I love Jon's reaction to that funny little whistling sound at the beginning of Distant Past. I've always wondered what that was, looks like he doesn't know either.
Jonathan has said Blast Doors is their hardest song for him to do live, due to the extreme changes in vocal dynamics and long sections without breathing. For that reason (he said) they tend to put it at or near the start of the set, while his voice still has the resources to manage it. He does look like his head's going to explode during it, here.
makes a lot of sense/ I learned how to sing the song and its really fun but holy shit is it hard to sing. If I have already been singing a lot that day theres no way Im pulling it off.
My favorite part of this set is the fact that they're all wearing the same cute space jacket. There was a conversation wherein they all had to CHOOSE a cute space jacket.
Almost impossible to reproduce the sound of the album (Get to heaven) but they give it a bloody good shot. I'm 60 and I have listened to the album 300 times.true story.
Not a word of life I come and rewatch this video so often, because I actually like these versions just as much. I love Jon’s RAW vocals, and how animated he is.
This is absolutely mind-blowing live both vocals and back up vocals on point! The fact that only 80K people have seen this is criminal, what an amazing band everything everything are!
I was lucky enough to see them at a street festival in Chicago last year and I was blown away by how amazing Jon's vocals were live and how few people were there!
the mix of stellar musicianship and awkwardness here is perfect. all the yells, grunts and the way Jeremy moves while playing the synth, I love all of it so much
@@georgetexstel5837 Hi I'm litteraly 2 years late ! But yeah I've attended one of their shows in Paris. Maybe they do have a lot of fans in England but here not so much. I think they deserve more!
Pretty cool how Jeremy (on bass) switches straight from a pick to fingerstyle for the chorus of Blast Doors. You see it clearly at 1:12. I watched this live when it went out, but only just noticed lol
This is the best live performance I've seen from ee, by far. What I love in particular is how assured and confident Jon seems. The whole band doesn't put a foot wrong. I can't wait for the time they're able to tour again
Wow, typically I find it hard to listen to these guys live, which is always upsetting because I adore their studio work, but this, this is really well performed.
That rendition of distant past, is absolutely mint! The second pre-chorus vocal, sounded even more fun filled than normal. And the taps... taps are always peng. Shitting myself in anticipation for what they bring to the floating table of the future!
Every time I come back to this video I'm puzzled at how it hasn't reached a million views yet. It's an incredibly recorded, incredible performance by an incredible set of musicians.
You've prob heard them bc they're more well known than EE but please check out TV on the Radio if you haven't yet. I hear a lot of similarities between the two bands. Check out the album Return to Cookie Mountain. Fucking masterpiece.
get to heaven will always be my fave album of ALL time. I saw these guys when I was one of four in the crowd and have compared any good music to them since, amazing.
Man, these guy are incredibly talented. Been listening to their music since 2014-2015, I think. Absolutely love it. And now I see how awesome their live performances too, great stuff!
Everything everything are in my opinion the best band ever. They inspired me to play music. Their music is right up my street! Indie, Alternative amazing!
I don’t know who organised and/or set up this gig but what a brilliant job you have done. Blast Doors was absolute knock out. Incredible audio quality too. Thank you!
I don't understand how this band is not the queen or u2 or whatever super massive rock band of our current generation. Though is not my cup of tea, they are simply genius.
I love Jon's reaction to that funny little whistling sound at the beginning of Distant Past. I've always wondered what that was, looks like he doesn't know either.

I didn't know this, thank you so much for sharing this here! :)
That’s why I love that song. It goes from rapping to yelping to choir boy to rapping. So technically insane and very difficult to sing along to (well)
makes a lot of sense/ I learned how to sing the song and its really fun but holy shit is it hard to sing. If I have already been singing a lot that day theres no way Im pulling it off.
And he absolutely crushes it. Unbelievable he sounds this good live. I just discovered them today and I’m shidding my pantaloons.
the whole performance is out of this world
I absolutely cannot believe this guy can sing like this live. This band is fucking insane.
How tf does he sing like that for an entire gig, man alive!

My favorite part of this set is the fact that they're all wearing the same cute space jacket. There was a conversation wherein they all had to CHOOSE a cute space jacket.
Jonathan's mum made them.
Whoever mic'd the kit did an absolutely stellar job.
Our very own Brendan Williams, of course!
Well played, that man.
You're absolutely right, and it's gotten wrong so often! The sound in general was cosmic.
They would have taken the feed straight outa the mikes and cleaned it all up, rather than taking the live recording straight from the room
They all have spectacular voices?! The lead especially has INCREDIBLE control over his falsetto.
I’ve never seen a band so tired and having so much fun simultaneously.
Literally me on antidepressants (tired but havin fun)
The way he sings must be exhausting for him, what a legend! awesome band!
Almost impossible to reproduce the sound of the album (Get to heaven) but they give it a bloody good shot. I'm 60 and I have listened to the album 300 times.true story.
Legend.

That high note in Blast Doors is RIDICULOUS! And he just hits it like no problem! Love this band.
they play so fucking tight, I'd love to see them live
they're incredible live. lucky to have seen them at a small venue in Boston.. it's wild they're not huge here yet.
So sublime it made their heads go red.

Shai brides?
The drummer is wildly underrated
Absolutely
Agreed! This BAND is wildly underrated!
Everyone in this band is ridiculously talented, but yeah.
Mate they’re all wildly underrated xD
No disrespect but I swear to god everybody says that about every drummer playing live 😂
One of the best bands I've ever heard. So underrated.
George Texstel have you attended any of their shows? They’re rated well but wildly underrated insofar as the quantity of fans
These guys should be so much more popular than they are.
@@georgetexstel5837 Hi I'm litteraly 2 years late ! But yeah I've attended one of their shows in Paris. Maybe they do have a lot of fans in England but here not so much. I think they deserve more!
My brother is obsessed with these guys, he introduced me to them and I just found out they're playing at Boardmasters this year I'm SO EXCITED
Jeremys bass lines are so sick!
Indeed they are ! First time I listen to this band, the bass player blows me away. Also he has a magnificent sound !
Jeremy’s synth bass and backing vocals are also top notch ... no wonder Foals tapped him to take over as their live bassist.
Do you know how can I find that kind of synth?
@@ivandavidfloresherrera5348 it's called novation bass station II
Unbelievable how good they sound live with this kind of music style!
A seamless blend of every decade of music for the past 60 years put into each song.
These guitar parts are devilishly hard.
I think about this performance of The Wheel probably at least once a week. Absolutely next level.
I never get tired of this performance, they're all amazingly talented
Same over here
Blast Doors will remain as one of my favorite songs out of the album.
Pretty cool how Jeremy (on bass) switches straight from a pick to fingerstyle for the chorus of Blast Doors. You see it clearly at 1:12.

Jon's vocals daamnn
Can't wait to see them in Denver, these guys have been on my radar heavy since the pandemic lockdown. Outta nowhere and fantastic.
travelled from England to see them in LA! A good excuse to travel!!!
Ridiculously good quality, seen them live a couple of times and they're just insane.
This is the best live performance I've seen from ee, by far. What I love in particular is how assured and confident Jon seems. The whole band doesn't put a foot wrong. I can't wait for the time they're able to tour again
this is such an amazing set, that blast doors performance was awesome!
neighte ikr? The recording is really nice as well.
For real. That was a fantastic fantastic performance.
The sound quality of this set absolutely unbelievable. The bass slaps me into next week during Kemosabe
keyboardist is a legend...
Rayyan Khan Haha he's always so into it
tamppii Ⓥ really passionate, really underrated.
dude fucking rules
He's like this.
His name's Peter Sené
The band are as always amazing, but the sound is absolutely incredible! Kudos to the sound engineer!
Very impressive live set. Sounds just like the album versions which is so rare.
Wow, typically I find it hard to listen to these guys live, which is always upsetting because I adore their studio work, but this, this is really well performed.
Matt Dunn the imperfections make it cooler in my opinion
I saw them at Alexandra Palace at the start of the year and they blew me away!
A lesson on rock vocals from the singer. This made my week. Refreshingly sublime.
They are so freakin tight it is amazing!
Really love Blast doors. ❤
And omg the bass ❤❤❤
Also, Michael Spearman is one of the most technically sound drummers in human history and I will fight anybody NOW, or in the year 2016 about it.
Keyboardist is a true connoisseur.
This is the first time I’ve heard these guys live. Amazing ambition and execution. Original and powerful.
5:47 is my favourite part, so pleasing damn
oh that part just SNAPS doesnt it...highly satisfying
That rendition of distant past, is absolutely mint! The second pre-chorus vocal, sounded even more fun filled than normal. And the taps... taps are always peng. Shitting myself in anticipation for what they bring to the floating table of the future!
update from the future: it's totally great
Love the tones on that guitar!
So incredibly tight, what a band.
Low Four what you should do is get them back at Old Granada Studios again in 2018. I’d love to see ‘em play songs from A Fever Dream here. Keep it up!
Every time I come back to this video I'm puzzled at how it hasn't reached a million views yet. It's an incredibly recorded, incredible performance by an incredible set of musicians.

My favourite band and I'm over half a century so, seen a few!
get to heaven will always be my fave album of ALL time. I saw these guys when I was one of four in the crowd and have compared any good music to them since, amazing.
i have to ask about how you came to be one of only four people at an ee gig that sounds wonderful
Man, these guy are incredibly talented. Been listening to their music since 2014-2015, I think. Absolutely love it. And now I see how awesome their live performances too, great stuff!

Also how Jonathan keeps up those falsettos for a whole is quite simply beyond me
I think they are one of the most interesting bands of thisdecade with Foals, Alt-j, and Glass Animals.
the bands you just listed are pretty boring aside from possibly alt-j tho, lol

Phenomenal performance.

Just realised how much I want to see Ivory Tower from the new album performed in this set....

Holy cow this set was amazing and yes, the sound quality is INCREDIBLE!!
Mind blowing ❤
most intriguing performance I've seen on this channel... with the exception of gogo penguin, but let's be honest no one is going to top that session.
Hey, you speak the truth. Help me ask them to have GoGo Penguin back on for their new album? We need to help get them out there..
