You forgot the L92 (truck 6.2L) and L76/77. The L76/77 are probably the most hard to find, because they only came in the Pontiac G8 GT and Caprice PPV (L77). The L76 is kind of a bastard engine. It has a 4.000" bore for 6.0 displacement, but the cylinder heads are similar to the LS3 and the engine has displacement on demand. The L76 was basically detuned from the factory. Big ups.. to my brotha and sistas in Russia.. thanks for viewing 340... remember anything you can do to a 6.0 you can do with a 5.3.. basically the same engine.. what you working on out there brotha?
coverman66 I'm taking it apart to check rockers, bearing etc., change all the gaskets and do a valve job. PAC 1216 springs, 230 cam, LS6 intake manifold and swapping it into a Volvo wagon along with manual tranny :) We now have a few guys who can tune them via HP tuners so I will be not a problem. Actually I've bought it for $1200 (complete take off with harness, ECU and all the accesories) but LQ4/9 starts here at about $2300 and up so I decided to keep those money for the actual engine build. LS1/2 starts at $3300, LS3/L92 - $5000 and up, and LS7 are about $10k - pretty expensive because of our customs. And we had not so many cars which had those engines (LSx), but Tahoe, Express vans, Hummers H2 and some Yukons were sold officially here so LM7 and LQ4/9 are the only way to go if you're on a budget just like I am :)
wow.. customs always get their money.. i wish i could ship some of these engines over there.. they are about half.. but like anything, they are going up.. sounds like that volvo will be kicking.. i want to see a pic whenever you get a chance brotha..
coverman66 I'll send you some pics when there will be something to watch, now I'm building the engine itself, maybe this winter it will crank... Thanks anyway, waiting for updates from you! ;)
Hi, I have a 06 Trailblazer SS and to my knowledge, it has an LS2 but has an iron block instead of the aluminium block. The Corvette LS2 is an all aluminium block. Also, the LS2 was introduced in 2005 in the Corvette if I'm correct. Love your post and keep up the good work.
Nice find. I would love an LY6 but Im going to make do with a 2011 LC9 5.3 I scored for $200.. My first LS build..I can't wait. Its going in a striped C4 vette go cart.
Thanks for the info man it took two years for you to get me on the LS train lol because I'm old school but the LS makes more sense I'm doing a LS swap in my 1967 Buick Lesabre Convertible and in my 1948 Ford F1 truck I really appreciate the info much love brother👊
That was a fantastic explanation and I REALLY appreciate the comparison and history notes. I'm currently in the process of researching viable possibilities for an upcoming build, so, while the LY6 might not be the best fit for that one, this certainly gave me pause to reconsider it as an interesting possibilty as well as giving me a few other lines of reasearch to follow up on(there are more LSs than I realized). Anyway, you've definately earned my subscribe and I look forward to watching more!
thanks Cam.. much appreciated.. there is an LS for everyone and every thing.. there are a few more LS engines but its about the budget.. what car is it going in? thanks again..
yea i heard they are 327s. lolol thanks for the compliment.. i try to make them interesting to capture and keep the viewer attention.. thanks again donald..
coverman66 no, thank you, I've been out of the dealer so long I didn't even know about the Ly6, which is pretty much exactly what I was looking for! a 6.0 with factory square ports for an lsa supercharger swap!!!!!
Sammy, there’s no difference.. the L96 replaced the LY6 in 2010.. The L96 is flex fuel compatible that’s the only difference everything else the same.. Same engine!
i have an all aluminum 5.3 that had 144000 miles on it.when i pulled the heads it still had the cross hatch in the cylinders.GM is the masters at achieving the cross hatch.
Just subbed to your channel. So glad I found you and this channel. I am a old school guy I am 59. Have worked on cars my whole life and had many including vets. Last car I plan to build is my 1978 Trans am. It currently has a 400 with a small shot of nitrous oxide. This car will be probably my last build I have had it for 30 years now. Looking to possibly swap out the motor. With so many options its a little confusing for this old guy as I do not know anything about the LS engines but now learning more everyday. Thanks for sharing all the info as I am looking to do a cheap build you know kinda but I am a 6.0 or larger fan myself. Thanks again
Why not an LQ9? Do they come from the factory with 435 hp? I bought a running 2004 Cadillac Escalade for $800. Looking to build with no boost, an everyday driver with about 550 hp. Need some info. I do not do any mechanical work. Thanks!
Hows she going? I have a 69 Chevelle I'm restoring and I have seen the light lets say and plan on dropping a 6.0 liter LS engine into it. I've built a few gen 1s and 2s but this will be my first LS build. I've narrowed it down to either a LQ4, LQ9 or now after watching your videos maybe even a LY6. I'll just have to educate myself more on The LY6's VVT. So my question is what is the most milage you would consider when shopping for a used LS 6.0 liter engine that hopefully doesnt need a trip to the machine shop. Thanks
thats a great question.. it varies.. if you can see the engine in the car would be great.. most of the time the engine is out and you cant really tell the condition of the engine until you take it apart or at least the oil pan.. truth of the matter, its a crap shoot.. buy and pray.. most of the times these engines are bullet proof. ive seen people put engine in with over 300000 miles and turbo them without issues.. hopes this answers your question..
Traderz if the engine isn't in the car, always assume there is a reason they didn't leave it for you to hear or see it run. AGearHead4Life here on TH-cam has some really excellent videos on building and executing a run stand before you go through all the work to drop an engine in without scratching your baby, just to find out the engine s junk. best of luck.
also, I see more need for rings and bearings than machine work as in recent years more and more manufacturers are going to low tension rings and tighter tolerances, meaning the engine s more like a two stroke dirt bike.....just rering it regularly (when it starts burning oil)
whats good Traderz.. whenever you build a used engine and dont know the history you are always taking a chance.. ive seen engine with 300k and fresh as day one. then i seen engine with 15k and needing a total rebuild. unless you see the mileage on the vehicle the engine is coming out of. your at the sellers mercy.. you just cant tell the milage by looking at the block.. thats the sad reality brotha.. be careful on your hunt..
i have a 1972 4x4 blazer 4 speed with a 1970 z28 camaro 350 lt1 very fun to drive but i want a ly6 with the 4 speed will it be a lot of work and ur thoughts on the swap mainly for camping trips and taking the boat out maybe a lil fun in the mud
its not that difficult.. they make plates to mate that 4spd no problem. you will be loving it. keep me posted.. Dont forget to give the Thumbs up on all my videos.. lolol got more cool videos coming..
coverman66 I misstyped I was trying to say Ls9. I am a big block guy myself, I have a 72 Nova with a fairly stout 1970 ls6 454 in it. It is awesome to see you post messages to viewers though.
no doubt.. if it wasnt for the viewers, this video thing would not be. so i always find time to answer.. yes the LS9 is an awesome block.. so is that 454 in your nova brotha.. im sure that light car move very nicely lolol thanks Shaun..
What years are desirable? 2003 Yukon Denali coming up at salvage auction. VIN has engine code 'U' so its a 6.0. No further information on the engine. Should I look for a newer year???
L76 is a good option as well. 6.0, but with the square port LS3 style heads. The square port heads make it relatively easy to do an inexpensive (relatively speaking) LSA supercharger. They are on the cheaper side for an aluminum block, $2500 or so for complete engines with harness, computer, and accessories.
@@Coverman66 been reading about LS engines and several builders consider the L33 a stock race engine. But I'm from the school of there's no replacement for displacement. My first vehicle had a 429. So I'm researching at this time. Gonna drop it in my F100.
Hey can you be honest with me I purchase two of this engines after your video now people are telling me I can use the 700r4 transmission on it that I have to go drive by wire and a 4l or 6 transmission
I am a new subscriber!!! Yay me!!!! And I am new to LS engines. My question is, with only knowing the year and size(2011 Silverado 5.3) how do we know just exactly what engine do we have? Gen3,Gen4, etc. Thanks for the info!!!
hey how you doing I have an ly6 also with 823 heads out of a van. but my heads are rectangle did the ly6 come with rectangular and square Port heads thanks in advance

Hey Bro. I'm Walker from Dubai, Yr speech about engines is AWESOME 🍒 I would love to take yr advice for my 1982 Corvette !!! Which engine U recommend me to fit into my car. Note: Need powerful Engine approx 400 HP or more. Thank you Sir.
whats good Walker brotha.. i would recommend the LS3, its over 400 out of the box. the LY6 is becoming a older engine where the ls3 are still available with low miles.. if your budget by all means get an ly6, or a l92.. you might not have to do a cam swap to get over 400. that might be achievable with a tune..
whats good Bryan, i drove a year with my ly6 and t56 6pd.. it was fine.. but i wanted more low end torque that whay i removed the vvt.. but it worked great..
You got it boss! Max power is not my goal, but I do want substantial power gains above the 305 tbi in my Mullet - Mobile lol....Durability/Reliability with +300 hp and lbs ft is what I am after. Do you think you were at least getting those types of numbers? Also will there be a problem installing the ly6 to a 90s 5 speed trans? Thanks
not at all they make bellhousings to adapt to any tranny to a LS.. on my ly6 i did a cam swap and that was pretty much it and i got 450/430 and thats at the rear wheels.. so yes you can make those number easy..
im trying to get a camaro with an ly6 motor swap. its a 4th gen and id never heard of this motor, thanks for the info, i really hope i get this camaro.
on the front of the engine it will be labeled LY6, on the back you will find casting number that when you look them up will tell you its a ly6.. the quickest way is to look and if its a cast 6.0 with 823 heads its a safe bet that its an LY6. then cam in chevy/gmc trucks and vans..
The LQ4 and 9 are basically the same engine. Just slightly less compression and a few less ponies. But don't go past them if you are looking for the iron block / l92 head combination. Don't forget to swap out the needle roller rocker trunnions for the comp cams, smith brothers or Brian Tooley's bronze bushing rocker trunnion set if you're looking to make serious HP out of yours, the last thing you want is a stock roller bearing exploding and depositing over 20 tiny roller needles throughout your engine and doing worse damage by blocking off oil flow. I'll also be upgrading to the LS3 2.20 and 1.65 valve set, get an original good quality chevy set on Ebay for under $200, dont pay $400 for manleys or whatever. I'm looking to make around ~1200 Hp from my LY with twin turbskies, and I'm ordering a built 4L80 that will handle the power , manualised with a reversed valve pattern and A Kilduff engineering Lenco-style multi lever shifter that will work like a lenc. Always wanted a lenco in a street driven car, now I kinda can have one lol
Was going to put a ls1 engine into my chevy c10 1965 but you have now talked me into a ly6 im 14 and you have really inspired me bro keep up Im also thinking about choping 4 inches off the roof (chop top) also question what kind of tranny should i put in there if im using it for racing auto or 6 speed manual.. thank you so much
Hunter thats great your taking this on at 14.. love hearing about the new generation getting into these old rides.. do your thing young man.. if you need anything hit me up.. im a 6spd t56 guy.. if your racing you might want to go with beefed up 4l80 auto.. let me know which route you take.. ..
i just got an LM7 and an L76 both for 950. Theyre basically short blocks both in great condition. Im gonna build both but not sure which to do first. Its going in a back halved 69 camaro rs with a chassisworks rear frame clip n canted 4-link, front end suspension bolt ons, built ford 9", wilwood discs all around, ive got about 25grand in suspension/steering/rearend. Its a daily driver and the goal is 5-600hp (easy for these motors right?) So i could easily go either way. I want something stout as hell (the 5.3 then right?). Everyone turbos the 5.3 (im going to boost it for sure) so i kinda wanted something different maybe do the 6.0 straight motor and carbed. Nothing like the sound of a carbed v8. I dunno maybe you had a thought about something cool to build yesterday and might wanna share?
I have an LQ 9 but it came with square port heads. Can you tell me the cam that will give me the best power 2000-6000. 1/8 mile camaro 456 gear 2700 lbs. Naturally aspirated. Im running a Holley 950.
hmmmm, i would call a cam combany like Brian tooley, Howards cams, engine Power systems. these guys can give you a better cam choice.. thats whats they do. lolol thanks for the questions and keep me posted..

Terry, my ears piqued at the 7 minute mark when you mentioned 408CID. I have a '05 GTO with TexasSpeed headers & cam (224R). my question, is sleeve work required? how high can I go without replacing the sleeves? is 408CID as high as you can go after replacing the sleeves? thanks!
i would if i stepped up to a 408.. that pretty much the limit on a 6.0. some say it would be too much.. but everyone has an opinion lol thanks for viewing ..
Definitely looking at thr LY6 with a cam and truck style intake for my Silverado. The new Ecotec V8s have constant lifter issues which I'm very likely going through but the dealer keeps telling me it's the direct injection that's causing thr ticking sound. Anyways my ride is a 2015 Silverado 1500 2wd double cab with the 5.3L, 3.42 gears, intake and muffler delete and a 3inch lift with 33.5inch tires on 20s. Going from a aluminum 5.3 making 350hp to a aluminum 6.0 and another 100+hp to the wheels would be great. Will definitely upgrade to 3.73 gears and possibly a upgrade the stall converter
Thank you. Just looked up the ly6 and realized it's an iron block. But the L76 isn't. I know they're not common but will start my search this weekend. What LS parts can swap compatible with it. I would like to use a FAST Lsx Intake manifold. I know they're pricey but I think it'll pay off with a big GM cam , 90+mm throttlebody and tune

Big ups.. to my brotha and sistas in Russia.. thanks for viewing 340... remember anything you can do to a 6.0 you can do with a 5.3.. basically the same engine.. what you working on out there brotha?
coverman66 I'm taking it apart to check rockers, bearing etc., change all the gaskets and do a valve job.
Thanks anyway, waiting for updates from you! ;)
no problem.. updates coming soon..
Hi, I have a 06 Trailblazer SS and to my knowledge, it has an LS2 but has an iron block instead of the aluminium block. The Corvette LS2 is an all aluminium block. Also, the LS2 was introduced in 2005 in the Corvette if I'm correct. Love your post and keep up the good work.
the ls2 are aluminum blocks.. they did come in vettes first.. thanks for the info and the cimpliment.. much appreciated.
Nice find. I would love an LY6 but Im going to make do with a 2011 LC9 5.3 I scored for $200.. My first LS build..I can't wait. Its going in a striped C4 vette go cart.
thanks a very good score.. thanks going to make that vette scream man.. keep me posted with the build.. thanks
Thanks for the info man it took two years for you to get me on the LS train lol because I'm old school but the LS makes more sense I'm doing a LS swap in my 1967 Buick Lesabre Convertible and in my 1948 Ford F1 truck I really appreciate the info much love brother👊
hahaha.. let me know if i can help in any way.. thanks brotha Landon.. thats going to be a sweet ride..
Great info! As I'm still learning the ls world!! But danggg lsa on my 5.3 sounds fun!
L92 is an all aluminum 6.2 that came in the Escalade. You can get them for 2k-2.5k
true.. the LS3 are coming down a lil as well.
5.3 is 325 I believe. nice video man, I like your on screen personality. no bs, just helpful info. thank you.
yea i heard they are 327s. lolol thanks for the compliment.. i try to make them interesting to capture and keep the viewer attention.. thanks again donald..
coverman66 no, thank you, I've been out of the dealer so long I didn't even know about the Ly6, which is pretty much exactly what I was looking for! a 6.0 with factory square ports for an lsa supercharger swap!!!!!
thats why its my favorite block to build.. big bang for the buck.. always great hearing from you brotha Donald.. keep me posted with your build..
Where can I get a accessory drive for a 2008 G 37 with a LSA
LSsimple.net
Killer video brother, I have a 2015 Silverado 2500 L96, what is the difference to a LY6?
thanks brotha Sammy.. much appreciated..
Sammy, there’s no difference.. the L96 replaced the LY6 in 2010.. The L96 is flex fuel compatible that’s the only difference everything else the same.. Same engine!
I have a rod knock in my ls1 trans am should I rebuild it or throw in a ly6 with the ls3 cam (vvt delete) and ls3 Intake manifold
i would got the LY6 route for sure..
i have an all aluminum 5.3 that had 144000 miles on it.when i pulled the heads it still had the cross hatch in the cylinders.GM is the masters at achieving the cross hatch.
slap those head back on, start it up and get to rippin Marc. lolol i might be able to get another 144k out of that engine..
You seem very passionate and know your stuff. When you start talking to yourself, I know you have lots of knowledge and experience.
whats good Neal... ive always loved cars and im glad it shows in my vid clips.. thanks you for the kind words.. and for viewing..
Just came across your vids. Good stuff man! Keep um coming!
thanks Reg.. much appreciated brotha..
thanks for viewing and alot of videos on the way..
He even kind of talks like him (Ali)
hahahah.. you think.. thats the first time ive heard that lol thanks again..
I didn't think about that when I saw his first video but he does look like him...
I just said that lol
What cars/trucks come with the LY6... convinced me to start looking for one
lolol cargo vans and pickups from 07 and up
By far the most real, thanks bro!
Thank brotha AJ.. much appreciated..
What cars can you find the LQ(, LQ$ and LY6 in?
GM vans, cargo vans and pickup truck. if you find a 6.0 engine and it has 823 heads chances its a LY6 block.
He's a real mechanic!
Thanks brotha D.. i love these ride man.. always have..
Thanks again
thanks brotha Daniel.. much appreciated..
Why not an LQ9? Do they come from the factory with 435 hp? I bought a running 2004 Cadillac Escalade for $800. Looking to build with no boost, an everyday driver with about 550 hp. Need some info. I do not do any mechanical work. Thanks!
you can get a 6.2 and cam with a tune and that will put you in the ball park..
@@Coverman66 When you say to get a 6.2. Do you mean by a 6.2 or get the 6.0 machine to 6.2 specs?
Yup pretty much sums it up i guess thanks
I love this fried video... I'm no mechanic, but I want a LS motor in my Caprice...
let me know when your ready i will walk you thru it no problem..
Bro that mini fro is looking " Baby Fresh". 😂😂. Thanks for the info. Good vid
lolol thanks brotha James.. the fro goes through changes every now and then lolol thanks for viewing..
This is the first video I've watched of you! i;m sold!! subscribed!!
thanks Brotha Dano.. much appreciated.. its all about sharing the knowledge..
Man I’m struggling to decide what to do with my trailblazer Ss I’m at that road what should I do? 2020 lifetime problem
do tell. how can i help get your build done brotha TNT?
Great video man. I'm late to the LS game and was looking at a ly6 for my 70 Chevelle. Thanks for making it an easy decision.
lolol all about sharing the Knowledge brotha Stephen.. thanks
i have a 1972 4x4 blazer 4 speed with a 1970 z28 camaro 350 lt1 very fun to drive but i want a ly6 with the 4 speed will it be a lot of work and ur thoughts on the swap mainly for camping trips and taking the boat out maybe a lil fun in the mud
its not that difficult.. they make plates to mate that 4spd no problem. you will be loving it. keep me posted.. Dont forget to give the Thumbs up on all my videos.. lolol got more cool videos coming..
I believe the L9 also has piston oil squirters in the bottom end to keep pistons cool
Whats up Shaun, the LQ9 is a great engine to build.. either way you go you cant miss.. do you have the engine or are you looking for one?
coverman66 I misstyped I was trying to say Ls9.
Good video you sure have a strong passion for engines. You are a true gear head. Thanks for the video
thats the best compliment you could give me.. thanks brotha Brice.. thank you for viewing..
Are you going to throw the LSA blower or there with the stock bottom end or would you swap out the pistons and rods for forged ones ?
all my LSA installs are stock bottom ends. and i will we do Hawthorne the same way lolol
What years are desirable? 2003 Yukon Denali coming up at salvage auction. VIN has engine code 'U' so its a 6.0. No further information on the engine. Should I look for a newer year???
i like the ly6 engines because of the LS3 heads on a cast 6.0. the newer the block the better. nothing wrong with a 6.2 out of an Escalade
Right you are UG, the l76,l92 and l99 are pretty much in the same boat.,.good all aluminum blocks
What do you think of the L33?
its not a bad lil engine.. are you thinking of getting one?
@@Coverman66 been reading about LS engines and several builders consider the L33 a stock race engine. But I'm from the school of there's no replacement for displacement. My first vehicle had a 429. So I'm researching at this time. Gonna drop it in my F100.
nice i like the build already.. if it was my build id go with a 6.0 or 6.2. because of the displacement. but a 5.3 is a great engine..
I have a 87 cutlass. I would like to put a ly6 in it...where would I need to start...as far as what's parts I would need for this swap
Picking up a ly6 for my foxbody. Would love to go 408 with a single turbo.
see thats just crazy power lolol are you planning on running it?
coverman66 Would like to it have pretty much as a garage queen, lol. Some shows and track time as well. Mainly hobby.
nice.. i would say with that setup your looking to be in the 700 club... rear wheel of course.. lolol
So glad I came across this channel! Thanks alot! Great information
Alex im glad you stopped by and liked what you saw.. its all about sharing the knowledge brotha.. thanks again..
How much is too good of a deal?
lets just say i bucked up without thinking about it lolol
Very informative and helpful!!! Thanks.
thanks NSTC.. much appreciated
Hey can you be honest with me I purchase two of this engines after your video now people are telling me I can use the 700r4 transmission on it that I have to go drive by wire and a 4l or 6 transmission
Change the throttle body and computer. Make sure it pins out
I am a new subscriber!!! Yay me!!!! And I am new to LS engines. My question is, with only knowing the year and size(2011 Silverado 5.3) how do we know just exactly what engine do we have? Gen3,Gen4, etc. Thanks for the info!!!
usually gen 3 heads have cathedral port heads.. gen 4 are rectangular port heads.
Great video man love the break down. 6.0 all day💪
my pleasure brotha Andrew. like the way you think..
hey how you doing I have an ly6 also with 823 heads out of a van. but my heads are rectangle did the ly6 come with rectangular and square Port heads thanks in advance
thats the beauty of the LY6.. those 823 heads are ls3 heads which flows better than the catherdral port heads..
im just starting to dig into the ls world (im 25) and going to do my first ls swap and im stuck between the lq4 lq9 or the ly6 would i still be okat going the lq route?
lq route is a good route. the advantage the LY6 has is the ls3 heads.. depending on what you do with the LQ engine you should be good.
@@Coverman66 i really dont know where to begin lol theres sooooo much info out there
Your like Wikipedia of engines. I subscribed! Got a 6.0 in my gmc van. But I drive like an old man.
whats up Geoatv.. we all drive like we got sense.. but every now and then the Hooligan comes out lolol remember.. its not how you drive.. but if what you drive puts a smile on your face...
Hey Bro. I'm Walker from Dubai,
Yr speech about engines is AWESOME 🍒
I would love to take yr advice for my 1982 Corvette !!!
Hey Terry ... i'v sent you messages on yr a/c in Instagram. Privately 🍒
Can I put a ls6 turbo charger and a lsx intake on a ly6 motor?
Glad I came across your video. The LY6 wasn't even on my radar.
Can you connect a LY6 to a manual transmission without removing the VVT components?
whats good Bryan, i drove a year with my ly6 and t56 6pd.. it was fine.. but i wanted more low end torque that whay i removed the vvt.. but it worked great..
LY6 it is then. Thanks for the info!
Shalom brother ✊
my pleasure.. keep me posted with your build..
im trying to get a camaro with an ly6 motor swap. its a 4th gen and id never heard of this motor, thanks for the info, i really hope i get this camaro.
my fingers are crossed for you and let me know if you need any thing brotha joe..
Holy heck Terry, good job! Quantum Electro Dynamics is easy but, deciphering GM's lineup is hard. Thanks.
thanks brotha Dax, i may have some quantum dynamic question sometime in the future, im going to call on you bro..
I'm a Ford man but damn buddy knows his shit...he aight with me..
lolol thanks brotha C45 much appreciated
I'm kinda new to building LS engines but i was curious , how would i learn to ID a LY6 block ? Thanks for the video , good info here.
on the front of the engine it will be labeled LY6, on the back you will find casting number that when you look them up will tell you its a ly6.. the quickest way is to look and if its a cast 6.0 with 823 heads its a safe bet that its an LY6. then cam in chevy/gmc trucks and vans..
Does the 408 set up destroy the more boost theory since the cylinder is gonna be bigger ?
well the bore is larger and it will effect the boost for sure.
Was going to put a ls1 engine into my chevy c10 1965 but you have now talked me into a ly6 im 14 and you have really inspired me bro keep up Im also thinking about choping 4 inches off the roof (chop top) also question what kind of tranny should i put in there if im using it for racing auto or 6 speed manual.. thank you so much
Hunter thats great your taking this on at 14.. love hearing about the new generation getting into these old rides.. do your thing young man.. if you need anything hit me up.. im a 6spd t56 guy.. if your racing you might want to go with beefed up 4l80 auto.. let me know which route you take.. ..
What about a 4l60 Thats currently what im bidding on can you tell me what the difference is between the two
4l60 and ls1 with 124k miles on it for 3 grand should I jump on it or what?
Out of a Z28 camaro
k cool
Your channel is awesome bro! I think I've seen a video about body bushings but can't remember that. Keep up the good work!
Ali, much appreciated brotha.. thanks for viewing..
I got L92 6.2 ls3 for 2500 block with heads & intake .
slamming deal... Jose.. you did good brotha..
Yes you do
Love your vids man. Thanks for educating me on these LS motors.
thanks for viewing and the compliment brotha CG... much appreciated..
Will the compression be right please help
the LQ9 compression is 10.08.1 and the LY6 is 9.6.1 .. i say lets do it.. lol
i just got an LM7 and an L76 both for 950. I dunno maybe you had a thought about something cool to build yesterday and might wanna share?
ok sorry as i was writing that i heard the 6.0 love ig @word.izz.bond if you wanna check the build out so far
I have a lq9 is it the same if I put the 823 heads trying very hard to make the same power numbers.
im not 100 percent sure of the pistons, but the numbers will be pretty close.
Terry, can you do a video of fitting a AFR for a lsa build? Cheers
Air Fuel Ratio gauge?
coverman66 yes please.
wow.. believe it or not, i just shot a video on setting up the AEM air/fuel gauge last week lololol
coverman66 thats cool, I follow your vids, im a stick shift ls3 g8 owner in the uk. Im just about to replace the oil pump, trunnion bushes btr stage 2 blower cam and timing chain/guides before i buy torquestorm blower for it. The only thing im not sure with is the afr i need to fit. Everything else because of your vids will be plain sailing. Oh and pin the crank.
thanks brotha.. i will be posting that hooking up a AEM AFR gauge shortly.. no doubt..
I was wondering on the LQ4,LQ9 LY6 what is the max safe bore you can go up to. Is it 4.065-4.070?
you have tons of people going 408..
I was planning on doing a LY6 in my 5.3 truck but found a low milage LS3 for $3000 so i jumped on it!
no question.. jump on that brotha
hey yo Terry. how do you tell what engine you have. i have chevy 6.o (my stock cam went out.) im just finding research for rebuilding my motor.
how are you brotha Loren, heres a video i did showing how you can identify you LS block th-cam.com/video/QbP6CB7q8AQ/w-d-xo.html let me know if you have any other questions
@@Coverman66 i am doing swell. i just bought a cam for my engine. my last cam got me 204,000 miles.
Ive got the L98 6.0L in my commodore SS.
From what ive gathered its a L77 without all the dod bullshit.
Cant wait to drop an LSA in it to be honest :)
you will love it brotha MD.. keep me posted
@@Coverman66 Will do man!
Where are you located? I just picked up a LQ4 and wanted some suggestions from you on what to put in it. Cam/Pistons/ port or polish heads etc. thanks
im on the east coast.. send me a email at terrylsx and we can talk about option brotha D..
Can I make a LS7 from a 6.0 by Boring it out and heads and LS7 intake (and other engine guts)
hmmmm.. i would talk to the machine shop, but i would go over a 408 and thats pretty close to the limit.
Thanks
Love your videos brother. Lots of good info for the new guys and gals on the LS scene.
much appreciated brotha.. thanks
Will definitely upgrade to 3.73 gears and possibly a upgrade the stall converter
that ls swap will make the car run way better.. you wont be sorry brotha D.. im an email away so if you need help hit me up..
Thank you. Just looked up the ly6 and realized it's an iron block. But the L76 isn't. I know they're not common but will start my search this weekend. What LS parts can swap compatible with it. I would like to use a FAST Lsx Intake manifold. I know they're pricey but I think it'll pay off with a big GM cam , 90+mm throttlebody and tune
most LS parts are interchangeable....
as long as the head/intake ports match you should be good..
This is by far my go to video when I was on the hunt for a ls motor for my 83 Malibu wagon. I just purchased a ly6/4l80 combo and can not wait to get started on my build! Thank you for the inspiration and insight for my swap! Please if you could send me some links of your build with this motor so I can have a reference to get started. BTW I mentioned on one of your pics on fb I think that you looked like a young Muhammad Ali lol.
lolol i get the Ali reference all the time.. love it.. thanks for the great comment Jerrad.. i love helping anyone complete their LS install.. you can find all my video on youtube under coverman66.. if you have any question feel free to contact me.. keep me posted with your build brotha.. thanks again..
