Trick i picked up from an old man i worked with in construction.... told me to always chew gum while doing dusty work, dust/dirt sticks to the gum instead of going into your lungs. Now i always carry bubble gum and it does seem to help

Great job this is real farming NOW!!!!!!!! Please wear a mask/ respirator... any big box hardware store sells... Careful the rain does wash away the seed if the water is too much including the top dirt... The straw being put in the soil helps retain both!!! I was told by the old people that if you left the hydraulics always engaged, the lines would eventually give way but that might be old times with weak lines way back when but hope it has changed... talking about the front of the tractor.... GREAT LUCK ON THIS PROJECT SRF!!!!!!!!!!!

Josh, my Uncle Bob McCord, was a farmer near Iowa Falls, IA and ended up with respiratory issues from all the dirt and dust he delt with. I really wish you'd use a respirator.

Annual rye is a much cheaper option for temporary grass that will soon die anyway. Why use fescue? Why 28 to 32 pounds per acre?

Hello from Alamance county! I know I'm late, but thanks for the video. I am brand new to tractor attachments. I have a newly cleared piece of land that is full of roots and rocks that needs tending to. Problem is the tremendous amount of rain we have been getting lately has turned everything into quicksand. How long should I wait before getting a tractor in there and start working? I'm afraid that after a while the weeds will go to seed. Anyway, keep up the good work I love your energy in the videos.

I don't think I'd be in a hurry to sell that land you're not using. Later on you might want to use it for something else. I'd hold on to it for a while longer if I were you. At the rate you're going with thousands watching you're not going to be hurting. You're being really successful on TH-cam. I'm hoping to get there myself one day, someday:-)

This is what I would put down to build soil:
    • 20% White Dutch Clover
    • 20% Alsike Clover
    • 20% Red Clover
    • 15% Alfalfa
    • 15% Field Pea
    • 10% Common Flax
Then cut and mulch to green compost in September and again in late October till under and replant with the cover seed mix leave to mid to late spring and cut and mulch to green compost again, then start over in mid August and again in October follow this for at least 3 years it will feed deer and all foul too, you could even run your goats in the fall first of October then till and replant keep doing this until you have 9 inches or more of good soil.

I missed the part where you talk about where you got the equipment (rent or buy) but that is out of reach for most folks. Even a regular 6 or 7 inch grain drill used for pasture would nto work for turf. That setup is like what you'd see on a golf course isn't it?
