Ernie Ball strings are the biggest shite strings you can buy. I used to swear by them and every time they break... like two weeks after restringing. If you want strings that can take a beating, go Rotosound. Seriously....
Hey Guys hope u can read this one. I've just had my ML-1 Pro come Friday. I'm loving this guitar. Few guys already jealous. Since they can buy them in Australia. I think I got second last one. It rocks from clean to pumping. On fender 65 deluxe reverb and the ad30 special edition 2009 twin vintage speakers. I just love the pedal. Keep them up. I think I might have another when can save my military pension. The sunburst guitar you have. Love the case with Chapman guitars on it. Need some stickers or a tshirt or 2 XXL. Love your videos with the captain.
Richard Harrold I agree man, I didn't envisage it being a regular thing... Personally, although I think it's funny, I got bored of it ages ago too.. But most people seem to enjoy it and if I can inject a bit of extra smile into the day then I'd rather take the risk of over using an idea in the hopes that someone gets a laugh out of it! (P.s. Not sure if 'give it a break' was intentional but I appreciate the pun either way!) 😀
This is true, however virtually anyone building a pedalboard incorporates at least an Ernie Ball VP Jr. if they use a volume pedal. I appreciate the complexities of running a successful business and Anderton's does great reviews. Just some light trolling.
They did also do the (now sadly discontinued but excellent sounding) Ernie Ball Wah Pedal, which I'm very much enjoying recently. Same design (a wah in a EB volume pedal package). They too were very expensive when they came out but you can get 'em used nowadays for less than new dunlop or vox wah. Well worth a try.
Literally been doing this delay effect for years with a EB Volume pedal used with my TC Gmajor2 via my midi board. Cool to see they came out with a independent pedal for it for those who don't have a rack fridge!
I think the Captain NAILED IT when he used that gain pedal. I think it would really fit that dynamic bluesy style, or hendrix-esque mixtures of lead and rhythm.
The delay looks to be very useful. There have been times when, depending on the song or the jam, I wanted to alter my delay volume, but couldn't without bending down and turning knobs as I play. I eventually went to rack delays and midi controllers so that I can set the same delays at different levels and step through them on the pedal as needed. The Ernie Ball pedal allows that kind of control out of a pedal. Impressive. Nice delay sound too.
On Between Nothingness and Eternity by Mahavishnu Orchestra, John has a volume pedal before a cranked out distorted amp and it gives the effect of this overdrive pedal, so that may give you an idea on how it can be used. Check it out, it is massive!
Having a buffer in the pedals is a great thing. I'd put the drive first in my chain and have mostly true bypass pedals, that buffer will restore my line signal at the front of my board.
Morley had the FX Blender which uses a fade in/out to any effect you put in its loop. Its kinda like this, but you could put in your old tube screamer or a mesa flux five for the overdrive stuff, or TC Flashback or hof for all the other.
The delay sound awesome! I like the idea of just "set it and forget it" and if more is required just use the expression pedal a little. Quick and very natural imho.
Yea they're right. It needs a "Trails" switch or possibly one each for reverb and delay so you can choose to have it trail out or not - that would be really great.
Could you guys be anymore enjoyable to watch? Seriously the most fun and positive place to see all things about guitar! Thanks for the good vibes guys! PS. I laugh every time something is dropped and glass breaks 😂😂😂😂
I can see that delay pedal working well for the ending solo to "Feel like making love" where the delay seems to be very present in some parts but rolled back in other parts.
@@dizzyastr989 It comes in it's own shoebox. Heck yeah. I just ordered the delay one to be here today from sweetwater. I paid 75$ for these one to now I have 2. I like the overdrive petal. I got a really nice blues tone with it with nice lead sound. I also got a rock metal setting that's cool to. I like the swells you can do a bit with it. The delay gonna be fun. Now I need a tap tempo thingy. I also was thinking getting the tremolo one but it's still $150 bucks. I want a Morley wah wah petal or something like that.
I like the idea of overdrive in an expression pedal format, it could really work for certain subtleties in songs without the on/off effect you get from the usual stompbox. Perhaps not suited to Metal or Hard Rock, but I feel that with the styles that the Captain played in when he got a go of it would be really well complimented by this pedal. I'm thinking more of in a live playing scenario as opposed to recording, but that is just where my very limited experience lies.
I like the idea of the pedal. It's like an easier and more practical equivalent of rolling down your guitar volume. I would have a ball with it during a jam session rather than a song maybe.
So what I would say, for Rob's "things to change" segment, You can get trails with the Ambient Delay pedal, But you would need to get the Tremolo expression pedal and use them together. I tried the two at Sweetwater's GearFest in 2019 and it sounded great. Just an idea
A cool feature of the delay would be to have the pedal control the input level to the delay engine. That would allow the repeats only on certain notes and they wouldn't go away when you back off the pedal. I think that would feel a bit more intuitive.
Have you guys done a string comparison video? identical guitars setup with different strings to see if there's any reason other than feel to choose your type, size, and brand.
Kenny Baker ( r2d2) lived just up the road from where I work, met him a few times, even got my copy of phantom menace the book sign by David Prowes and himself lovely chap! sadly missed 😥
Interesting. The expressional delay reminds me a little bit of the sustain pedal on a grand piano. You can either play purely dry/clean, or use the pedal to cause more over-ringing of notes; kinda like Rob was doing in the composition he played.
Don't forget it's the 30th anniversary of the death of one of Metal's best Bass players! RIP legend Cliff Burton! I'm' sure he would approve of these video's :-) \m/
Hey Chappers and Captain! You should review the Bluguitar AMP1. It sounds great! I'd love to hear what you think about it. Awesoome job with all your videos! Cheers.
Andy Birger This is a great idea! Way to go Ernie Ball. I am now expecting many pedal makers (or the ones having the budget for it) to start implementing it. For what I hear, the Ernie Ball drive sounds like a very promising pedal. Thumbs up! 👍✌️
ILKO ILIEV - ESD I've actually been thinking about an expression overdrive/distortion pedal as an idea for years, never got around to searching whether one exists. I'm pleased to know that there is at least one company doing such a thing, and many will surely follow.
I think a minimum gain and a higher max gain would be cool. Could set the min to a clean boot to tighten the rhythm sound, then have the max set to add a nice saturated lead overdrive.
Rob mentioned that he thinks the ambient delay expression pedal would probably be better suited for ambient situations, but we didn't really get to see nearly as much of the pedal in that context as we did in the lead guitar situation which kind of stinks
These guys as always were dead on. I went to the guitar center last night. I tried out the Overdrive and Geeze there was like no swell or in this case hardly any of the inbetweens..Just a tad of overdrive and a bit more..Nothing I couldn't do with my volume on my start a bit. I didn't try the delay, I just bought it anyway (I can return it if I like). I think I'mn going to take my effect pedals (what few I ever use) and put a volume pedal before it. Kinda control all the effects at once and turn off the ones I'm not using. I wish they made the Overdrive with more....Overdrive and in-between. That being said I am having a lot of fun with the delay. I love these guys. Hilarious.
This concept would be great on a Fuzzface-type circuit- where you might be able to control the input signal and get the ideal gain for the sound you want- rather than relying on the guitar's volume knob.
The delay is a cool idea, but I think Chappers is right - the pedal should control the send to the delay (rather than the mix at the output) so you can just dip in little hits of delay on specific notes and let them ring out. Would love to hear what Rabea would do with this actually...
99% certain the delay one was actually inspired by Steve Morse, as he has been using volume pedals to control his delay mix forever... As for the drive version, I can imagine it being great in front of a Plexi-style, dirty clean to crunch amp, to get it from light dynamic crunch to high gain and everything in-between. Anyway, it's cool to see some company offering something that's not simply a 1000th rehash of the Tube Screamer and actually something that's pretty original (even though I vaguely remember some 70s pedal company actually doing something along these lines)...
I actually saw Al Di Meola use one of those overdrive expression pedals on a classical guitar. I think I wouldnt have survived that concert if I were an old man with a weak hart.
The really important and unanswered question is "What shoes are those, Lee??" (not Rob's, those are Vans Sk8-Hi Reissues. The Captain's leather kicks.)
It's funny because as soon as I saw this I thought I would get a piece of wood so I could do both then I thought I would so use the delay for chords not lead to make the chords more dramatic post lead or super heavy initial chord delay and slowly back of into a solo. That delay is definitely more practical than the over drive. You might as well just get a real over drive peddle it doesn't make a big enough difference to even taper onto
Suggestion.... Do a Mythbuster style review, Chappers & Captain blindfold and Someone else plays guitars at different price brackets using same riffs, same amps, same settings. The question being.... can you tell by sound alone which is which? Say under ... £200, £500, £1000, £1500, £2500 & Unlimited
Ok guys... After a lengthy argument with a friend of mine we've come up with a new blindfold challenge for Rob and Lee to try out. (my apologies if it's already been done) The old argument of Maple vs. Rosewood fingerboard. His argument is that he prefers rosewood over maple. MY thought, however, is that with how advanced all the other tech. in instruments has become (tuners, neck joint/mounting, nut materials, bridge, saddles, electronics, pickups... ) that there probably isn't a very noticeable difference anymore. We went to (local music store) and tried a few and couldn't decided. Get two Strats, two Tele's, identical in every way but one of each has a maple fingerboard, and one of each has a rosewood. The maple is slightly noticeable because it feels smoother. But just the sound, sustain... We couldn't tell. SO... Rob and Lee don't do the playing. They're blindfolded and just have to listen while someone else plays.
I wish the overdrive had a bigger sweep and it'd be nice if the mids became more pronounced as you added more gain. Dynamically controlling the drive is cool but you'd probably get lost in a live mix trying to use it as a lead boost. The delay is cool conceptually but there are other options for delays with expression control (that are more flexible too) that'd I'd go for before this. Cool concept but it could use some tweaking before I'd be interested.
Rob do you like that guitar? Considering in buying one! I played one the other day and loved it but it was far away from where I live so I won't get another chance in a while. How well do you like it?
I may be wrong, but I don't think the expression part is meant to be used as an effect. I think it's meant to be a variable boost based on the song that you're playing. ie: going from blues to ACDC to 80s hair metal and everything in between, without having to switch pedals. Maybe use it in the middle of a song if there's a change in tone. It would be great live, and cut down on your pedalboard drastically.
I feel the same way about the trails. Would be a lot more useful if the pedal controlled the effect send rather than the level. Every mixer in the world has this capability, I can't see it being that hard to implement it in a pedal.
My Strymons and the volume knob on my guitar makes these pointless. Also it would be better to have the expression pedal on the delay assignable to repeats, level or time. And at the least it should leave the trails intact by effecting the input signal to the repeats not the output signal. I am an ambient guitar player myself and I cannot see a use for anything that cuts off my delay trails.
"Ernie ball, known for making the strings I like"
*Rob, a D'addario artist, stays silent*
The captain say that, not rob
Leonardo cant read.
haha i just read it again, i didn noted the comma.
its alright mate no hard feelings just had to bust your balls for it
Ernie Ball strings are the biggest shite strings you can buy. I used to swear by them and every time they break... like two weeks after restringing. If you want strings that can take a beating, go Rotosound. Seriously....
i've always wondered why most pedals are just on and off - makes much more sense to be able to blend effects in and out as you want
Yep, we ("still") definitely need a new channel - ChapmAndertons - for all the uncensored blooper reels and whatnot...
Anderman and Chapperton?
nobodyhere Or that :P
***** Not in this video perhaps, but there are at least several censored moments :P
Chaptain Anderlord

My how times have changed. This was such a tiny studio and now look at where you've grown to. Congrats, guys!

I'm sorry Rob, but you in shorts always makes me think of dads in porno's for some reason.
Dad as fuck.
jesus christ tone it down a notch.
too much Internet bud
as someone currently in bali and under an ash cloud and in shorts with a sleeping wife......i would love some wife porno right now hehe
Man, I did this ten years ago with a DS-1 and a Dunlop Wah shell.
Make a video?
Your conversations are so lively and entertaining. Thanks for keeping it going! You guys do it so well. No other channel like this on YT!
The Captain's playing in this is so cool, it's subtle but awe-inspiring
The beauty of these pedals is how they are adjustable on the fly for cover band guitarists. They aren't really to be used like wah pedals.
Hey Rob, been waiting for the starter guitar pack comparison. Cant wait to watch.
A tremolo with expression pedal, now that I would buy!
They make that too lol
someone´s having way too much fun editing these...XD
You've no idea! :D Glad you enjoyed it!

Diego Leiva i´m 36, but i wouldnt call myself "adult"...
mcl40000 I thought about that myself after I pressed reply... maybe 31 years old was enough? :)
Ernie Ball has made what is probably the most common volume pedals in the world. C'mon Captain and Rob, do you even guitar store?
This is true, however virtually anyone building a pedalboard incorporates at least an Ernie Ball VP Jr. if they use a volume pedal. I appreciate the complexities of running a successful business and Anderton's does great reviews. Just some light trolling.
I think somehow he wasn't counting Volume Pedals as 'pedals', even though it's in the name ; )
I think they meant effect pedals

As usual you guys did a great job of presenting these products. Ultimately though, they're a solution to a problem that doesn't exist.
Always nice seeing a new chappers video being uploaded when browsing the youtubes
I think the Captain NAILED IT when he used that gain pedal. I think it would really fit that dynamic bluesy style, or hendrix-esque mixtures of lead and rhythm.
gold and rose gold pedal? what next? shiny jet black pedal that comes in 128gb or 256gb models?
Dani Pramudita they wont have an output jack
Dani Pramudita I just died😂😂😂
METAL GEAR REX but I'm sure Bluetooth 3.0 will just as well right? 😂😂
Emil Cindahl RIP
The delay looks to be very useful. There have been times when, depending on the song or the jam, I wanted to alter my delay volume, but couldn't without bending down and turning knobs as I play. Man, you guys are SO cool. And your videos are always so informative. Love all you guys in Dorje. Cheers! :)
The shine on them is so COOL....
Looking forward to buying the distortion one.
I was literally thinking that I want an expression pedal of gain less than 10 minutes ago. I get on youtube and what do I see? Destiny.
Christ, there's just something about Music Man and PRS guitars which give me hope in the industry.
the only problem is that they are really uncool, and that prs guitars sound pretty bad
Well they are maybe not that cool like an Jaguar!?!?!?!? But do defenitly not sound pretty bad, except played from a bad player:-) Like you????
dont really get what you're trying to say, but the prs stock humbuckers sound really shrill
I was stocked when PRS announced CE24 coming back this year, but they've just ruined the model completely. My hope in the industry is lost once again.
Gard Høydahl There's definitely nothing shrill about the 85/15's in my Custom 24. Those pups are great, and the guitar is a work of art.
that face Rob made when Lee told him it's not true bypass xD
that face rob made when lee said you can just use a wah randomly and it sounds good
What was that face for? Did I miss the joke?
Damn Rob, back at it again with the colourful Vans.
On Between Nothingness and Eternity by Mahavishnu Orchestra, John has a volume pedal before a cranked out distorted amp and it gives the effect of this overdrive pedal, so that may give you an idea on how it can be used. Check it out, it is massive!

Idea for the next video: what SHOES do you wear for optimum pedal tapdancing and style? Both of you rocking epic kicks in this one.
Chapman is playing my favorite guitar
Yea they're right. It needs a "Trails" switch or possibly one each for reverb and delay so you can choose to have it trail out or not - that would be really great.

At £210 I might give these a miss. Sounds great though.
Holy shit, that's a lot of money!
think you can buy one of the mr black pedals and plug an expression pedal into it
$75 now at Sweetwater
@@mikejr8604 I just bought the delay for that reason, I had been waiting forever for them to keep dropping in price. But its definitely worth it now!

I would love to see these guys give an overview of fenders latest offset series. Duo sonics and mustangs.
I wish the delay had an input for a second expression pedal to control the delay time
Or even the feedback
There's a tap tempo input.
BigFatCock but it would be sick to change the delay time while playing at the same time
Not the same, I'm talking about using an expression pedal for a seamless, sweepable change in delay time.
That's a pretty specialised use. When you change the delay time while you play the pitch gets all screwy.
Have you guys done a string comparison video? identical guitars setup with different strings to see if there's any reason other than feel to choose your type, size, and brand.

Ok guys... After a lengthy argument with a friend of mine we've come up with a new blindfold challenge for Rob and Lee to try out. (my apologies if it's already been done)
The old argument of Maple vs. Rosewood fingerboard. His argument is that he prefers rosewood over maple.

I would suggest that they makr the treadle assignable to different parameters beyond that of the level.
Maybe it's a way if changing your pedal settings between songs without having to reach down
get the drive one for free by using your guitars knobs?
that would kill all your sound.
the exp. pedal is just for drive volume. your dry sound remains intact
Let's see you shred while fiddling with the volume knob.
damn! those are some nice shoes, Lee
Ernie Ball's had pedals around for YEARS though, the volume pedal's been around forever pretty much!
