Kathryn, I can’t imagine how much you have given to your students over the years: live and online. These live classes are a breath of fresh air after not seeing you for a while. You’re just so good! I don’t know if I’ll ever have the balance that you’ve got. I just have to keep figuring out my own body. That’s why I love smaller classes as opposed to huge ones because, there’s far more personal attention. But these classes that we can practice at home alongside you are priceless. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Kathryn, it's hard to put into words how much I enjoy watching your classes, all of them, from beginners on up. Although I can no longer dance, ballet is and always has been my one true passion (well, besides animals), something I was immersed in and loved every second. I was a late starter, as my parents refused to let me take ballet as a child; I started at 19, with my daughter in tow, and she grew up in the ballet studio, officially starting classes at 3 (and continued through college and beyond). I'm bed-bound right now, following the most recent of a long line of catastrophic illnesses, from a brain tumor to septic shock, and now Guillain-Barre Syndrome; the last 1-1/2 years have been spent in bed, in indescribable pain (that morphine around-the-clock makes bearable). My feet are totally numb, so even standing up is a big, scary, disorienting endeavor, but I've forced myself, with the help of my amazing physical therapist, to 'walk' around my house (with my Rollator, a walker that has a seat for quick sitting), and can now use the bathroom like any other adult! Anyway, your videos, with your clear love of, and dedication to, ballet let me live vicariously through you, imagining I'm in the studio again, with beautiful toned 'ballet muscles' again, in great shape again... I get to relive how amazing it was when I got my first pointe shoes, the realization of a dream I had never given up on, but wondered if it would ever actually happen. I also fill my time creating dance-related designs, mostly all ballet-related, that I sell on assorted merchandise; anyone who's interested, please visit my dance shop: www.cafepress.com/shop/Dance_Dance_Dance Thanks again, Kathryn, for all you do for the ballet world. You're such a beautiful dancer and I think having you as a teacher would be awesome.
havent done this yet but watching it. not only are these my favorite combos so far... but this PLAYLIST is something else! all my favorite broadway songs are in this playlist! much love
Hi Katie thanks. I teach every day and sometimes i get stock with my own set of combinations so it's always great to have some different levels classes to just get a different point of view
Nice! I like the advanced class, and feel like I could keep up at the barre. However, don’t consider myself an advanced dancer…that intimidates me. So I might keep in the comfort zone of intermediate.🤔 I find that in adult advanced classes the corrections stop because it seems like everyone should know by now. BUT as adults, I think we could still use corrections and analogies etc.
I agree. As adult dancers, we still need a lot of corrections! A lot of direction before, during, and after each movement. I, too, could keep up with the barre! I feel very proud of my barre skills. Center, on the other hand… I just don’t seem to be able to find the balance. Perhaps it’s strength? Perhaps it’s because I’m older? I was never great at balance. I noticed in this video video that you transitioned from one step to the next without losing your balance. I would love to know more about how to make that happen. I struggle and struggle with wobbling feet. (my feet and ankles are super strong at the barre. It’s a mystery.) I wonder if you could do a class just on how to balance in each movement? Releve in 5th. Moving from one position/direction to the next. Promenade. Arabesque transitioning to each arm placement. Slow transitions from one ballet step to the next. Questions that I would have would be where do I put my weight? When to counterbalance with shoulders, hips, arms? How does placement of foot help for balance in each step? Thanks for all the help over the years!!! ❤
@@K_ballet Im still a teen doing advanced classes but my biggest pet peeve is teachers not giving corrections because we should «already know ». That’s literally why I’m taking your class, to get corrections. 😐
I absolutely loved it! If I want to attend the adult retreat intermediate, do you suggest nearby places for accommodation I would be flying in from Key West, Florida. Thank you, love you so much, you are my inspiration always! Is there an age limit for the adult intensive intermediate?
Yay! Please email us at sayhi@kmandfriends.com. My team is working on all of this! In the past, we had a group rate at a nearby hotel. I don’t think it’s finalized yet, but it’s in progress! ❤️
