I can't ever hook into a fish with a spinnerbait or chatterbait so far. I kayak and use a spin rod mh but I use mono line. I put a swimming fluke jr as a trailer. I get bites but when they hit the surface they are gone. Also a flashy swimmer and a fluke. I just got some offset round bends to try on the fluke today because they work great for me on a t rigged craw or worm. Ewgs I have problems.
