. Happy Easter dude. I just planted two foxtail palms a week ago. Can I fertilizer them now and if so what do you recommend I use? I love you channel your knowledge is priceless! Thank you kindly in advance.
Great content, you are super knowledgeable. Add more tags to your content specific to the video. Palm pruning, specific names of the palms you cover, get really specific in those tags. Thank you for making this. I just bought a property with a ton of palms on it and this video is excellent. You are awesome.
Very informative video. Just had new landscaping done. I'm about to fertilize and wondered if I have to lift the protective plastic covering on top of the dirt before I put the fertilizer; I'm using granules.
@@EarthWorksJax you are welcome. You should do a video on the different "cuts" of Palm tree available. Diamond cut vs. Smooth trunk and other options. That would be informative and helpful.
Thank you for this video. Amazing information and great delivery. Can you please shoot some recommendations for a coconut palm. What type of granule would u use? Also anything eles tíos would help thank un!
I have a question, you are very knowledgeable about palms. I have a 60-70 foot palm in my yard actually 13 of the them, but I noticed one of them wasn’t growing as fast. The leaves and spear seemed to be browning. I was told to add epsom salt, fertilizer for palms and baking soda to the soil. I added those but realized the epsom salt I added had eucalyptus oil in it 🫣 will that hurt it? And what do you recommend for my palm. They are 80 years old at least.
I just planted a 6.5 gal queen palm here in northwest Florida. I mixed a bag of miracle grow - cactus, citrus, palm soil with the ground dirt and created a water retention ring around it and watered it well. The higher elevation in my yard helps the soil be well drained. Any other recommendations for me other than maybe putting some mulch around it? Thanks so much for any help. Love the videos.
Loved the Video , very Informative, I have a question about Revitalizing the soil in a 20 gallon barrel where a 6 foot Bismark Palm tree has rooted itself. I have been contemplating using Vermicule & perlite at the top of the soil so it eventually soaks into the soil. I have no intention of removing th ep[almt tree from the barrel for the next year or two until i can acquire land to plant it. SO my only alternative righ now is to just reinvigorate the soil as best i can so they can absorb nutrients.. The palm trees have for sure rooted in the entire barrel so these no way for me to remove and replace soill. The water is soaking into the soil 2-3 seconds after i soak it weekly so the soikl does have a thic sandy consistency, not mud, which is a positive thing, i thnik i can extend its life, Any advice is welcome
Great video, however you might want to give people a heads up with the AG spray since it's got iron in it. Overspray can stain like the dickens if you get it on concrete or block. I actually just bought a gallon of the stuff.
Good morning, very good presentation. One question. I have a sylvester Palm. It was planted two month ago, I'm worried about the lack of greening. I live in central Florida. What do you suggest?? (2 feet bark)
Phoenix sylvestris, genetically have a golden orange color in the leaf bases and leaf stems. At times this coloring, can be misunderstood as a nutritional deficiency, however it is not so! Be sure to look out for Magnesium deficiency and Potassium deficiency which can develope if the palm is not fertilized every three months!
Hi, thank you for all of the information. I live in Southern CA and was wondering if the suggested 20-20-20 fertilizer is the “go to” regardless of where in the US one is located and the soil type. Thank you.
Great video again. You mention magnesium deficiency in Fl soil. What about Manganese which that deficiency causes frizzle top on queen palms? Is that as common as magnesium deficiency?
Via David: Magnesium deficiencies are more common and frequent in Phoenix palms, like Phoenix Canariensis and Phoenix Syvestris. This can be seen as yellow on the borders of the palm leaves, on either side of the rachis. A Manganese deficiency will show short, necrotic deformed leaves in the center of the palm, particularly in the new growth! The leaves will also appear to have been burned as the end are brown. A Maganese deficiency is a more severe deficiency, that needs to be corrected in a timely matter, if left untreated, the palm will decline rapidly within several months, whereas a Magnesium deficiency can persist for years without killing the palm.
I'm in Phoenix, AZ and we seem to love queen palms here. Manganese deficiency is a major issue here with them. I recently bought a bag thats 15%mn, 5%mg and 15%s. There isn't a decent looking queen palm almost anywere you find one, they do not like the heat, the soil or the lack of nutrients.
@@datsuntoyy I understand that for sure. Where I live we have the same deficiency. What I did was not only fertilize with normal palm fertilizer but also use Manganese Sulfate Monohydrate Powder from Amazon. You can get 3 lbs for around $20 and it will supplement that mineral specifically so you dont get frizzletop. You still need to feed the regular palm fertilizer because manganese isnt all you need obviously. But that is a great way to help the palms with manganese specifically.
Hi thanks for video. I have Pygmy and queen palms. I live in corona California. I have a drip system. Not sure is this is the best irrigation for my palms. I’m concerned with applying fertilizer with a drip system. Would I have to hand water to get the fertilizer to sink in? My palms look weak.

Just bought a house and I noticed it has 2 palm trees that need TLC . Thanks for this video
If I add extra liquid fertilizer or Palm tone, can this potentially burn the palm tree?
Palm tone is organic so burning will not happen unless you go completely crazy with it.
If you have applied Palmtone and now you want to do a liquid fertilizer that is totally fine. I mix and match synthetics and organics. Dry organics usually takes some time to break down so I kick start with some basic NPK fertilizer like a 10-10-10 as well.
