Everything from Alligators and Crocodiles to invasive Pythons and Knight Anoles have crossed their paths, but tonight they find something extremely rare - an invasive but very WILD Veiled Chameleon!

*Although Veiled Chameleons are native to the Arabian Peninsula they have established breeding populations in South Florida in recent years due to favorable climate conditions and an abundance of specimens released from the exotic pet trade. The Chameleon discovered in this video was not released back into the wild and was instead given to an educational/research group.

Fun fact! In parts of Madagascar, chameleons are considered a bad omen. So, when Sir David Attenborough travelled there to record his famous nature documentary, he and the crew would leave chameleons in their cars to ward off thieves.

I found one yesterday in Lake Worth. It was broad daylight, and it was attempting to cross the street. I immediately pulled over and picked it up and put it on a tree. It truly was beautiful, even though it was desperately trying to bite my hand.

You guys are so lucky. The only wildlife I get to see close to me is what fall out of some of the bars and clubs late Friday and Saturday nights.

debbiethemadbee - I see and hear lots of bugs and birds, from grasshoppers and katydids to red-shouldered hawks and barred owls. Not much else that is very noticeable, though.

I have one at home, so I can tell for sure: they can bite through skin (they have tiiiny little, but sharp teeth and they pull the skin they bite). Or sometimes they are so angry that they bite anything near their head - for example a branch, which can hurt their mouth a bit.

+Earthworm Joe That doesn't matter. You should keep them in a cage with a heat bulb AND a UVB light always! In Hungary summers are warm enough to keep them outside in a screen cage.
+Dorottya Varga i used to have one :( mine sadly died after only a year as he was being taken care of while i was on holiday with family and they fed him black crickets. As mine was quite shy to eating he let them crawl over him and they bit him. The bite on his back became infected and he started to refuse to drink. He died from infection and dehydration :(

I moved to Florida years ago. I never caught any lizards, but I found several bales of cocaine one night on the beach back in 1979, just south of Miami, and now I live in a mansion in Pompano Beach and I'll never have to work again.

***** I'm on the Gulf side near Fort Myers Beach/Sanibel! We just had a few gray skies and a bit of rain. But my friend lives in Ft Lauderdale, Clearwater, and another in Orlando, and they all got slammed pretty hard. The storm surge was the worst part, they said.
I live in sw Florida and I just recently got a pet chameleon because my dad found it in the wild
He is very lucky to meet such an amazing person and to be with the crew in south Florida

they are still invasive they might not be doing a lot of damage but it still isnt good

Wow, great video. That was a great catch, the chameleon had great coloration. I'm going through a veiled chameleon hatch right now, they incubated for 7 months. 23 of the 33 eggs have hatched. They make amazing pets with the right care.
you showcase these animals like no other they're are beautiful, magnificent creatures, Evan though some can be dangerous you show there existence, how to handle them or what not to go near. you are truly an amazing person I actually am scared of frogs lizards snakes ect, would not go near them but watching you handle them is so beautiful your the best keep up the good work I'm Ryan from the uk

used to have a chameleon as a pet when i lived in malawi. his favourite food was grasshopers, seeing this brought back the memories
+SilverFang cool, i had a owl some years ago, i was feeding her with frogs and she was just fine but i released her into the wild after 1 week, animals are better in the wild ;)
kaklikful yeah, i released my chameleon too when i moved. i knew he could take care of himself because i always fed him by taking him outside and placing an insect somewhere near him so he does the hunting himself. it was always so interesting to watch him notice his prey. one eye focusses on it at first, then both and then boom his tongue shoots out and he has it. :D

I'm just going to get a way bigger cage and that's my only Christmas present. I can't release him, I'm in England and I need some advice, for a while now my chameleon hasn't been eating meal worms and doesn't recognise crickets. It all started when I started hand feeding him fruit but since then he won't eat mealworms and I didn't feed him crickets since he was about two months old so he doesn't see them as food. I honestly don't know what to do. He is kept at my dad's house so I don't always have access to him. Do I change my schedule to see him more? Any advice will be greatly appreciated.
I feed him primarily mangoes.
