  • Common MikroTik OSPF mistakes and how to avoid them, Lorenzo Busatti (Grifonline S.r.l., Italy). Installing and configuring OSPF is about understanding more than just how to configure RouterOS. By avoiding common mistakes and assumptions made when deploying OSPF using RouterOS can lead to a higher quality of installation. We will be covering some of the pitfalls we've seen and show how to avoid them..

There is an article i read somewhere discouraging engrs not to do redistribution of connected routes (except on few occasions) .in an isp environment were you have many sub-component IPs in a router . it becomes difficult to be adding each network or summary address on ospf network in order to advertise it . These is were mikrotik os v 7 beats alot of other vendor routers . all you need do, to advertise the sub-component IPs,is to select all (all as in interface under interface-template) ,under the ospf proccess . Select all( (all as in interface under interface-template) and make it passive ,while enabling only the ospf interface to be active . in these light all sub-component will be advertise automatically and seen in other routers as LSA type 3 (inter-area) instead of redistribution connected routes (LSA type 4 and 5) .i say kudus to mikrotik for these feature in os 7 .

this is very informative but i have personally never seen anything like this happen.
maybe this happened in previous RouterOS versions? we run OSPF in bridge interfaces (which means the interface never goes down) as default OSPF type and never seen OSPF get stuck when the link comes back up.

Its not just OSPF, if you have to reboot your router, you lose a leg
