How to Install FASTBOOT and ADB on your MAC

- In this video, saki will show you how to download and install fastboot and adb on your MAC. We will be using a MacBook Pro for this demonstration but this method will work on any MAC Computer and this method will also ensure you get the latest version of fastboot and adb.

Tks a lot dear, i had PC and MAC, i use PC for fastboot all this days, since i was think MAC would be so complicated, But after ur video it was so simple and now im using MAC for flashing.

It seems the SDK Manager no long works with just Tools. Command line says this function no longer works and to use the full Android Studio for this feature. If you get the chance, an updated tutorial of these features using Android Studio would be greatly appreciated!

Great video. I just switched over from iPhone to Android AGAIN a few weeks ago and I'm trying to make it for good this time. I have the Pixel 3a and wanted Android Q so I needed this to sideload the OTA.
And it worked? For me the pop up isn't loading. What wrong am I doing?

Yow Saki from Sakitech, please please make a tutorial how to enter commands on the mac. I've spend the whole day trying to activate bxactions over my mac but I've no idea how to type these commands. Bxactions is a solid program but you need to make a tutorial about how to use it properly, coz it's a bit complicated. These type of guides will be appreciated.

Hey whats up, i just installed everything except my phone is stuck in the startup screen so i can't select anything anymore. But i want to pull files from it. How do i do this now if the phone can't get past this screen?
i have Installed ADB and fastboot driver on Mac OS with Nexus Tool. is there any difference?
thank you sir, it worked even in 2024, still there are some miner differences(there is no gui, we have to move this directory to ~Library/Android/sdk)
i used at first the XDA downloads and didnt get this to work because there are not saying that we need to use the " ./ " to run comands.
And the new files from our website are not working for me because its open the terminal window and say like "proceed finished" and nothing happen.... but with XDA platform-tools it is working very nice.

you only need to download the mac specific files from here www.xda-developers.com/install-adb-windows-macos-linux/
open Terminal and type
"cd /*put platform tools folder in the terminal*" and Enter
To check if the mac are connectet to the Phone you type:
"./fastboot devices"
It should give you a random number and fastboot
To boot the Twrp you need to type:
"./fastboot boot *put in the twrp boot image*" and Enter
your phone is rebooting to twrp

Right now in the middle of 2020 I am doing this. the Tools folder does not have that android in the form of the terminal logo. And when I open another file called apkanalyzer it asks me to download Java SE Development Kit 15.0.1 can you help me? Thank you!

download platform-tools from here developer.android.com/studio/releases/platform-tools and follow tutorial as is from the "Terminal section" (that's from 3:50)

Do you have Java installed on your mac? I had the same problem and when i tried opening the android application it popped up saying i have no java so i downloaded it and it worked

Hey Saki, I think the problem for some is they do not have Java runtime installed and maybe that's why they can't get past terminal. It's easy to assume everyone uses Java.

There is no "Android" application in Platform-Tools
You need to get JDK first(www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/index.html)
Then download SDK tool package from Google,
Next, open tools/bin/sdkmanager from the downloaded folder
Done
Here is the ADB Platform Tools for MacOS that has made for you.

This doesnt work anymore because Java dropped a couple classes support after version 9 or 10, something like that, so you actually need to downgrade Java8 to run sdkmanager. Mine runs after this "downgrade" but doesnt do anything either... all I got was this and that was it.....

You skipped the steps to install JAVA and JAVA JDK

May 2018 There's a link on this page android.gadgethacks.com/how-to/android-basics-install-adb-fastboot-mac-linux-windows-0164225/ that has the tools containing the Android SDK Manager which doesn't seem to be included within the link our friend suggests above. Without it you can't make use of any of this info.

the linux terminals do not contain adb or fastboot anymore. It's all outdated. Useless
