  • Stephan, a mechanic at Beachbikes.net, demonstrates how to change an bicycle inner tube. The bike he demonstrates on is a single speed beach cruiser bike with a coaster brake. He shows us how to disengage the coaster brake, remove the rear wheel and change the bicycle tube. The procedure is pretty much the same for all bikes except for the removal of the wheel. This can vary based on the rear gearing and brake system.

    This video is exactly what I needed to see. I've never changed a bicycle tire before. Thanks for the clearly explained instructions. I appreciate that you explained it with just the right amount of content. I'm confident that can change the tires on my vintage Schwinn cruiser bike tomorrow.

    If the tire is flat ALWAYS remove the entire tire. Check the rim strip and run your hand inside the tire to check for a tiny piece of wire etc that caused the flat.

    Best tip is the hand position at 7:55 which centers the back tire while tensioning the chain.

    Thank you so much for making this video. I was very well done to show someone that has never done this before, exactly step by step how to change the tube in a back tire.

    Thanks for the video. My bike tire has been flat sine 9/21. I didn't have anyone to fix it and I didn't think I could. But today, with the help of your video. I changed both tire tubes, all by myself!!

      You're welcome dude! Yeah I'm the same Stephan as in the video, 8 years later and still in the industry (but with a different company) I could certainly make a much better video addressing the points Robert mentioned above ;-)

      Yes, I wondered if you have any suggestions in place if a tire lever. Perhaps a dull flat head screwdriver? Also, how do you measure for the size of tube to purchase before taking it apart?

    I have 2 beach bikes both with 26x2.125 tires. Why is there a HUGE difference in the physical size.? The one on my old Huffy are balloons but on a China made Murray they are no bigger than 175s or 195s.

    I have 3 complements for you, thank you so much for the video, I think you have a pretty mouth and love how you wore your pants like a man. Now for my question what size chain is on the bike. This is the first time I am doing all this and the bike was given to us from moving neighbors and had no chain to compare to.

    He doesn't say anything about "seating' the bead of the tire to the rim. My brand new bike from BeachBikes blew out the rear tire because it was "seated" properly. I had rode less than 10 miles.

    • @thedude2278
      @thedude2278 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Rick, you only seat the bead on tubeless tires

    It is admittedly less important on a bike of this type, but it's a bad habit (and unnecessary) to use a tire lever to remount a tire. Also, you refer to proper chain tension, but fail to explain that the proper tension is to have minimal tension at the tightest point in the rotation of the crank. Robert's comment below is also critical if one does not desire another flat soon.

    I am sorry, but whoever is recording is really not that good, because they're not even aware of what needs to be seen and I can't even see some of the steps because he is on the wrong side of the tire. Other than that, the explanation was good.
