The MPG indicator on the truck says 18.9 MPG

This lawsuit is really intended to go after all the guys who have deleted EGR and DPF, knowing that most won't spend the high price to have those items reinstalled. Not to mention the fact that there was a reason why they removed in the first place. But John Kerry can fly around the world in his wife's Gulfstream IV with no particulate filters and preach down to us in how all of we 6.7 Cummins owners are polluting the world. Interesting thing on my 23 Ram 2500 Rebel 6.7, the original window sticker is stamped with a B for both CHG and Smog, but on the PDF copy that was available online, it says C+ for CHG and actually a B+ for smog.
The problem is that the EPA is making up metrics with little to no input from auto/engine manufacturers. In other words, they are pulling the Tier standards out of their ass not even knowing if those standards can be met. But to them, it doesn't matter. If they really cared about NOx levels they wouldn't be mandating biodiesel content at the pumps because biodiesel results in higher NOx levels. Instead, they would be trying figure out how to get every diesel pump full of Renewable diesel. Then, coupled with the massive wide open Southern border where this Administration has allowed 10+ million illegals to come in to our already overcrowded schools, hospitals, and roads - they obviously don't give AF about the smog in Southern California now do they?
I wouldn't take any new tune from Ram on my MY23 6.7 because I don't want it to consume any more DEF than it already is. I bought my truck just a few months ago before all this crap came out, crap that obviously Cummins and the DOJ were aware of. I've already incurred a perceived loss of value and to some people, a truck that they wouldn't even want to touch. I don't want Ram to buy my truck back but I'm looking for massive compensation. Been there and done that with VW; they bought back a pristine loaded Touareg TDI that was still cleaner than most other vehicles on the road. This is politics, not science.

You do realize if you dont take the tune your serial number is flagged and you run into a pile of issues down the road? Its all there in the release.
I have 2 Ram 2500's. A 2013 w/ 130K miles and a 2022 w/ 8K miles. Both are 6.7 Cummins. I'm the original owner of both. On the Hwy w/ cruise set @ 75mph my 2013 averages 20.5 mpg and my 2022 got 22.0 mpg on a 3000 mile road trip. The 2022 does seem to consume quite a bit more DEF however. I'm pleased with my mileage.

Hey. I have a 2020 2500 cummins. I had the cp4 replaced at 18000. And my fuel mileage got way less per miles. And I definitely use more def. Towing my 14000.00 fithwheel I'm about 10mpg. Before I was 11.5 to 12 mpg.
I have 2 Ram 2500's; a 16 BigHorn w/50K miles and a 21 Rodeo w/19K miles (both crew-cabs and both 6.7L Cummins). I drive 190 miles/week (95% hwy) and with cruise set to 65mph my 16 avg's 20.7mpg and the 21 is 22.4mpg (based on 5K miles) - respectable. In my 06 4th Gen (Laramie Sport) Dually 3500, I avg'd 23mpg before selling it. However, with DEF, it's definitely more expensive. I live in freaked-out CA, so future programming and recalls issues could change that mileage. I'll be watching for additional suits and recall info.
I have a 2019 Ram 2500 Cummins and had the CP3 recall done and I noticed that my fuel economy has gone down and DEF usage has gone up. I do run a legal tune on my truck with all emissions in operation, and before it made a huge difference in fuel economy now not so much, and yes I did go back and get the right tunes for the CP3 pump. Everything worked better before the recall was done so I kinda wonder the same thing, was something done to the tune for emission.

my 2019 was getting 20 mpg before its first emission's recall. it dropped to about 15 and after the cp3 recall it stayed at about 15. i haven't pulled my 10k toy hauler yet but it only gets 9 mpg and def is about same
I've driven 9,800 miles with my 2021 HO over the last 6 months and I think I've filled the def tank 3 times. I pull a travel trailer and a dump trailer.. My trunk has never been to a dealer in the 30k miles I've had it and it won't be going to a dealer any time soon. I don't live in an emission state and I still have it stock. I do run HotShot Secrets EDT on every fill up and have since the second tank of fuel in the truck. If someone flashed your truck without your knowledge, that would be a breaking point for me. I have a 2016 Ram 6.7 Cummins. Not towing I average 22 mpg.... have seen it as high as 25. I don't idle my truck unless it is warm up when the weather is in the 30s or lower.
Curious... were you able to get the statement of After Market Tune removed from Truck's record. I noticed it included a comment about no warranty.
Thanks for watching, they removed comment from my paperwork. They said if the truck was tuned after the recall though the warranty would be gone.
Reply to your last post update: My understanding is the 2019's PCM's were flashed for emission upgrade calibration per the VB6 emission recall in 2020. This occurred after Cummins had to do a review on the 2019 trucks emissions after their claims they get 1,000' lb torque with over 400HP. Now we are in the 67A recall for the same PCM flash emissions calibration upgrade for 2013-2018 trucks. Then they will send recall notices for the same to be done on the 2020-2023 with date unknown for now. It's likely your 2019 already had the PCM emissions updated calibration done.

Compound turbos would rectify the situation as well as well as tuning the fuel injection system to wait until boost was already built before it sprays in extra fuel. You can get a diesel to run clean. With the added benefit of not overheating cylinders 5 and 6, so you don't have to worry about EGTs because you're pushing so much air

The mileage difference is nost likely from gear ratio difference between 2014 and 2019 trucks. Almost all 2500 in 2014 and 2015 had 3.42 gears. The later 2500 trucks almost all have 3.73 gears.

MY TRUCK WILL NOT PASS SMOG AFTER THE RECALL!!!! 2018 Ram 2500 Cummins failed a California emissions test Ram completed the recall. I walked back into the dealer and they refused to even take it in. Add this to my failed 68rfe and the failed nav system. A truck is about as useless as a wheel barrow in CA without a smog cert. Opened up a complaint with Stellantis. They suggested I drive my truck to the next town over and give that dealer try. Terrible ownership experience. 54,xxx very easy, well maintained miles, pitifully.

I kind of think this is to back the guys who deleted their trucks in a corner. A few states already stated that they will not register these trucks until the update has been done which is probably nothing really at all but an inspection on the dealers part.
I have owned 3 Dodge/Ram diesel trucks since 1999, never bothered trying a Ford or Chevy diesel, the Dodge and Rams have served me well. BUT! I just received the emissions recall notice on my 2017 Ram limited 3500 dually where cummins got caught. After they update the software, if this truck is considerably weaker and drinks fuel and/or DEF, I am done with Ram.
Some people say just don't take it for the recall, but I still have it serviced at the dealership due to warranty. Then what if I have it serviced elsewhere so the dealership can't do the recall and I have fuel or DEF system issues, then they will figure out a way to deny repair under warranty.
I have a 16 and empty I get 20 to 24 depending on hills. Loaded down I get 15
My bone stock 2017 ram 3500 cummins diesel single rear will with a over 200 pound ARE cabin on the bed gets around 19-17 mpg going up a slolum of a trip on my daily travel of 76 miles one way to work with minaml flatland along the trip. And sips on def like a english gentleman with his pinky up.

I have the same truck and same year, I'm getting 15L /100km = to 15.6 MPG average, and i get about 4500KM to 5200KM for the DPF tank. Lots of city driving, live in the Grater Toronto Area ( Canada ) .

Just got my 2017 ram reprogram update 67A everything seems the same power same but mileage went from 14mpg to 17mpg for first tank hope it stays around 17mpg no big deal took about 1hr at local dodge desler
I have a 2020 ram 2500 with 6.7, I average at least 20 hwy 16in city, however towing my 5th wheel it does consume a considerable amount of Def. I do have several banks modifications. Larger tires and No tune.

I think you can contact the dealer and provide your vin number they can tell you what recalls are open on your vehicle. Best of luck.
Interesting data on MPG, and from my reading and various Truck TH-cam interpretations… it does sound like the recall - update will impact performance & milage.
They’ve been cheating on Emissions to either improve performance in HP & Torque or improve MPG… or Both over a 10 yr period.
Curious how Recall will carry out… as totally voluntarily or associated with Registration Renewal… then next question would be the large percentage of Deleted Trucks.
Going forward new models will likely be lower performing… maybe disappointly compared to other HD Diesel Pickups!
Thank you for watching! We only have a few model years left before the 2027+ Emissions regs go into place. Performance will go down, Price will go up, reliability will go down. I dont see HD trucks staying with a diesel beyond 2032 with the regs going in place. By a new diesel and try to make it last 20 years!
@@CTECH-REVIEW Agreed, after the 2027 Regs, diesel will be essentially forced out by cost & maintenance. The 2023-24+ 6.7 Powerstroke will likely be the "Power King" before the decline of all Diesel Brands and while Cummings struggles to obtain even current ratings with Full Emissions applied after Federal action.
I'm actually very impressed with the HP / Torque ratings of All New Diesels considering the Emissions and in comparison to the Pre-emissions Diesel power ratings. All obtained Super gains while adding extensive emissions, when you compare the first several Gas Emission Generations being lack luster. Ford has especially found the power with all the emissions packed on while providing overall great reliability... baring dirty fuel CP4 problems (correctable with S&S Pump).

I haven’t broken my 2019 in yet. Only 18k miles. So I’m getting 9-10mpg city right now. Looks like my truck is going on the “Jenny Craig diet” or I’m for sure trading in.
My wife has a 2018 Ram 2500 4wd 6.7L Cummins. Something I learned with my 2016 Ram 1500 4wd 3.0L, works with the 2500. Use Hot Shots Secret EDT in the fuel. Both trucks use very little DEF. According to the Banks iDash on my wife's truck. The regen cycles are about 1,100 miles. The fuel economy is 20-22mpg with our Hawk model 4wheel popup camper @ 65mpg. Without the EDT, fuel economy is 13mpg. So the problem is the FUEL quality! Just improve the additives! Whatever Hot Shots Secret does chemically works very well.

Although a phenomenal product and should be used regardless....you WILL NOT see that much of a gain. Stop the BS. I have a 2017 ram 3500 with a complete weight loss. I see 17.5 average. You may see 19 or 20 on flat land....but definitely not going to see 7mpg gain. Absolutely not! My tune is 0hp and transmission tuning. Only reason I have the tuner is for the check engine light. I do not add power.
@All-Miles-Matter - I also use Rotella T6 5w40 motor oil in both trucks. The Cummins runs much quieter and smoother with the synthetic lighter grade. The viscosity improvers in 15w40 is the same as the 5w40 oil.
I also drive moderately. I use speed control whenever possible. And maintain adequate tire pressure.
What gear ratio and tire size do you have? We have a 3.42 ratio and 275/70-18 tires.
Use Amsoil all in one, and regen every 1k miles seems crazy. My l5P truck has done 2 in 86k miles
My 2022 RAM Cummins HO on a 1900+ mile road trip pulling 5k lbs drank DEF. I started full, brought 2 boxes (5 gallons) with me and had to purchase a third 220 miles from home. My previous GMC w/Duramax was much better on DEF and better mileage. Just traded the RAM for a 2024 GMC. Loved the Cummins torque and exhaust brake but too much going on with Cummins and RAM. My build date was within same time as PDDiesel’s 2022 issues with his fleet of 22’s so that also weighed in on my decision as well as the potential performance and value impact of the latest Cummins issue.

Overall I like the new GMC but to new to give an honest overall assessment. Its weird because I bought a 2500 Denali Ultimate but it has the 11K Heavy Duty tow package which has the 3500 frame, rear springs, shocks and 12 inch rear end. I was very happy with my last Denali and only got rid of it for the RAM because of the CP4 fuel pump, which is why I avoided Ford as an option to replace the RAM.
Ya, the new/chassis duramax trucks are hard to beat, I bought 2 brand new in 2021 and haven't looked back.. 1 of them will be going on a diet soon and losing some weight
Boxed DEF is stupid. Fill up on FRESH DEF at any major truck stop chain. 200-250mi per GALLON of DEF is NORMAL ✅
Going through these comments, you guys got me wondering and worried…
I have a 20 18, 2500 Cummins I bought used with 82,000 miles on it in July of ‘22. I’ve never gotten better than an average of 13mpg or so. Frequently lower. I rarely have to add DEF, maybe once every few thousand miles one box.
So will mine get worse if the recall is done??? I took it in yesterday for Service to replace the brake sensor which was tripping and killing my use of cruise control. Told by the service department it was a big deal for a lot of people but not to the level of a recall yet. I was emphatic about them not doing the emissions recall and they said that they won’t if I said don’t. So….
I wouldn't worry about it...quite yet. I just posted a few other Cummins towing videos with latest EPA reflash talking about DEF use...check that out. From what I am seeing DEF use is way less than the other trucks out there. If your not towing much DEF consumption is minimal! The deal with DEF is your MPG calculator does not calculate your DEF burn. The truck won’t run without DEF.

What if your truck is deleted? I have a 2017 deleted. Average 17 mpg in town and 22mpg on the highway.

My 2015 HD 2500 Dodge with 6.7 turbo will get 22 + mpg on the highway. Before taking it in for the latest recall about 2 weeks ago it barely used DEF.. i will know soon.

I’ve had a 91, 95 Cummins, both built that each got 20-23 mpg not towing. My 07.5 with the 1st 6.7 not modified dropped to 14 mpg, my 17 only gets 15.7 mpg. I don’t own a pickup for the mpg, it’s for work and towing, but I’d still take 20+ mpg over 15 mpg and no def.

As an owner you aren't obligated to comply with anything. Don't go to the dealer.
I guess I'm a Ram "fan boy" but its getting hard to be. I have a '17 3500 dually with 200k on it. Ive had everything from differential pressure sensor to complete dpf failure. I live in a county with emissions testing every other year so deleting isn't an option. Luckily I found a complete exhaust system from a 24k mile truck. Oh, and dpf problems. And if you haven't checked the grid heater bolt, you had better do the "jiggle test". Mine failed! So I replaced the intake with the Banks monster ram and boost tubes. I've done most of the work myself but at 67 years old its getting hard. But I can honestly say if im easy on the throttle I can get 22-23 mpg on the highway(hand calculated). Oh yea, I also have a FASS filter system and fuel heater.
Commercial 'truck' plates....no emissions testing.
Explain the "Device" that needs to be unplugged. Court documents say device, A device is a Physical thing, can we get a FOIA for what device they are talking about?

FCA US LLC, has determined that certain 2018 RAM 2500 trucks equipped with 6.7L Cummins Turbo Diesel engine requires upgraded emission control software according to Federal and California regulations/standards.
The engine control software in your vehicle must be updated with an upgraded calibration as required by the US Environmental Protection Agency and California Air Resources Board for better emission performance.
The dealer will have to reprogram the Power Control Module (PCM)
Dealership Instructions: Please reference Emissions Recall 67A
and then it goes on to say this repair is free of charge, it will take about an hour and of course in order to register my vehicle again I would need a certificate as proof.
Also if someone has already paid out of pocket for this, then they can make a reimbursement request.
Same here man calling my local lithia to see exactly what they have to do because mine is missing parts🤣 hoping it’s just a flash and tune and don’t have to sniff it
Pull all services records, sounds like a dealership did either a scan or non public update on the DEF after treatment cycle count …
What about differential gear ratios? IIRC the RAMs have 3 possible ratios, standard is 3.42, with trucks possibly ordered with 3.73 or 4.10 for heavy towing applications. So if the truck is equipped with a 3.73s of course it will get worse fuel economy than a truck with 3.42s. More RPM=more fuel! The powerstrokes also have a 10 speed as well which aids in better economy vs the dinosaur 68rfe the RAM has.
only 3.73s or 4.10s in the 5th Gen ram, the 3.42 is not offered anymore.
I don’t understand how people getting these crazy mpgs I have 2020 ram 3500 mega cab Cummins HO and my regular mpg is 13:5mpg max I get 14.0mpg after cp3 recall before I was getting 16mpg on cp4

Remove and clean your Def injector. Just two 10 mm bolts. Def crystals form and mess up the spray pattern. Just wash off the crystals with water.
You might do less passive regens if the system is working properly.
Less regens equals better mileage.
My 2019 had buildup that was effecting the spray pattern.
Unloaded mine gets 21 or better at highway speeds.
23 or better at 60 mph according to the dash.
Skinny pedal makes a difference.
Have a gasket onhand if you remove injector. Keep a spare in the glove box. Put some grease over the nut to keep it from rusting.

I get 15-16mpg back and forth to work and 19.5 mpg @ 70mph hwy in my CC 7.3IDI with 0 DEF used 😂😂 412K miles and counting.
If you think EPA done with Cummins and Ram. They have their eyes on Ford and GM. When there's smoke. There's a fire.
Should have had a dyno done before then after. If numbers go down. It's a lawsuit. Advertising HP/TQ then after purchasing they take it away.
I pull a 43ft Toy Hauler and get about 9 mpg going 70 mph, going 60 mph will get about 10 mpg. Used 2.5 gals of DEF in 420 miles. Empty can get 21 mpg on the highway going 80 mph. Can`t drive it that slow.
This is a huge deal. How many years did Cummins test the new programming to make sure the motors don’t burn down or have other issues once they have this update 20k miles down the road? Who is responsible if there are motor issues once they are out of warranty?? These engines weren’t designed in the first place for this new programming. You can bet on lower power, lower fuel mileage, and more DEF consumption at a minimum.
My 17 get 12 mpg bone stock. Would love 14 mpg

and if you delete everything you can get up to 20mpg or more ... since they put that note on your invoice about tuner voids all warranty going forward be ready for them to turn you down on any warranty work this coming from dealer
I confirmed with dealer and Ram my warranty is still good to go. If you tuned after the last dealer flash then I would expect you would lose your warranty. I see no reason to delete my Cummins. I got 19mpg on 35 inch tires vs a 23 f350 powerstroke that got 20mpg on stock tires and had a lower valance on bumper. Stock the Cummins makes awesome power.

I had a 2020 Power Stroke, now I have a 2021 Ram 2500. My Ford had great fuel mileage. My Ram has terrible fuel mileage and consumes way more DEF. Just saying

06 mega cab 5.9 3500 SRW (non-dually) Laramie loaded out 4wd, lifted tuned etc, I average 24 mpg highway and 21-22 city I’m on an 8” lift, brand new 26x14’s 37x13.50r26 Gladiator m/t Tires 5” straight pipe cold air intake, smarty touch tuned level 8, mild built trans, still on oem engine if I cruise at 55 I can get 25 easily with hand calculated mileage per gallon and The “lie-o-meter” On the headliner says 26-27 on the highway and 24 city. Real time hand calculated mpg is 24 highway 21-22 city. Sell that one go get a Laramie 3rd gen and be happy brother 🫡

The DEF containers are not 1 gallon containers. They are 2.5 gal per container.

I have a 22 and I've hand calculated for the entire 40k I've owned the truck and I have seen 21 mpg before. 10.5 towing my trailer, average of 17.5 ish all around. I'd love to know why there's such a difference I'm so curious. Loving the videos as well, I've been tuned in the whole way. I'm super interested to see if there will be anything such as a compensation package or buy back program for owners you mentioned in one of your earlier videos

I originally got 23 mpg empty when I purchased the ram cummins and was told fuel economy would improve after breaking in engine. Which is typically true for diesel engines.. after replacing fuel pump recall work it decrease power and fuel economy.
It absolutely received that flash. 🤦♂️ that sucks man…… I’m sorry to hear that because that shit Mf sucks…… so shitty that you spend all that money on a brand new truck pretty much just to get it de-tuned from the dealership and no way to reverse………..it in certain states……👀 however still that’s bullshit and terrible to see you getting such crappy mpg out of this truck…. Deleted and tuned 5” exhaust straight pipe with a nice cold air intake on it would get 8-10 more miles per gallon at least…….

I have heard that if the recall isn't done you will not be able to register your truck when the time comes. I think its just a way to find out t how many are deleted and then come the fines to the owners. Im glad mine is a 2012. This is going to turn into a giant mess for a lot of people. It sucks because the emissions systems are such garbage and so expensive to fix. Trust me I have dealt with it once already. Its not a matter of if it breaks down its a matter of when it breaks down and leaves you stranded
The only state that is doing that is California and possibly other CARB states.

I got a 2021 dodge ram diesel 2500 four-wheel-drive and I’m not shitting you it gets 23 miles to the gallon and it don’t burn hard any depth and I got 52,000 miles on it and it’ll burn the wheels and it’s never been tuned or nothing it rocks

Leave the stock tires on them and they get 20mpg that’s what my stock 2023 does love the truck
I’ve pulled 19-21mpg out of my 22’ mega cab cruising at 80-85mph rolling up and down hills so they are definitely capable of getting really good mileage
is urs HO /aisin ? ,mine making like valve /ruttligs noise at lower rpm under a load ,i put 2k miles only dealer told me its normal ,had 2022 SO with 68 rfe no clapping/ ruttligs

All the recall does is to recalibrate the DEF gauge to read lower than it really is. That will turn on the alert much sooner making you re fill before really running out.

And all this is why i have a pre emissions diesel! ‘02 24v HO 6 speed manual! I tell the truck how to drive and when to shift, it doesn’t tell me. I can easily get 20-25mph highway. No def piss. No egr, no cat, none of that crap. A diesel engine was never designed to eat its own ass! Boycott the epa and federal emissions! Its all a scam!
Lmfao, 23mpg full delete, truck is a rocket ship, keep your junk emissions , I'll just keep on burning less fuel getting more mpg and never deal with DEF or the waste afterwards. The perfect tune gets you zero smoke and no stink and extreme reliability and no waiting days on end for some bullshit dpf temp sensor or a month and a half for a DEF pump. I deleted out of pure rage due to the absolute crap bolted to my truck, will never go back.

Who cares? Who bought a truck to get good fuel mileage? Get real people. Just complaining to complain. If you don't want the recall, don't go to stealership to get it. Problem solved. I live in Texas and 90% or more of trucks are, uhm, well, upgraded. No problems. This is a nothing burger.

@fltllc4136 try that in Texas. Wouldn't work out for the government. For example. The legal tint limit is 25% or it doesn't pass inspection. Do you have any idea how many cars trucks and suvs have tint below 25%? Tons. They're registered. What about deleted trucks? They're registered. Drivers always find a way. This will be no different. Many states operate the same way. This is a bs story just to fine a company. Not making a bit of difference.
I'm not worried about fuel mileage. But if my dodge is getting around 750 miles per fill, and suddenly it drops to 300 mils per fill, yea I would be concerned. And my work truck has a 50 gal tank

Dude FCA Cummins owes people allot of money - warranty and cash. This is a very bad deal compared to VW.
According to what I have found FCA is in the clear as Cummins was responsible for all of this. It also looks like some items will get an increased warranty due to the changes.

The less you pull, the more def you will use. I have an 18 and all it does is pull 29,000 pounds everyday. You want better fuel economy, delete it.
Solution: move to an intelligent jurisdiction, and delete.
There is no way that burning horse piss in your exhaust is good for the environment. Have you stood next to a truck doing a burn? It stinks.
