Superb series of articles - Thank you very much for posting them!! I successfully made a cable for my 2018 Ural, however Ural did change the diagnostic port on the 2018 (I think the 2017 as well), it is now a 4 pin TE Connectivity part # 1-967325. For anyone needing to make the cable for this connector, looking at the 4 pin plug from the front the pins are CAN High (Top left), CAN Low (Bottom left), Ground (Top right), +12V (Bottom right) - Thanks again. Does anyone know wether this still works on GEN II EFI models? I tried to connect an OBDLink LX to my 2021 Ural Ranger, but I cant get the connection to work on the OBDLink. They changed the pinout of the diagnostics port to only use 3 Pins, I suspect they are using the K-Line Protocol nowadays. I have a cheap generic OBD II reader which when connected is able to connect to the bike. So my question is does anyone know of the OBDLink devices are compatible with the new bikes? Am I just doing something wrong? I´d be very grateful if anyone could help getting the OBDLink to work.
Excellent Video, you've made a challenging task look pretty straightforward - Many thanks Can I ask a question? Assuming I get all of this working, what is there on the EFI that I can adjust, equivalent to pilot screws on a Carb, I don't see anything like that and if I have to change the settings of the system can the OBDWiz software do that for me? Again many thanks in advance.
Excellent video. Unlike you I am not that technically capable. Would you be willing to manufacture one of these cables for me for a fee? Have a 2014 Ural Gear Up.
Truthfully the OBDWiz software is mostly a read only program. You can monitor your EFI, but you cannot adjust the fuel mapping or parameters. If you have to adjust the throttle bodies it is still done via idle screws and throttle cables, and adjustments are monitored by OBDWiz. The only thing that can be done with OBDWiz is clear trouble codes. I have not tried this yet due to my my bike being under warranty.
@@stupollock6851 I would clear the trouble code if it was no longer active. I'm not sure it would void warranty. But, didn't want dealer to see I have been playing with ECU's. Ural and my dealer are extremely good about warranty items, and just wanted to keep it that way.
Taylor Martin interesting. I would think they would encourage its use as keeping cylinders in balance would seem to promote longevity. Anyway I’m about to receive my first Ural. Apparently in some port in Europe. I’m in Northern Ontario. My dealer a nice guy but he sells very few. Zero last year and two this year - his father and me both got one. If you have any advice or tips would be grateful.
@@stupollock6851 Check out the web site Soviet Steeds, there is a forum on there with endless amounts of information. And owners with large amounts of experience, that are willing to share information. Stick to recommend maintenance from manufacturer, and keep records for warranty. If your buying brand new Ural? I believe they changes throttle bodies, and they now have vacuum port for balancing.

More love from Sweden :-D
They are standard OBD II protocol. Found anywhere on internet. Wikipedia has a good page on PID's

Why would you want to clear trouble codes and how would this affect warranty?

Yes. Thanks. I have gone through a lot of their vids and have joined. I’m thinking of making this OBD monitory system
