  • Hampton Downs 15 March 2020 onboard a Ducati 996. I am riding on the track for the second time. This is the Slow-Medium Group, and I am riding very conservatively as I am still getting a feel for track riding. The variety of skill levels as you can see is quite vast in this group. Excellent fun, I recommend track riding to any motorcyclist, at least do it once.

Nice ride. I may have a solution how to fix your fuel reserve light

Thanks. I do run it on reserve fuel usually. So I believe it is coming on and off as the bike leans over etc. Is that what you mean?

    Hi JF,
the 996 is the best sounding bike ever and it rides really well on the track. (Owning one of these I know about this.)
    BUT - Looking at you - th-cam.com/video/qZ4WGxXK5ho/w-d-xo.html :
Owning a Supermoto and a 996 I have to say: You should do some practice!
A Super Moto has about half the power you have in your 996 and your chassis is much better prepared for a race track. => This bike shouldn't have been an opponent to you on this track... ;->
BUT: Always stay on top of your bike and have a lot of fun (as I have)...

Thanks for your comment. I totally agree I need a lot more practice and intend to go to every track day I can, I'm not setting the world on fire! but this was my first track day ever and I was being very conservative as I'm just getting a feel for track riding. There are some pretty loose cannons on the track from what I've seen and I really don't want to get tangled up with one and trash the 996. Hence I've bought a 959 Panigale that I intend to take to the track next which I hope will be less precious about. Cheers!

@@hotspringbop The most important thing is that you have a lot of fun! ;-)
      P.S.: Edit
The 2nd most important thing is that you stay on top of the bike and don't crash...

Track days are great fun, such a great way to get a feel for a bike made for a track. All the best!
