I had a CD of all big 8s cadences and learned them all when I was like 15... coming back and hearing this after a decade is surreal.. I still remember every note.
Sequence is generations of Florida band lore at this point 😂 Even if you didn’t march big 8 but you were in band in the state, you probably know this cadence by heart.
Hi! I'm currently in post production on a short film and I'd love to use your video for soundtrack purposes. I'm more than happy to pay royalties/credit you all. Is there a way to contact you so we could talk a little more?
+BrotherofLink3 what kind of heads are they using? I don't remember weather having a big effect on tuning (but it's been quite a while since I marches) . Actually sounds kind of cool, and this line clearly has some groove chops. Nice.
All bands use stands at some point, holding the drum for hours on end with no break would end up leading to some kind of back problems, so every band uses stands, just not in this video.
My band director thinks exactly like you. He’s never told us directly why he never had any drum stands but his personality is sort of “suck it up you’re old enough and it’s just a waste of money”
The fact that someone notices that drums aren't tuned properly doesn't mean that they are bad at playing drums. In fact it's probably an indicator that they know what they're talking about. And you belittling them shows that you're just an FSU fanboy who will defend FSU regardless of whether or not you're wrong
Wow, they are carrying their drums. Apparently no-one seemed to see the straps that are securing and stabilizing their harnesses, which most bands/ Drum lines DON'T USE. Also, using a stand isn't sissy. It' not good to always carry your drum; even the best bands of the best use stands during practice. Also, for one they are outside and it seems to be a practice for a game. If they were inside I guarantee they probably use stands. Newsflash every-one whose ever been on a drum line has used a stand.
Fsu never had cowbell untill the Battle between BCU AND THEY SHOWED THEM HOW THey they use them..I was there and they were were stuck after aging get twisted.... its funny to see this now....
Those tenors sound like upside down trash cans. Someone get a wrench! Other than that, sounds good as always. Wish the Big 8 sequence would change every year.
Whatever! The only thing they have going for them is size and budgets. Those types of routines did not originate from the corps style bands of the big universities, but originated from the smaller HBCUS as portrayed in the movie drumline which gave the big * their motivation. LOL They got it from watching them rattlers of FAMU!
1. The movie Drumline is a joke. 2. FAMU can't touch the Big 8. FSU has one of the cleanest lines in the country and they can still get the crowd going.
I went back and looked at some of their drumlins vids and yes it shows them battling Bethune Cookman and I am sure they have battled FAMU's line also. With that being said I know factually that HBCUs fathered the style of drumming that they are using in this video because I grew watching it and know from watching college football how most bands from PWCs put on their shows. It was nothing like this! LOL
othellosson Most of Big 8's cadences (including this one) are Latin-inspired, not HBCU. Although I love the HBCU style, we don't shoot for stylish and heavy beats, but more of a latin-y and groovy feel to show off each sections qualities. Most of Sequence, this piece, is originally written and passed down from generations of Big 8. You could tell the difference in styles if you watch the battle between us and BCU. ;)
A lot of african american culture stealing from dancing singing dressing swag urban conversation and now hbcu marching band showmanship. . Sicking JUST STOP and get your own style. Damn
Vincent Mcshan First, every rhythm is borrowed from somewhere or inspired by something. Take it easy. BTW, I guess it’s alright when rap artists “steal” Italian-American and mafia names and terminology, right? That’s okay, right? Love, your Italian American friend
I’m in this! I am the one with the drum in the red shirt.
Oh nice I see you
sweet, yeah, there you are
Feels good to be recognized 😀
Omg same here
AsianChicken 850 hell ya! Rep that 850 too I see 😎

The faces change, the years go by, but this precision of this group is second to none... GO BIG8
i could def name a few they are second to haha
LaCroy Auburn’s drumline is way better! Maybe because they send all their lines members to DCI???
@@lacroy9861 You know, we 'Noles hear that a lot...until it's time to "cut heads".
@@stanjustus4303 wtf does that mean lol
SO GOOD !!!!!! 😂 And THANK YOU cameraman for staying on the tenor side and in one place!!!!
one of best college lines I've seen. Great work.
the amount of times I've watched this is ridiculous
same
yeah them boys can really play
I don't know if there's a girl in the Drumline but she needs to be commended cuz they do a good job
Class of 07! MCATDT! “Smoke Gouda!” “Still going!” “Horns hands tilt up!” Such great memories! Miss this!
5 years later at 10 pm and I'm watching this. FSU unconquered
These guys are always jamming!!!! LOL They sound even when listening to this through speakers with bass!!
My Father and Mother, God rest their Soul, LOVED to watch them. They are Awesome 👍😎
Bruh that beat was hard asf 8:24 godd I love FSU
Yeah I wish someone made a video of that for like 1 hour
1:33 THAT BASS RUN!
ikr
If only sheet music was available ):
the tenors are tuned horribly!!! DAMN
Casey Leemon I was literally thinking the same thing. I love the intensity just not the sound.
fsu was going for a lower sound, rather than a higher sound
waaaah
yeah......you wont be there
How have I just now noticed this, I’ve watched it so many times
Good playing! someone for the love of God, please please tune those tenor drums!
They sound kinda like mine....... And mine are extremely out of tune.
Yeah too many tenors to be tuned low lol
try to get in the big 8...…….yeah...tenor...
Lmao imagine trying to tell a college drum line how to tune their drums. They know more than you🤗
That book has some meat to it and they are executed it really well. This was excellent
Such a fun cadence. Enjoyed watching this
Well executed FSU FOR African, and Latin rhythm.
Got mad respect for these cats. Decent exhibition. Good overall sound.
Brings me joy! Roll 'noles!
Damn this is dope
Loving it, woot woot !!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wow the tenors are awfully low in pitch but yet extremely resonant. A little too low to get score clarity, but the separation of voices is quite good.
Jim. are you hearing voices?
They are quite deliberately tuned low.
FSU AND CLEMSON ARE AWESOME FOOTBALL TEAMS
Hi! I'm currently in post production on a short film and I'd love to use your video for soundtrack purposes. I'm more than happy to pay royalties/credit you all. Is there a way to contact you so we could talk a little more?
Cool beats!! Your guys' quad tuning is super low, are you pulling more resonance out of em that way?
Titu Colceri Nope it was rainy that day and the moisture was tuning the heads down
+BrotherofLink3 what kind of heads are they using? I don't remember weather having a big effect on tuning (but it's been quite a while since I marches) . Actually sounds kind of cool, and this line clearly has some groove chops. Nice.
These pretzels are making me thirsty
Wow...a drumline who actually carries the drums. Thank you for not using those sissy stands.
George Pittman "Thanks for giving yourselves scoliosis"
Steve Buscemi exactly lmao
Steve Buscemi It can be prevented if you have good posture

Best marching band. Ever.
I play this every year before the first game
I know it a little late but what sticks r the tenor players using?
Go Noles!!! baddest drum corps in college!
Was it just me or did the tenors sound way out of tune! I tune mine before every practice which is a little obsessive but I always have mine tuned
once again....wahhh. tenor.....got a feeling you will not make the cut....only because most people don't

Did you play?
High School?
@@briteal1 drum corps baby!
Like robots really amazing talent
Dope
love this cadence
I'm sure the FSU Drumline and fans weren't happy with the outcome of the game. Go Tigers!
Big 8 sequence from 2000 was far, far better.
I second this. They were pretty much a DCI level drumline in the late 90s to early 2000s
Wow, they rock.
Now if they just could have marched underneath Pensacola...Perfect
🤩🤩🤩🤩in love

Oos Oos
For fucks sake tenors... invest in a god damn tuning key
Needs more cowbell
Those tenors sound like upside down trash cans. Someone get a wrench! Other than that, sounds good as always. Wish the Big 8 sequence would change every year.
Try out.
Why do people feel it's ok to put snares on harnesses 😑
Chaosking 1025 ? Because it is…
because that way we're still holding the drums, and we'd like to carry the drums with comfort rather than on slings bc those are uncomfortable as heck
Chaosking 1025 Why do people feel that slings are the only acceptable way to hold snares? It's better on their backs in the long run with harnesses.
slings look so unprofessional

That’s a long ass cadence...
The Sequence
USC would crush these guys!!!!!
they learning from FAMU!
