Hi, I am the Don in question.. first thanks for the comments on the sweater. My mom died in March and you have all made me cry.. As for my knowledge.. a couple of times I shocked myself. And that Superman drawing for George Perez means more to me then the $1000.. Thanks to my friends Craig and Sonya who tolerated my crazy
Don is awesome. I hope he gets all the comics of his dreams and is happy. Mike is not my favorite personality and I hope he loves the stories and comics, not just the value of something.
Agree, i love to buy and read superheroe comics and i love the genre in general but i don't buy action figures and neither go to comic con as once went and i hate it not for me.
It's great that a version of this episode finally made its way to TH-cam. In the years that followed, FanExpo on Front Street became the go-to Canadian 'Comicon' experience, but it lost something along the way. This episode really captures a span of time when conventions were low-key meet and greets interspersed with some shopping. As much fun as the monolithic FanExpos on Front street became, for me this captures the last of the murmery, single room conventions that I experienced in my 20s with my friend Mike. From what I saw that day, both fans won the best possible prizes - Don got a hand drawn Superman by George Pérez and the chance to chat with him in a fun setting, and Mike got to express his passion for comics to the world. While it's fun to reminisce, it's less so to see mean-spirited and myopic comments directed at Mike about his performance. It shouldn't need to be explained, but for the sake of @silky Robinson, @Lauren Towers, @Zaineo, @Saavycupcake, @hollaxpino and any other internet drive-by critics - a lot of this was staged. Collectors Showdown was a BellExpressVu Ontario TV show that really needed to make a mountain out of a molehill by polarizing the Marvel vs DC divide. Mike is and always has been the most genuine and thoughtful friend to myself and those around him. It's unfortunate that it doesn't shine through as well in this episode for some people.
Awesome to hear, indeed I can feel how some of their lines feel scripted, shame it painted a wrong picture of t your friend. What year was this filmed in exactly, by the way?
Wow this is a very cool concept. I love this even tho I'm not a big fan of comics or anything First time iv ever seen this. I don't agree with the entire contest tho it's obvious Don is the most knowledgeable of the two and there fore should be rewarded. Not his fault he can't draw. The tiebreaker I REALLY do not agree with. It should have been a "best-of" contest. Not the 1st to be wrong. In his case anyone on Earth can win, just takes 1 wrong move. As it happend. Like i said, it's my 1st time and I love this idea and I'm gonna look further into it. HOWEVER, in this case, I just don't think the rite man won that's all. Rant over. LOL
Really though, each got the best prize for himself -- that autographed picture meant way more to Don than it would've to Mike, and getting the shopping spree was a bigger deal to Mike than it would've been to Don.
Let´s admit it: dc comics were here first. But i like Marvel. Before i got saved, i knew nothing about Marvel. i had seen a Christian guy with a wet Spiderman comic. What i liked about Marvel in the beginning, was that Peter parker is an emotional guy. he can get hurt. But i didnt understand why he was selfish. When a thief(murderer? ) ran away he just let him pass. Did nothing about it. Before i got saved i knew only superman and batman (if we are talking about super heroes). i changed a lot. I betrayed marvel a lot. Because dc looks better in periods. Because they look stylish. And i got a marvel comic. When you look at it form the outside, it looks confusing. no order at all. dc looks like they got it all in order. But my main firm is still Marvel Comics. thats all Bye

That Superman sweater is amazing, someone please tell Don's mum that she is an inspiration
Don is such a genuine person...Mike on the other hand....
Don deserved to win he actually reads the Comics. The other dork wont read what he bought. Lame.
Don is awesome. I hope he gets all the comics of his dreams and is happy. Mike is not my favorite personality and I hope he loves the stories and comics, not just the value of something.
Don should have won this
But it was really great to see his appreciation.
Mike...just...arghh I have no words for you
Your comic books can shield you like captain America’s shield metaphorically
1:37 The most attractive superman i have ever seen.
Ha so funny
I actually liked the enthusiasm and happiness.
So long as you can carry a job, you have the right to enjoy what you want in your Spare time, including EVERYTHING Comic!!!! 🖤
Fan: I like Marvel because their characters are more...HUMAN!
( the camera shows Archangel and The Juggernaut ).😅
I feel like Don won.
Don won in my book
I'm a nerd myself, but damn, I have a strong urge to scream "NERD"
i'm here in my mario 1-up top, with pokemon and mario tattoos and even i wanted to shout "NEEEEEEEEEEEERD!"

Don's the man
I wish the winner would have bought the loser a comic book that he wantes
Why? The guy that lost was stoked about his parting prize.
@@derinaries also, I would have thought Don's dream comic book would cost thousands since he's a DC fan
@@derinaries Don is thrilled with his prize.
Marvel characters aren't more complex than DC characters
RIP George Perez
Mike is why that whole scene is a joke
It’d serve Mike right if his copy of Hulk 181 has the coupon clipped out of it
Don I cried for YOU. 😢
At 26:16 she had enough of nerd
Its like a shot of the office omg

@@herr_crustovsky Most of my university years blend together now, but IIRC it was a 2005 convention with the episode airing in 2006. Fun memories :)
@@Brightcore oh wow, didn't think it was that long ago! Time sure flies...
It's no big deal. Mike and Don were cool! :D
There should have been 10 questions in total 5 regarding DC 5 regarding Marvel
You can't put a value on superheroes. People who do care nothing about them, only about $$$$$

Something about that female presenter. Wife material right there.

I am not ageinst comics (although not a fan), but loving comics so much in guys age for me is too much. We heard nothing about their personal life.
