Citroen e-C4 reversing camera & parking sensors (on a 2021 Shine Plus)

- In this video I look at the camera and parking sensors on a 2021 Citroen e-C4 Shine Plus, with the 50kWh battery. Both have functions which are not explained in other review videos, so this may help any potential e-C4 (or C4) buyers.
The rear reversing camera has "top down vision", which is particularly good when you get close to an obstruction. Even though these do not have the full 360 birds eye view, side vision is simulated from the single rear camera. If you opt for the City Park Pack, which costs £350 extra on the Shine and Shine Plus models, it adds a front camera and then gives you 360 vision.
A standard the 2021 Shine and Shine Plus models front, rear and lateral parking sensors. The Sense and Sense Plus just get rear sensors only. While the top spec cars do not have ultra sonic sensors along the sides of the car, it uses the sensors on the bumpers to measure any objects and then displays the warning as it passes the sides. I try to show this in operation in the video.

I wish 360 degree cameras were included as standard. It's a must-have feature for me and is on my 2013 Leaf Tekna. Lots of sellers don't accurately report a car's features or they try to list everything and make a hash of it, obviously a car has seatbelts in 2023 and it probably doesn’t need to be on the feature list.

Very useful and informative video. I have a Kona but keep looking at the EC4 as i have back/ comfort issues and this car is widely regarded as comfortable. These features are great, must get a test drive.
Yes the e-C4 is very comfortable. I didn't find the seats comfortable at first, but you do get used to them and they are good. But on a short test drive, it might be difficult to tell. Compared to a Kona, you'll find the e-C4 more relaxing as it has a less powerful motor, but its quieter and a much softer suspension. Its performance is more than adequate though. It can still spin the front wheels if you boot it.
Around 15 years ago during a rainstorm, I reversed my Renault Megane Coupe into a bollard which costs a fortune to repair and affected my insurance for several years afterwards. I only wish this kind of technology had been widely available then.

The front/side sensors was one reason I bought one. The side sensors weren’t on all cars after 2021. Maybe the rain affected sensors. The sensors also activate when you are nearly stationary in traffic sometimes.

@@AndyC2_ I don't find it a problem whatsoever. In fact, it's been 2 months since the car was last washed and I can see out just fine.
Just like the Hyundai Ioniq, the lower part of the glass gets dirty, but the larger top part is kept cleaner by the spoiler catching the spray.

Feature shown from 4:00 - birds eye view, seems to be a little-known feture in the Ioniq 38 too (not sure about the 28). Maybe not as good as that shown on the e-C4 but certainly helps avoid backing up to but not into bollards etc.
Have the newer models got an optimised heat pump and final drives ratios? If so this should improve efficiency.
Hi Matt, I have been driving an e-C4 Shine Plus since September of this year and I really enjoy your informative videos. Mine does have the front camera, but I've never noticed the side warning feature that you so nicely demonstrated. I have a remark and a question. The remark first: you're driving around with the passenger seat heating on and there's no butt occupying the seat. And the question is: what do you do in case of a flat tire? As far as I know there's no spare tire and no puncture repair kit with these beauties.
Seat heater - it's left on when there was last a passenger in the car, which was the evening before. They don't turn off when the car does, like they do on many other vehicles.
Flat tire - I carry two puncture repair kits in all my vehicles. A gunk type one (amzn.to/3uCrzHA) and a string one (amzn.to/4afD0FI). You can get yourself out of trouble with these unless its a side wall puncture.

I've had to go out and double check as I normally turn off auto-dipping as I don't like it. But no, a 2021 Shine Plus doesn't have auto-dipping. It does have auto-folding mirrors, which you can turn on/off (advisable to turn off in these freezing conditions).

AVAS is subtle on the e-C4. I'll see if I can record it, but I've tried recording a slow drive by video of this once and it didn't work, so I haven't bothered since.

We're looking at a shine plus second hand... The small battery is really annoying though... Coming from a Model 3 long range...
I just got mine, it's the top spec Model with camera at the front, self driving on the Autobahn etc. What I don't get is why they've dropped the self parking feature called "Park Assistant" on the 2024 Model, you can't order it anymore.
Is the lack of a rear wiper an issue? The camera is great for reversing, but I like to keep an eye on what's behind at all times and I've read reports that the back window quickly gets obscured.

Not for efficiency, but yes I do prefer it slightly more over the Ioniq. For comfort and higher seat/ride height.

Same exist in Vauxhall Corsa. Unreliable tech on my experience.
