Think that contract is bad. Got promoted to Championship bought a good at the time striker, put him on a 4 year contract and amazingly got promoted to Prem straight away. Hadn't noticed when I signed the striker he had a match highest earner clause, when I started signing players in the Prem his wage went through the roof, originally he was on £2000 a week but now with 6 months left on his contract he is not even making the bench for my U23 team and and earning £275,000 a week
This is why it's extremely important to look at everything in the contract and also to try and keep the wages down as agents or players will always try and get the biggest deal possible, so it's up to the manager to keep it down so it doesn't hurt the club's finances.

When I read "Worst Contract" I thought of it from a player's perspective, lol. Since I play LLM and suck up regens, I often get Wonderkid-ish players on utterly shitty contracts for 6-7 years, hardly any bonuses, clauses. Sometimes I literally feel bad for them, 1K signing fee, ~10k/a for 6-7 years, 5% increase per year, nothing else for 160+ PA players.
Zealand man, I've been playing Football Manager (and championship manager before) since the 90's, but one of the best things to come out of that game is your channel. Incredibly interesting and freaking hilarious. KUTGW, I hope you continue making videos for a long, long time.
Be strong in regaining trust. Freeze them out for 4-6 games then slowly make bench for another 4 games and bring them on a couple of times. Worked for me a couple of times, just remaining strong.
Love these videos! I did a Cukaricki save in FM20. I got to the UCL group stage in my 3rd season. Our best success in sourcing good starters were the non-top 2 in that league and nearby countries with manageable release clauses. We got good squad players from Africa (didn’t load the league) and our youth system (poured money into it). Good luck!

Trust is easy to regain if you regularly praise players for their training, or criticize them when they are being lazy in training, and praise them to the max in the media. If you aren't on the short end of a contract feel free to hold on to angry players for a season to see if a couple of trophy's convince them that their bitchfit wasn't worth having. Once you get a good general feeling in the lockeroom you can often use the option in conversations that says something to the like of "you won't find a team environment like this..." to generally get your way out of trouble. Hitting the praise button under the training reports might seem monotonous- but it builds rapport with your players.
Old comment but I went from adversarial to very close with Calvert-Lewin in I think a little over a season through mostly just through training praise, match praise and the like after I refused to sell him or give him a new contract
@@man4437 Yeah this exactly. I can't tell you how many times I've turned down big transfers and had to deal with a bit of a tiff. That thing with the scoutingassignment is just a label "problem" if you manually instruct your scout to scout for players, in specific age, potential/ability, it will label in the overview of scoutingassignments that you are scouting for squadplayers even if you are looking for hot prospects if you have it customized.
I just started a save that I like to call "the hardest yet". I started unemployed, with no managerial experience and no licenses. I have been hired by a team from the second division of Gibraltar. So far great. The most curious thing about the game is that I have a mod without attributes (I only see colored lines, which give me a slight idea of the player). So I have to be guided by my coaching staff. Let's see how far I get in the save.
I remember that time a Sunday league side wanted to sign me. When I popped into the local pub to discuss contract terms my value went from 3 pints of Guinness to £1.2million + Add ons. amazing what happens in England
Worst contracts I'VE ever seen are always my own manager's contracts. I generally walk after getting a team to the top tier, because managers who were relegated get better wages than me. ANYWAYS.... Dude, for the first save (Eintracht), Zealand is absolutely right. Your cheapest wonderkids are going to be in South America outside of the big 3 (Argentina, Brazil, Venezuela). Where is Matias Arezo from? That's right, not the big 3. The third save I love because in my Malaga save, Barca sold me Gavi for 1 mil. He was my AMC for two seasons until I got Yusuf Demir (then Gavi moved to midfield alongside Nicolo Rovella).
@@Kimera794 Cost wise. Those three nations tend to ask the most for their young talents, in my experience. I can gut the rest of South America for pennies but those countries tend to put the highest values on their youth. It's been a while (FM18) since I've even focused scouting there though. The deals in Uruguay, Peru, Chile, Colombia, and Paraguay are just too good. Especially when running a Spanish club.
It’s always tough to “take the next step” from being a Poland league winner or Serbia or whatever. The next step obviously being competing for a Champions League. It’s not only hard to get the money but it also can be hard to keep players. I swear you can be winning in Poland and getting to the Champions League group stage every year and I swear you’ll have players who want to leave to go play in the Championship...
The start of this video gives me flashbacks on some of the players i've had over fm saves... a suriname winger i got on a free called roel verwey who got one goal and twenty-one assists on loan, a legendary bolivian keeper called marcelo juarez and the time i got a colombian winger for 230k called oscar aguilar and sold him for 99 million
16:13 an idea with Busquets is to press him to do coaching badges and then 2 years into the deal offer him a player coach contract which will be less cash
I know this will sound like a jackass move for a coach, but one of the options when talking to a player that wants to leave is: No teams have showed interest in you, lets talk about it again when concrete offers show up. I abuse this option, and not only it will silence the player for now it might actually improve their moral and he will drop the issue until the next market window. On the next market window I just do the same and keep doing it until an actual offer comes through or I want to actively sell the player. At that point I set a fair asking price for the palyer that he agrees on and we are both happy with it. If an offer of that value comes he can leave if it doesn't he can stay. I managed to keep key players in the squad happy for 3 years with this strategy. This also works if you are trying to wait a bit more until you renew a contract to a palyer you want to keep, just dont do it for such a long period of time, maybe 1 year or so. As long as no teams actually come along and make an offer you are good and the player will be happy. In real life I would never treat someone like this, in a game, hell yes I will. Some players think they are better then they actually are and you can mess with them a bit.
This title really reminds me that player contracts and values in general don't get talked about a lot in football like at all. You see it all the time in the NBA, NFL, NHL, MLB whenever free agency rolls around or when star players sign contract extensions.
To be fair to the Barca manager player, Busquets has had poor acceleration, agility, pace, stamina, and strength since he was 20 and still has managed to be a solid DM for his entire career. If he can do it was 10 pace at 20 years old, he can do it with 6 pace at 38 years old.
Actually Busquets is one guy, in both real life and FM, that could still be good when he is 38. What makes him good, again both in game and in real life, is basically completely centered around his intelligence, his positioning (among the best in his positioning all time), passing and a certain kind of ball skills. He’s always been damn near immobile. More so in game than in real life. Although he’s never been anything but slow in real life either. I don’t know. I mean what stat that makes him the player he is will go down with age? Although it’s still a horrible contract of course. Partly because I don’t think Busquets, even in his prime, at his peak, had ever really translated to FM properly. (I mean it’s not as bad as in FIFA. Lol. Where the guy had like a 88 rating but was one of the worst players in the game he was so bad.) I mean he’s not bad. It’s FM, not FIFA. But I don’t think he’s worth his price and you have Pedri... I certainly wouldn’t tie him up with a long term contract.
I’m in the same situation as the last guy. Just got promoted to the danish superliga despite being a favourite for relegation for the league below the previous season. Somewhat of an accidental promotion. On top of that, even in the division below the superliga I was the only semi pro team i.e my reputation is super low. Now in the superliga the club has turned professional but I can’t even loan the necessary quality of players because even they don’t want to come to my club. I’ve literally got 18 year olds sitting in b teams telling me they’d rather not join my club. I’m currently bottom of the league with half the season left. I think it’s a RIP for me.
In my barcalona carrer mode on I sold all my old players in season 1 but kept Messi signed Reyna and converted him into a CDM Sancho Converted into a RW and I was smart by getting sancho on a pre contract and paying £50 Millon for Reyna my regens and youth academy talents got game time in Cup games and some where loaned out swapped ter Stegen for Oblak signed buffon as number 2 keeper for Certain European games some Domestic cup games and less important league games.
I’m curious what everyone thinks about resigning Christiano Ronaldo at 37. I’m in a juve save right now and he is requesting an 80+ million per year contract, and I’m debating if it’s worth it to resign him instead of signing someone along the lines of haaland with that money.
Question, isn´t it possible when searching for "squad" players in Africa that a potential wonderkid might show up? A 17 year old who could be a squad player now? I know the propper procedures to search for wonderkids, was just curious as I have actually never tried to search for a squad player amongst 15-18 year olds. I am going to try and search for fringe players between the age of 15-17 year olds in Eastern Europe, if it does come up with just one, that´s a signing. Stupid idea but going to try it anyway.
I managed to find a wonderkid midfielder from Ipswich for 30k€. They refused to sell him without a 40% profit on next sale clause though, but I'm not ever planning to sell him. An exception to the rule I guess.
Ok someone help me out here im very confused. at 2:07 he zooms in on a thing and is very upset about it, but what exactly is he zooming in on? just looks like hes zooming into the inbox button

@@Kimera794 as a venezuelan, I would love to know too how are we there wtf
What happened? Did we become good and I didn't notice xd
Venezuela its a big 3? Lmao
Good job managing that impromptu concert at the end, Reese!
mans is like FM's Gordon Ramsey; very critical and blunt but knowledgeable.
Gotta add this song to my playlist LOANS
How does this guy not have at least 10 mil subs? He's class
Oh God, those contracts at Barca. Loved it
Can’t believe I’m watching Zack Morris talk about football manager
This comment is horrifically under appreciated
The start of this video gives me flashbacks on some of the players i've had over fm saves... a suriname winger i got on a free called roel verwey who got one goal and twenty-one assists on loan, a legendary bolivian keeper called marcelo juarez and the time i got a colombian winger for 230k called oscar aguilar and sold him for 99 million
Bringing out you're inner Hector Bellerin with that jumper 🔥🔥😂😂
That Busquest deal...he is trying to be SAF with Giggs and Scholes?
Now That is a proper Zack Morris sweater!!
The Rick and Morty bit at the end was fantastic!!
15:14 the drunk busquets signing had me dyin 😂
The Old Messi really floored me I did not expect that 😭😭😭
16:13 an idea with Busquets is to press him to do coaching badges and then 2 years into the deal offer him a player coach contract which will be less cash
Maybe the leagues you watch, in Portugal it's definitely a talking point
Come for the content, stay for the shirts!
To be fair to the Barca manager player, Busquets has had poor acceleration, agility, pace, stamina, and strength since he was 20 and still has managed to be a solid DM for his entire career. If he can do it was 10 pace at 20 years old, he can do it with 6 pace at 38 years old.
3:49 mate you just caught me lacking, I was about to ask that question lmao
Ahahahaha the old pics of Busquests and Messi made me laugh so hard
Lol homie in control of the Barca save sounds like the reason they’re in financial trouble right now
Absolutely love these vids 👍👍👍
LOAN!!! xD Felt so bad i couldnt watch the stream last 2-3 days because of work... looking forward to more streams
liked the video in the first few senconds just because of the jumper
This ended like a Rick & Morty cable advert lol
With that low voice on the "Loan-song", you could totally cover Chocolate Rain!
Future Liverpool manager right here
I finally found the video. We need a damn full version of that song!
loans.....loans......LOOOOOANS. Damn that ended too soon.
16:45 Mad production values
in serbia you cant have more then 4 foren players, thats the problem at cukaricki
Can we please get the Loan Song as a solo video?
If that contract is bad, what about the time I accidentally gave a 18 year old prospect 9 millions per year?
Thank you for the notification Vanessa
Instantly heard the Save By The Bell theme song in my head when I saw the jumper
What skin do u use and what graphic pack with it too please? I like the layout of yours alot
This is the base skin! All I know is he uses the DF11 facepack
Zealand heading up the Jorge Campos appreciation club with that humdinger of a sweater.
The Zealand barbershop quintet looks incredible
In my barcalona carrer mode on I sold all my old players in season 1 but kept Messi signed Reyna and converted him into a CDM Sancho Converted into a RW and I was smart by getting sancho on a pre contract and paying £50 Millon for Reyna my regens and youth academy talents got game time in Cup games and some where loaned out swapped ter Stegen for Oblak signed buffon as number 2 keeper for Certain European games some Domestic cup games and less important league games.
thats why i always get rid of promises on contract talks, especially the find loan one, if no one offers to loan them they loose trust in you
I’m curious what everyone thinks about resigning Christiano Ronaldo at 37.
Zealand is the most creative TH-camr ever
Hilarious edit, Reece 👌
You made my day!
Zealand is what the kids call "dripped out" today
I have a dortmund save that needs saving. I've not touched it in weeks. How do I get in touch with you? Can't get over the UCL hump.
LMAO at the ending, somehow we all knew this was coming but damn, did Shannon impress us or what
I managed to find a wonderkid midfielder from Ipswich for 30k€.
It was supposed to be on the balance but it got shifted in the last editing change
