  • The Studebaker had style. 1961 was the last year for the fins. Look at the front end. Note the separation between fenders and the hood. These cars were low and sleek. Everywhere I drive this car people stop and ask questions and give the thumbs up or wave. When is the last time you saw one? This is one beautiful car. The Studebaker has only 59,000 miles. Check out the original interior. Note the "Fasten Seat Belts" sign on the dashboard. The man I bought the Studebaker from had the hood come up while driving and it promped him to restore the outside. He spent about $15,000 with new paint and chrome. It's beautiful. I have a great book he put together with all the bills. The engine is a 259 V-8. Automatic transmission. The Studebaker has Twin Traction rear end or positraction. Manual steering and brakes. The only thing I had to do to this car was install a new water pump. I just got this in and I've only had a chance to drive it about 100 miles. I really like the way it drives. The only change I would make to this car would be to add radial tires. Old School Garage has serviced and safety checked it for your driving pleasure. Cond. # 2-.

    I drive a 1958 Silver Hawk, the hood came up on me once, luckily it was before I had the car painted. I had the hood repaired, (there is a kit you can purchase to reinforce those joints) I then had a mechanic friend design a chain apparatus to lock down the hood when I drive now, I call it my Keehner apparatus. Great video, beautiful car.

    I'm an old gear-head from way back and I have seen many car demonstrations. In my book this is the
    best presentation and demonstration of a car I have ever seen. I appreciate the honesty of his pointing out
    imperfections that we cannot see very well on our computer screens. Well done!

    Hello Geri! I'm impressed by your quick response and indeed I have just watched you Bel Air video thinking it was even better which just what you say. I'm in England and car sales videos here are at best a few still pictures merging into each other. Your films are a real change to selling old cars and I've put a link to them on my Car Club website. As I said, very well done! I've added your website to my "favourites" tab.

    What an excellent way to demonstrate a car! A warm, interesting and careful way to show what is for sale. Very well done and most "classic" car dealers in the UK could learn a lot from it! Excellent and deserving that the Studebaker has found a new home.

      I t is at least a decade ahead in auto design. My cousin had one around 1964. It was a Grand Commander with a 400+ cubic inch engine and it got around pretty good I think that he might have put a pair of 4 barrels and a low flow dual exhaust.

    So, I as assuming that the Studibaker has sold since it has been 15 years since the video was made. If so I would be interested to know if you might have another available.
    Thanks for any help you might be able to assist in this matter.
    Sincerely,

    How much did this one sell for, just curious?
    The ‘61 Studebaker Hawk is my absolute favorite car! I saw one at Carlisle PA Car Show 3 years ago & I fell in love!! I regret not buying it for their asking of $8500. It would have been a dream to restore! This one you had is pretty awesome! Love the colors black & red!

    A '61 US market car should have one of the two versions of the 289 engine. Single barrel carb? Something is definitely amiss with that car.

    • @glorialondon5054
      @glorialondon5054 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Albert Carello They did have paper elements for air cleaners, long before 1961. Many people considered oil bath units, superior! Yes, it should be a 289", with either a 2, or a 4 barrel? But, the only way to tell the difference between a 259", and a 289", is to measure the stroke. But not too many people want to mess with that, if they've already been told something. Who knows, what might have been done to it, at any particular point in it's life? You just can't see, what's going on with the carb, well enough in the video? I know, Studebaker never made a 1 barrel intake manifold, for any of their V8s! Who knows, what some one may have been able to adapt, to it? Maybe I'm wrong, but he seems like someone, who should be able to tell, the difference?
