situation. The important part is that she caught it and the child survived. These window blinds are a hazard to small children who don’t know better. When a parent is looking at all her children the child could appear to just be standing weirdly (something kids do regularly). The manufacturer should be held accountable and need to ensure the child safety of there products if they are going to be sold. I’m glad this one ended happily

    This exposes a heart issue. Since when did money become more important than the lives of children? It's sad that people don't place value on life anymore. If this was my company I would have made it my business to change the design of blinds right when the first child lost their life. We live in a sick money hungry world.

      +Jaylin Hogan You don't have to be hanging to be choking, you can be playing with the cord and you may not even notice it's around your neck and you turn around and start to leave when suddenly to start strangling yourself. Not sure how it would even around your neck but ti could still happen..

    Not everyone has children and there are so many other things that children could injure themselves on (cables, knifes, pens, dolls with long hair, and of course any kinds of cords). Raising awareness is good but banning something that specific is stupid.

    If you want your baby to be safe why are there window blinds in the baby's room and why is the crib next to the window why don't you move the crib away from the window that way the baby won't get stuck in the cords or just have curtains instead or just leave the window bare that's what I would do and I don't have kids this video makes it look so easy for kids to harm them self with the blinds cord how would a baby get stuck in it so easily they would need to be so close to the window and climb up the side of the crib to get stuck my advice is don't have blinds in the baby's if they are not needed keep the crib away from the window and maybe have curtains or a bare window even a window shade would be safer
