  • As you requested.. here is a trip down to Baker Street London! Here I'll show you the home of Sherlock Holmes at 221b Baker Street. I then take you on a personal tour of the local area, places famous people lived, pubs I love, places to eat, and my favourite buildings and spots to visit. SO many amazing roads that inspired JK Rowling for Harry Potter. Pub anyone?

Oh - a bit of trivia Hannah! When you were in Manchester Square near the Wallace Collection, you panned around past what you said was an "office building". That rather boring building was EMI records head office for many years and frequented by many famous pop stars including The Beatles. The front cover photo of their "Please Please Me" album was taken in stairwell in that very same building!

@@HannahRicketts An expansion on the trivia above re: the Bealtes and Manchester Square: The EMI HQ was @ 20 Manchester Square between 1960 and 1999. In recent times it was demolished and replaced with another modern (i.e., horrific for the setting) edifice. However, part of the stairwell associated with the Beatles was apparently retained and incorporated into the current EMI HQ @ 4 Pancras Square. In addition to the mention of the Beatles being pictured at #20 on their debut album, images from there appear on the covers of their 'Red' and 'Blue' albums, greatest hits sets covering the span of their 1962-66 (Red) and 1967-70 (Blue) career.
Nice to see La Fromagerie and the Ginger Pig get some screen time. St. Christopher's Place is also nice for eats 'n' treats. And though so close to Oxford Street and Selfridge's, thankfully the tourists are unaware.

Thank you ever so much for doing this walk around Marylebone, I so appreciated it. I just love that area so much and walking around it and sometimes ending up at the Wallace Museum for a tea and pastry and rest and make my way down to St. Christoper Street Square and Oxford street. So homesick for London from Canada. Can’t wait until restrictions are over for us. Thank you for your tours and I so enjoy just your grocery shopping days too and time at home.

Thank you for taking me/us on a walking tour around the Baker street/Marylebone area... looks very nice with plenty of places to eat and drink well. I love beautiful brick buildings (they are tearing all those down here in Canada and replacing them with steel/glass monstrosities in the god-awful "modern" style)... enjoy admiring them while you can. Its nice to see what kind of everyday shops London has to offer, other than the big touristy spots. 'Til next time!

Baker Street, famously sung about by Gerry Rafferty, one time band member with Billy Connolly. Really enjoying your informative jaunt, so much so that in better times I will jump back on the train and revisit for leisure. As for city living? Nooo. Will stick to leafy Surrey. Keep up the good work. Madam Tussaud's is a must. Well sculpted figures, and randomly placed. Good fun.

(That was years ago, so it may have changed since then, but in my day upstairs was lock a boarding house from the Holmes era. Wonderful!) Dining in London is not cheap. Neither are the houses!

The Wallace Collection was such a highlight with the Manola Blahnik exhibition ( she's 13 and a fashionista) , it was perfect. So many cute places to eat and shop. Daunt books was a highlight, a divine slice of history. The Ivy there was one of the best meals I've had. Can't wait to visit again. Stay safe!

Great vlog again Hannah! Always takes me back to when I lived in London. The red brick buildings - mansion blocks - are much newer than the Georgian houses being late Victorian or Edwardian. My uncle lived in a fabulous flat in an Edwardian mansion block in Kensington near Cromwell Road. I visited frequently as a child and it was very posh indeed! Keep up the good work!

Thank you for another great walking tour. I love how you show the menus and give us a look through the windows. You asked about whether we would like living in this area versus a quieter part of London. This area wouldn't appeal to me to live in although it was fun to walk around it with you. Every place has its benefits and compromises, I can't imagine living in a big city again but I would love to visit. How do you think you would like to live on a small island - no traffic lights, power cuts when the weather is bad, hardly any places to eat or shop, lots of beautiful scenery - so some good and some not so good things.

I was just thinking, if all of your followers were to somehow visit London at the very same time ~ those many quiet London streets would suddenly become very busy indeed! Lol. :) There's no question, those sirens are synonymous with Central London.. As soon as you arrive, & step out of King's X or Euston train stations, it's the very first thing you hear. Thanks for another Great video! ~ Very informative as well! :)

Thanks Hannah! Like all the great pubs in Marylebone High St. Ginger Pig still there! WoW - by Marylebone/Paddington St. Park. & this was some time ago. Trivia - Always remember the little ' robin ' that used to eat with me @ the arm of the park bench when lunch there - lovely! As you remember from other comments - lived in York St. up by Montague Square for years over the millennium - In London 20 yrs. Never saw John Lennon - bit late for me I think! I saw the 2000 eclipse from Chiltern St. while at work for time then after study in Psychology.
Just loved it in ' central ' London & drinks at the Sherlock Holmes - Hotel as was then. Met French Chrystelle there, who taught English/French on Paddington St. Yes London was a very romantic time in widest sense.& I just had a wonderful time - never felt rich enough to marry - even the Church girls. You know - ' tomorrow is another day ' Please do make up to date videos of central London - I must film the old places now I have my channel. Madame Tussauds is just fantastic - expensive but everything is in London. I am after another leather jacket from Camden. Bless Badger.

Another lovely walk - thank you. Glad to hear you can book times now for Madam Tussauds. Went about 15 years ago. London one is good, others in other parts of the world are not. For our visit, I had found a tip that you could buy a combo ticket for the Planetarium (the dome building next door) and Tussauds. Go to the Planetarium show first then when it finished they opened doors and you went straight inside Tussauds - no standing in line.

Hannah I wish it was that quiet normally - usually like a busy day in the magic kingdom !😄

Many thanks Hannah, I used to love walking around this area. Cannot walk or watch without THAT SONG lol. Jerry Rafferty, Baker Street. One of my favorite albums too. A few of my favorite restaurants in this area too. Appreciate you doing this. 👍😁👊.
Have you done #10 area yet? Please send me link if yes? One area my husband wants to walk around. One I have never done.
    Cheers 🍷 🥂

Thanks, glad you enjoyed it! I haven't done a top list (these tour vlogs actually do very badly!) but I've got a playlist with where I've been in 2020

Statue looks most like the Basil Rathbone incarnation of Sherlock. Thanks for the walk. St. James Church looks Romanesque Revival to me, but maybe a Victorian mash. I'd go for the fish and chips.

My purse arrived!!! I adore it!! I got the Ava Silver 9” in grey croc. It’s so nice and the packaging it came in is so classy. It’s just what I have been looking for years.
