Thanks for this, I'm smiling large. Touching to see how they were able to enrich each others lives. This exemplifies my belief in a saying. " In a world where you can be anything... Be kind."

Well we (usually)can't make a full length fictional movie that is watchable but Canadians kill in the real life short doc format. Sweet, and real. Love this. Thank-you.

This made me happy that she met some really great people to begin with and even at the end another bunch of fine people. Truly she is blessed. A-Yi~

She speaks Cantonese with a toisan dialect. Like my grandma and greatgrandma. I picked up some of the tidbits she spoke.
She hopes the new owner will permit her to continue to garden, however if they refuse she will respect their wishes.
I just know they're all very friendly, I have no idea who is who.
April: "They're moving, they wanted to take this opportunity to talk to you"
A Yi "We didn't have chance to speak, When they speak I don't understand"
April "Wednesday 1PM we will be here"
"Her home is toisan, since she was little her life was dedicated to agriculture, not much income. We were all farmers to feed ourselves"
"I came to vancouver, my daughter applied to have me come over, I landed in vancouver, and after 3 days I told my daughter, I want to return home to China, its no fun here,"
"At first, I lived in an apartment, I didn't have good feelings here, in China the city was pretty, here houses aren't really nice here, but that's vancouver, I got used to it, no hard feelings now"
"I was bored so I had to find something to do, I saw other people picking up stuff and reselling, so I figured I'd do the same, since I have no job, I found a bunch of stuff but I can't bring them back to the garage of our apartment"
"I had no place to put my stuff so I came to you guys and asked the pretty men and pretty women, can I put my cart here, they said ok"
*she shows them where she lives
"She says she's never met anyone so nice as these people"
She sees the hockey arena photo and asks "are they all a whole family"
Answers can question "I don't really talk to the others, I just take the cans when there are, if not no big deal I'm not relying on it to feed myself"
After they discuss about taking apart the lattices/frame work
"Please ask the new owner if I can still put my cart with bottles, also you guys please eat I need to go home, my soup is on the stove still cooking, thank you for translating"

Thank you for the translation, I was so wondering what was being said. Such a great slice of life. I had a chuckle when I tried to use CC or closed captions button, this was a great help.

It's hilarious the subtitles are in Chinese. Don't bother with using cc - it translates crap. Ai-Yi is just lonely and she found a place to pass her time. I'm glad the new tenants are allowing her to continue her gardening!

Yes the Chinese subtitles are odd, but they're necessary given the large number of Cantonese dialects that are mutually unintelligible. The first interpreter spoke Hong Kong Cantonese and wasn't able to understand her well enough, so a second interpreter that spoke Toisan was needed.
