      And I kind of like the Z3 over the later models for it's relative cleanness but not over a 986; mid-engine, classic Porsche flat 6 note and all

    i've had this muffler in my Boxster S for years (stock cats) and man, the drone is almost unbearable. Sounds good when not in the drone frequency range. When I ordered it, they did tell me they won't take returns if not able to stand the drone. Funny that they warned me about this.

    • @original2758
      @original2758 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Guess I got lucky... I purchased mine and returned it for the "Maxflo" instead. It's a much smoother and cleaner sound across the rpm range imo.
      Of course, this transaction was about 2 years ago, and they did take a good percentage off of my return for some "wear" on the system etc...

    Here's another 986 Boxster S with a Fabspeed Exhaust, intake and chip tune th-cam.com/video/XoRo_CEkVIM/w-d-xo.html, mentioned at the beginning. The owner bought it from someone with this set up already installed. It's the best sounding Boxster I've ever heard. Fabspeed, you commented on that video. Would you know exactly what Fabspeed set up that car is running? I'm really only after the sound.

    What kind of headers was this system paired with? Was this with sport cats or just test pipes? Also, I noticed some muffled backfire that sounded very nice, is that the result of a tune, or just the stock map? I have a 99' NA 986 with Manzo headers, circuit werks test pipes, and a cicuit werks v2 muffler; it sounds like a longhood racecar, but it's super loud, and now I'm trying to decide between Fabspeed and Cargraphic.

      HI Ameer, this car had factory headers and cats. If you're looking to quiet down your current setup I would recommend our Maxflo exhaust.

  • @original2758
    @original2758 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I currently have the "Max flo" exhaust on my 986 S model. That's after having the "Super Cup" exhaust...
    I returned it after a short while (with a percentage off btw for wear I guess). In my experience, the Super cup exhaust just didn't sound that great...
    It was loud, that's not the problem, it just didn't sound pleasant; it had kind of a rough, drony tone, especially at lower rpms imo.
    That said, when I switched to the Max flo exhaust the sound was louder than stock and more pleasant to the ear, across the entire rpm range; just compliments the flat 6 all around.
    Now I'm super curious/interested in the Fabspeed "Spec racing" exhaust... I have seen very little on this product. I'd like to know how it sounds in comparison to the Max flo, and the Super cup...
    I can always appreciate a "louder" exhaust note when it comes to my 3.2 liter flat 6, but what about the "quality" of that extra noise? How does it compare to the Super cup and the Max flo?
    Any additional info on this mysterious product would be much appreciated as I contemplate pulling the trigger on buying it, thanks!

      We are glad to hear you are enjoying your new Maxflo mufflers, drone is subjective unfortunately, and that is why it is paramount to us to develop solutions for all different levels.
      Regarding your questions about our Spec. Boxster system, it was developed way back in the early 2000's for IMSA / PCA club racers. We were the exclusive exhaust manufacturer for a lot of these series, and our team sat down to produce a system that allowed peak performance, while still maintaining sound ordinances, the Spec. system was born.
      Nowadays, it has graduated to be a street/track system loved by drivers across the globe. We will see if we can dig up some media from our archives and share it on our social media channels for you, stay tuned!

      @@original2758 Great question, I personally would look into doing our competition air intake, or 986 Numeric Short Shifter. Depends what you're looking for, but both will truly enhance your driving experience.
      The Intake sees gains of 22+ WHP and creates some fantastic induction noise. The Short Shifter kit will greatly improve the overall feel, and accuracy of your shifts!

I've eliminated all the extra baffles around the air vents for optimal airflow etc.
