- EAT AND EXPLORE HONG KONG'S CULTURE WITH US!
We (well I, Virginia) scoured the internet and consolidated all the best places to have a picnic in Hong Kong. I've narrowed it to these 6 spots and we went to them all (it took 3 days, you're welcome, y'all).
PLACES IN THE ORDER IN THE VIDEO:
1) INSPIRATION LAKE
It's a 1 km walk from Disneyland
FOOD STOPS: 7/11 at Inspiration Lake, or pick up food at Tsing Yi MTR station which is along the way if you're going by MTR
HOW TO GET THERE: MTR to Disneyland. Walk from there.
2) VICTORIA PEAK GARDENS
Hong Kong Island (it's the highest point on the Peak)
FOOD STOPS:
RIFLES:
The Peak Galleria, 118 Peak Rd, Central, Hong Kong
OR any of the numerous places on the Peak.
HOW TO GET THERE: The Peak Tram up. Then a taxi up to the Victoria Peak Gardens. Alternatively, you can get up to the peak using the #1 minibus or the various double decker buses (15 or X15). We like the minibus bc it's faster, but the double decker bus is more scenic, especially if you sit on the upper deck.
3) KAI TAK RUNWAY PARK
Kai Tak (old airport)
FOOD STOPS:
Grab food at Kowloon City or at where you catch the minibus (Kowloon Bay) or the bus (Kowloon City, Kwun Tong, or Kowloon Tong., etc).
HOW TO GET THERE:
There is a green minibus 86 that you catch from Kowloon Bay. Alternatively, you can catch a double decker bus from Kowloon City, Kwun Tong, Kowloon Tong, etc.)
4) SUN YET SEN MEMORIAL PARK
16 Eastern St N, Sai Ying Pun, Hong Kong
FOOD STOPS:
Lots of good food around Sai Ying Pun. Right across is a shop called Tuckshop by Social Life that has nice healthy rice and salad bowls (hipster IG ones). We got food from Donki in Central and took the tram over.
HOW TO GET THERE:
The tram works great or the MTR to Sai Ying Pun station.
5) JORDAN VALLEY PARK
No. 71, New Clear Water Bay Road, Kwun Tong, Kowloon
FOOD STOPS:
We got off at Diamond Hill MTR and went to the Plaza Hollywood mall there to grab food at M&S.
HOW TO GET THERE:
We took the MTR to Diamond Hill and then took the 54S green minibus and got off at the Shun Lee Disciplined Service Quarters stop. Double decker buses from Choi Hung or Kwun Tong as well.
6) WEST KOWLOON CULTURAL DISTRICT
FOOD STOPS:
Elements Mall or right there.
HOW TO GET THERE:
You can walk from Elements or minibus.
THE TOP 3 PICNIC SPOTS are in the video. Here's the ranking of 4-worst
4) VICTORIA PEAK GARDENS - It's nice, and pretty close to civilisation.
5) KAI TAK RUNWAY PARK - The patch of grass is nice but it's not huge. The view is gorgeous but Sun Yet Sen Memorial park also has a sea view though this one you can see both the Hong Kong Island side and the Kowloon side.
6) INSPIRATION LAKE - It's nice, except, unless you were also going to Disneyland, I think it's way too far and out of the way for anything else.

Great list!
Here's a few more of the lesser known ones you should also try:
Penfold Park which is right in the center of Sha Tin Racecourse!
Velodrome Park in TKO. Big wide open spaces much like Jordan Valley Park.
Nam Cheong Park, another with large patches of grass to spread out on.
And the newest Cha Kwo Ling Prominade Park with its multi-tiered platform levels and great waterfront views. Smaller green grass areas but the ones that are there have plenty of side distractions around them to keep you entertained
6 BEST PICNIC SPOTS in Hong Kong | Best to Worst - we ranked them so you don't have to!. Interesting and engaging video. I support your video. Watched the video Watched the video on Sep 9, 2022 very like. Thank you so much
Hi Virginia, just finished watching every vid on your channel. Amazing content that gives a real flavour (get it) of Hong Kong food, life, culture and history. With restrictions being lifted I hope you can get your tour guide business back to its former glory and post new content here. X
thanks Virginia. wish you have a great mid-autumn festival !
This is xxxxxxactly what i am looking for thaaaank u very much
I actually looking for that, thnx for info
Those are some beautiful Picnic Spots in Hong Kong. Also Hong Kong has a lot of long streets. Wish I was there to have a picnic with you Virginia sweetheart. Another good video.
Thanks so much Dominic! Hong Kong has a lot of long streets - yes! Hope you have a great weekend =)
Tamar park is also nice place for picnic 😍
I'm sorry it's not related to the video, but I was wondering about your other videos about dai pa dong and cha chaan teng, is it common to eat with stranger at the same table? Because when I go to HK and China my dad sometimes seats me in the same table with strangers. Well it was quite crowded back then, is that common?
I'd love to picnic with my family when I visit in Dec! Hopefully it won't be too cool by then :)
Thanks Virginia ! A lot of effort went into this episode. Hong Kong being sub tropical, it was interesting to see you wearing warm clothes in a couple scenes. Question - do pet owners in Hong Kong pick up after their furry child ?
haha thanks for your kind words and my my, I do believe you're the first comment for this video, so you get the skewer of 🍡!! Congrats and thanks for dropping a comment - i really appreciate it =)
As a person that resides in Florida… I understand the struggle of staying away from mosquitoes lol.
Omg, do you guys also have cockroaches because they're the worst! What's the secret to keeping cockroaches away!?!
@@hongkongfoodtours oh yeah, we definitely have cockroaches - they’re large and they also can fly. I just try to keep things clean to not attract them.
@@hongkongfoodtours oh I almost forgot - we also have to deal with lovebugs during lovebug season!
hey :) thank you for this. do you know if we can picnic on the 0+3 measures?
I’m on my 0+3, part 0 of the endeavour. As long as you don’t need to scan on the Leave Home Safe App, you’re golden!
Which for the Peak, and the other parks which are public spaces, you don’t need to! I’m not too sure about Inspiration Lake or the Kai Tak one, but the other parks are a-okay! basically you’re okay in any public area like the tst promenade is great too!
Sorry, a bit incoherent and lots of exclamation marks haha too much coffee and jet lag will do that but hope that was helpful
@@hongkongfoodtours great! thank you so much!! :D
@@hongkongfoodtours very helpful :) thank you so much!
Pretty sure the reason you were dripping in sweat on the way to Victoria Peak Garden was due to that HUGE leather jacket you were wearing, V!!?!! 😳 It's not that "cold" yet in HK?! 🤔
ahahah This was filmed a while back so it was winter then - I swear I'm not that crazy! And currently it's still freakin' hot in Hong Kong, but soon, soon, like in November, it'll be cold!
