  • Higher performance applications call for higher performance hardware - enter the industrial PC. The industrial PC is nothing new, but the latest generations are really quite impressive. Tune in to learn more about applications for industrial PCs and what you need to know about them!

Could you talk about the RAID configuration on the Automation PC 900?

Regarding to maintenance and repairs, you mentioned PGA port that it be inserted inside the IPC , if you would please explain more about this function?
    Thank you

I design applications for Industry, like you said mainly for Machine Vision Applications, such as showing results to operator, or custom timers to show feedback on line operations, or QR Code Readers ect..... Enviroment conditions on the places I've worked don't really need any special hardware. We can say it's a normal environment. So using a regular computer hasn't brought me any disadvantages but one, downtime. It's nothing very serious, it's not much it's just kind of a computer restart. I still don't know why this happens but it sometimes happens where the computer simply decided to restart, it's probably an update on drivers ect..... Will switching to Industrial PC eliminate this downtime? What will be different from the OS that will prevent this? I'm sure I can make some adjustments on a regular pc to lower this downtime, but how will buying an Insutrial PC benefit me in this specific area?

Industrial computers or PLCs are controlling deterministically and you can audit events which happened. So if the restart of an industrial computer will occur, you can look at a reason why and you can repair the behaviour which made the restart.

You could also consider using an OS version designed for these types of applications (e.g., Windows 10 IoT) which will eliminate some of the features in the standard OS but improve stability and reduce memory for installation.
You can also consider looking into something like HORM which can improve uptime since the PC restores from the same point on each boot. Many OSs have a feature like this, but have different names for it and different limitations.
