Barry Bonds stolen bases get overlooked way too often. There are only 8 300HR/300SB players, 1 400/400, 1 500/500, 1 600/500, and one 762/514. Barry Bonds has 762 home runs and 514 stolen bases and no other player has even 400/400. That is ALL pre steroids(obviously the bulk of the stolen bases were prior, but he still had 411 or 445 home runs pre-juice depending if you're saying 1998 or 1999 was his last clean season and still over 400 SBs.) People talk like Barry was Juan Pierre slapping the ball around before the juice came into the picture I forgot to say the reason I said all that is because if you needed anything to separate him from Mike Schmidt, that's it. You can also use his 50 points higher OPS or 20 points higher batting average. No disrespect to one of the greatest of all time, but I do not like pre-juice Barry being comparable to Schmidt. I just don't agree
You mean ERA+. The problem with Pedro is he only had those peak seasons in 99-00. Between that other players eclipse what he did and he couldn’t pitch deep into games after his shoulder injury at the end of the 2000 season.
Agreed! They tried to name several deserving players, but clearly overlooked *many*! (Hank Aaron, Stan Musial, Mickey Mantle, Nolan Ryan, Rickey Henderson, etc) ..... but then again it was a stipulation of "still living"

Bonds is the greatest player ever. If you killed Bonds career after the 98' season (as most do), his WAR is greater than Griffey jr. whole career. Pitchers were juicing, and baseball turned a blind eye and tested too late (Bonds never tested positive). Bonds had more walks than anybody, he had 500 sb, Bonds went to college, while most deadball or liveball era guys went pro right out of high school (except Gehrig) therefore he has a later start, he faced HoF relief closers unlike all the eras before the 1970's, missed a some time due to the strike shortened seasons, had to hit leadoff for the first 4 seasons with the Pirates when he should have been down in the order to get more rbi opportunities (they later did). Baseball should have tested sooner like in the early 90's when they saw Dykstra and Phillies team or when they saw Canseco. Bonds left baseball in a quandary.
@@amonrodriguez3518 There are bunch of ways of trying to get advantages (cheat), the whole segregated era of not allowing darker skin people to play the game is "cheating" the game (while nobody was punished). Bonds chose to use the cream and the clear because of other guys who were juicing were being glorified. Let's go through the chronology, because most people like to start at 2001 instead of 1988. So baseball could have done something about the roids with Canseco in 1988, baseball could have done something about roids in 1993 with the Phillies, baseball could have done something about roids in 1996 when Ken Caminiti won the MVP (Bonds had a 40/40) that year, baseball could have done something about roids in 1998 Sosa & McGwire, and again in 1999. They saw the adnro in his locker and didn't care about it. Then Bonds says okay, this is what you guys want, I'll give it to you. So if you're like a 4.0 student in a classroom and other students are not as smart as you, start getting 100's on exams for the first three terms, and start getting all the praise, and the teacher and admin are ignoring the shady stuff that they are doing (while not in the syllabus or student handbook), well when you decide to do it too while already being the best student in the class, you're like, "what's the problem why do care about this now, when these other inferior students were doing this most of the school year."
absolutely not Barry Bonds. Greatest currently active baseball player - probably Shohei Ohtani. Greatest living baseball player - impossible to say. I don’t like saying one person or one team is the greatest of all time. I prefer saying one of the greatest of all time. Griffey Jr. was the best all time he just didn't use roids to get and stay healthy like Bonds who is the second greatest all time because he already was on his way to being the greatest of all time but because a roided up white man in McGuire and I don't even know what Sosa is took steroids and got the spotlight because of it Bonds said the hell with this I'm juicing as well.
