  • This was a service call on a Hoshizaki ice machine that had low production, the machine ended up having a bad txv, I also warned the customer about the compressor going bad but they declined the compressor replacement at this time.

    I'm not even an HVAC Tech, I'm an Auto diagnostics and repair tech, and I find your videos quite informative. Very easy to follow. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with the world like you do. It's not a common occurrence that you get to look over the shoulder of a tradesman such as yourself, but I'll take the opportunity any time I can. Keep up the good work.

    Great video. I’m new to ice machines and I was working on the same machine yesterday. The control board wasn’t sending voltage to the condenser fan on mine. Love your content man

    Good video on the hoshi on 3.51 on the paper you had 15 notes on freeze cycle readings 30 minutes each you were there for like 4.5 hrs i assume T S ing , them ice machines are no fun specially when it's been neglected for years n the client are cheap n unappreciative Thanks for sharing 👈👍👍

    I’m working on a unit just like this with bad txv. The is solenoid valve in line with the liquid line drier. You can un plug the coil during freeze cycle to pump the refrigerant down to the condenser and check for bleed back on your suction valve. Mine pumped down fine but bled back to 30psig quickly so I’m replacing both txv and compressor Monday.

    Love the details, not a HVAC tech always amazed at the details in the trade. Have a Hoshi AM-50BAE that's making half a evaporator plate of ice, between the service manuals that hoshi provides and your detailed vids, helps me describe to the tech what I'm seeing so they can do their thing.

    I almost always replace the HGV with a txv replacement for the simple fact of gas is already out. It’s 2 more joints. And it gets cycled so frequently no point in having a customer a month later have a leaking past HGV. Just me but makes me feel better in the end.

    Good video. Quick question. My Hoshisaki Ice machine, Sometimes when it goes on the freeze cycle the evaporator does not freeze. No power at the HGV. How do I know is a bad HGV or the solenoid at the remote condensor on the liquid line. Then all of the sudden it makes like 8 batches of ice. Thanks

    Question, got a km 1200 that has gone through 2 new water pumps in 2 years. water in,out does not seem to be a problem amps is full, example rla 2 and draws say 2.1 or 2.2. Water does drip on mtr from above. Hard water, filter changed every 6,9 mo. Would you have an idea on what might be killing mtrs in 12 mo's? Thanks, there not cheap suckers.lol

    • @HVACRVIDEOS
      @HVACRVIDEOS  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      well water dripping on the pumps is not good, how are the pumps failing? are they motors burning up and tripping the breaker? or are they just locking up and not running anymore? When you replace the pump are you changing the capacitor too?

    • @dadscavaliers642
      @dadscavaliers642 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yea it gets the new cap. The impeller is to stiff and wont turn, on it's own.couldn't figure if the max rla was causing a slow death tech support could not give me an answer that. Did fix the water leak,the fitting on water trough above the w.p.plastic connection had a hair line crack.it jusy bugs me that the mtr runs hot to the touch. Thanks for the intrest.

    I have a KM 515 water cooled was working fine for 3 months then I got the one beep - we added refrigerant at it makes ice but not much as it used to fill the bin overnight now barely a few cube stay in the bin. I had the red and yellow light (3 freeze cycle errors in 36 hrs) the machine. it is also putting out an excessive amount of water through the drain. We live in Belize so don't have any Hoshizaki specialist mostly AC guys trying to figure this out. What components should they be looking at troubleshooting

    Thanks. Would you mind if you get a chance explaining little more about how you came to the conclusion that the txv was the problem. Was it the flood back? Or what else?

    • @HVACRVIDEOS
      @HVACRVIDEOS  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The flood back was a dead giveaway, the pump was operating , and the hot gas valves weren't leaking by. After checking the sensing bulbs it confirmed it.

    When u change out txvs on a machine like that due u stick with same cubic in drier or due u up size the drier

    • @HVACRVIDEOS
      @HVACRVIDEOS  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I try to stay with the factory drier due to the limited refrigerant charge on some ice machines. But in a pinch I have added an aftermarket drier.

    How to overcharge your customer when you misdiagnose an refrigerant level charge. You know you have to add freon in the winter right. Take it out in the summer.

    • @HVACRVIDEOS
      @HVACRVIDEOS  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      What?? Are you being sarcastic?

    • @heavydiesel
      @heavydiesel 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      So adding refrigerant would reduce flood back, lower the suction and head pressure???? Yeah right.....

    • @SteveF0rbes
      @SteveF0rbes 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      heavydiesel since he said it was 100 degrees, I assume it’s summer. So the floodback is overcharged system. He has his head too

    • @HVACRVIDEOS
      @HVACRVIDEOS  5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      It was not overcharged because I recovered the charge to change the txv's, the charge was correct. I'm more concerned with the fact that you said you have to add gas in the Winter in remove it in the summer were you being sarcastic because that is absolutely 100% incorrect
