- Right, ok, time for another overgrown yard cleanup. This property is actually next door to the property I did in the previous episode. When the homeowner saw what I did next door, she thought to herself - that's what I need! She actually approached the homeowner next door, as they are friends, and he let me know that she wanted a quote for some work. When I went over, I didn't think the property was all that bad, but decided to do it for free anyway. Was I wrong though with the amount of work that was required! I ended up doing 12 hours just on the front, with 3 trips to the landfill. I couldn't do the back, as the homeowners son said he would finish the back. Before I started this job, I walked around with the owner, and she told me exactly what she wanted to do. In the end, she was very happy with the result and started to plan for future plantings.

Q: Where are you located?
A: I am from Hobart, Tasmania, Australia 🦘.
Q: Do you worry about snakes?
A: I have never even seen a snake in over 5 years on the job.
Q: Which equipment do you use?
A: Mostly STIHL power equipment (battery and petrol) and commercial Honda self-propelled mowers.
Q: How much do the jobs cost?
A: Sorry, I prefer not to talk about costs.
Q: Why don't you use tarps instead of bins?
A: Tarps are too difficult to move through small spaces and lift into the trailer. The same for wheelbarrows, they are only good for unloading the trailer!
Q: Why are the hot water cylinders outside?
A: I would say it's because Australia had a temperate to tropical climate, and therefore it doesn't matter that much if they are outdoors. To me, though, it seems a bit inefficient to have them outside in Tasmania with a temperate climate (coldish for 3 - 4 months per year). But that is industry standard down here 🤷♂️
Q: Why don't you have help?
A: I've had many problems with employees in the past, so now I work alone.
Q: Why don't you have a ride-on mower?
A: Well, there are a few reasons.
1. I don't have the right trailer for a ride on, considering I always take away the green waste.
2. I don't have anywhere to store it, as my shed is too small.
3. A lot of the properties we do have fences and gates, so you can't actually get a ride-on on to the properties.
4. I don't do enough big jobs to justify spending 15k AUD on a stander, but it would be nice to have one!
5. I will get one as soon as my transport and storage problems are solved.
Q: What types of ladders do you use?
A: The large one is a Gorilla Adjustable Platform 150kg and the small one is a Gorilla Mighty 19. They are both adjustable.
Q: Who/what is Jim's Mowing?
A: Jim's Mowing is a franchise business. The Jim's Group is the biggest home services franchise in Australia.
Q: Why do you have 2 channels that seem to be the same?

George, I really loved this transformation!!! She now has natural light in her home, and can see out of her windows. I don't think anything about this job was too drastic. The sidewalk cleanup amazed me. I thought they were a stone path, and you uncovered much more clear space for her to walk on. She is much safer now. I truly believe that you have the BEST channel on TH-cam. You are such a hardworking man, and you put 100% on every job. The homeowner loved what you did, and she got exactly what she wanted. She's happy, you're happy, and if some viewer aren't happy, well that's their problem. YOU DID GREAT...AGAIN!!!!

It’s seems to be amazing how far down one has to dig to find pavement! In this and past gardens. Looking at this yard, it’s like there is some breathing room now! Almost all gardens can be improved and many people need help. I think this one was really overgrown and way beyond the owner's ability so choosing to gift her a free makeover is fantastic!
Another super episode. The extreme pruning is a win-win-win: improved safety (reduced walkway and driveway overhang as well as eliminating power line issues), security (better view from windows and reduced the number of places for animals, insects, and humans to hide), and aesthetics (smaller bushes and trees helps to make the home look tidy, well-kept, and newer as well as bringing more natural light into the interior). Removing lower branches also helps to reduce the accumulation of wind-blown clutter. As usual, your description of the plants and animals rounds out the story and gives it a comparable context for those of us who live on another continent and are fascinated by the nature in your area. Also, your video editing and musical choices make watching an almost cinematic experience. Very nicely done, George.

I feel the same way! Wouldn't it be great if he did a special video of the properties that were hard pruned so we could see that the properties were actually really improved by the severe pruning? We all love his work and remember some of the properties he's done--there was one last week I think where he cut back around 8 rose bushes. I'd love to see them next year! Great job, George!

Hi, George, you glorious wonder. It's so nice to get a bit of Australia more than 15,000 miles away. What I like about this channel is the notification during editing, the labelling of the various bushes, plants, flowers and trees that you cut back and the various bird/animal life that pop up. I look forward to that and regard it as an added attraction of this channel, at least, for me. Hint: perhaps right at the beginning of the pruning?

I like and appreciate your attempt to introduce different camera angles showing what's involved in your work, e.g. when you stand on top of the pile of tree branches in your truck to compress it down and make room for more. And showing us the landfill drop off process plus the machinery that the landfill operator uses, is an extra treat to your usual content.
