    What a way to honor and praise the Ancestors who are an unconquered force. We must embrace our Seminole roots. Let us not forget their great sacrifice against Tyranny.

    Clemson fan here. Great win at the last game Noles! It's pretty obvious that Clemson and FSU are the top schools in the ACC when it comes to football, so it's always a great game to watch no matter who wins. You guys really pulled through in the 4th quarter and deserve the win.
    I really feel like Clemson and FSU fans have a lot of respect for each other, which I like a lot. I know I do. I just wish both schools could break out of the ACC, which is falling apart.. thanks John Swofford.

    What a tradition! I live just a few miles from Renegade, but never see him outside the stable. This is a wonderful tradition to have begun a year or two after Bobby Bowden arrived in Tallahassee - who would have thought it would get this big? He and Ann are the reason many of the changes were made there - she helped get some garnet and gold clothing available for purchasing. What a pain it used to be to try and find school colors!

    That gives me chills every time I see it!! That is beyond badass. To see thousands of people from all different backgrounds darn near worshiping the image of one of the greatest warriors in history is amazing! For those of you who only see this as racist...I tell you what...my family is originally from M. Africa. If you want to take away the Redskins and the FSU Seminoles and replace their image with the flag/image of my ancestor and have millions of people worship and follow it in this way...I will be more than happy to trade. Get some level of consistency people. When a Nazi raises their arm and salute you say they are worshiping or believe in white power. So what does it mean with these people are raising their hands and player are taking off and holding their helmets up to the image of a native American warrior? Long live the Seminole!!!!!!

    • @eatmmyshorts
      @eatmmyshorts 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      cnw8891 No it does not honor a tribe. It objectifies them. It mocks tradition with pseudo rituals claimed as authentic. It dehumanizes them as an object of entertainment. The use of red face paint is equivalent to the use of black face. The university of Illinois claimed to be "honoring" Native Americans with their Chief Illini yet Native American activists disagreed and fought to have the mascot removed.If the people who are the subject of objectification feel disrespected and dehumanized as a result of anything than it is in itself wrong.
      I am pretty sure I know what I am talking about and no Washington Post article is going to make me think differently. I have read numerous article from Native American opposition, taken a specific sociology class on Sociology and Sports, which covered the controversy of the Native American Mascot.
      My school offers some resources on the subject, I don't know if you care enough to prove yourself wrong or even watch a video but here it is. (don't know if you can see it)

      eatmmyshorts The Seminole people DESIGNED the outfits and everything.

    • @eatmmyshorts
      @eatmmyshorts 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Does that mean that the militarizing of the mascot is not insulting? Does that take out the racist undertones of the whole performance? You are taking a whole culture and making a profit off of it. The famous tomahawk chant is terrible, and historically inaccurate, they do fictitious war chants.
      Doing a Tomahawk motion and yelling "Scalp 'em" is not in good taste, honoring a culture, or even funny. It is blatantly racist.
      Just because some Seminole's are okay with FSU and its mascot does not mean all Native Americans are fine with it or even all people of the Seminole Tribe. Plus there is a direct connection between the Seminole tribe, one of the more successful Native American tribes in the US in terms of casinos and their gambling, and how being tied to FSU helps them economically. This "relationship" can be seen as partly, if not majorly, an economic decision with the Seminoles in a way selling their image for profit.
      Would say the, this is not real, University of LaLaLand Diaras, a pre-colonization African tribe, and have a person in blackface running around doing bull crap rituals with bone weapons not be racist? Even if they had permission from the Diaras?
      I strongly insist you watch the video from my last post.
