Do you not get it? I've just said that heavy doesn't = good. Obviously that doesn't mean that heavy music can't be good. I just find a lot of brain dead idiots who hear top string riffs and cum in their pants because they're too insecure to listen to anything remotely melodic and beautiful.

+Vinicius Airton The bass guitar helps a ton by playing higher up, it gives the heavy sound backing the guitar riffs by tracking behind the riffs being played. The bass is also tuned well on the drums
+Laurence Buckley One thing that may make a higher tuning sound more "heavy" is the scale length. The shorter the fretboard is, the more loose strings can be at the same tuning as guitars with larger scale lengths. This allows the picked notes to detune more before they reach their actual pitch, because the attack of the pick causes the strings to bend at a slightly larger length than when they are more quiet. Sorry if that explanation is a little confusing. I know for a fact that SG's (which one of the guitarists appears to be using) have a shorter scale length. I'm not too sure about Josh's guitars scale length though.

The fact that Josh is both the lead guitarist AND vocalist is amazing. It's not easy to play some of the riffs/solos that he can, and it's even tougher to play guitar while singing. Respect to him and this band. Hope they keep it up.
When Josh (The guitarist) became the frontman this band became so awesome.
I love those mid-range vocals. It's all highs and lows anymore, so it's refreshing to hear someone differentiating themselves.

Sorry matey, I listen to bands who can actually be clean and melodiousand this particular song is meaningless to me and I couldn't listen to it. As far as the solo went it left me empty and unfulfilled. To each their own
***** I listen to many a different types of metal and know exactly what you are saying but to say josh is not Clean and Melodiousand is obnoxious. Maybe not in this particular solo but have you heard a ton of his others??
Also, this solo is meant to have that evil, hypnagogic feeling that the song has, especially contrasting to the sweeping section which is a hypnagogic loop.

I just discovered these guys, and they're blowing me away with every song I've listened to thus far.
I can’t believe it took me this long to discover these guys. I hear everything in here from master of puppets/and justice for all Metallica, gojira, as I lay dying, pantera, slayer, Iron Maiden, and even some black metal when it comes to the atmospherics. I’m really impressed by how seamlessly they blend so many genres and generations of metal and yet still make it their own.
This song from 1:50 to 2:40 reminds me of Gojira in some ways (in a good way!). Love this band though!

I saw these guys live with (I think) Lamb Of God, In Flames, and Hellyeah. They put on a good show, didn't realize they were with Nuclear Blast.
This band has raised the standard of metal for me. I've listened to a lot of metal and usually it's one member of the band that sort of stands out and the song is built around that individual talent but everyone in this band pulls their weight. These guys blow my mind.
After all those years, still one of my favourite metal songs. What a masterpiece!

I'm a new fan, got all their album now and they are beyond doubt a standout metal band among all other new and old bands... killer metal!
Stuff played on the radio is for the masses. It's all commercial which makes the music very accessible to anyone right away. The difference between music on the radio and this is this type of music actually has depth which can make music last forever.
Coming back to this in 2023 after they've just released Deadwood. Man is Josh an insanely versatile and underrated musician. Super diverse and precise vocals while being one of the best rhythm guitar players out there and writing such tasteful leads as in this solo. Truly remarkable!
No offense to Mastodon or Baroness. I love those bands as well, but Sylosis just has SOMETHING that I haven't heard from any other band...
They make E Standard sound like Meshuggah. Josh is an incredible guitar player and he writes great riffs and solos, he also sings really well. The drums as well sound so tight and in your face.

I love this band, this song is a testament to their greatness. Reminds me of Metallica on heavy steroids, kinda like the stuff that Tim Lambesis took minus the putting a hit out on your wife side effect.
