I'm just a homeowner on a 1/4 acre lot - Last summer I upgraded to the quality mower I've always wanted - a Honda HRX217HYA. My previous mower (a bare bones craftsman) worked great the 12 years I owned it but wanted to buy the top quality mower I'd always wanted - while I still could so I sold it and uprgraded to the Honda. No regrets! Battery mowers might work for some but I love quality gas powerered outdoor power equipment. No worries about running out of a charge halfway though the job or obsolete batteries and chargers after only a couple years. I'm confident my Honda mower will last decades and I'll still be enjoying it long after these electric consumer mowers are in the landfill.
I bought me the HRX217HYAA in the December of 2021. I couldn’t find the mower anywhere locally, so I ended up driving 120 miles 1 way to get it. The dealer actually gave me a great deal on it because he said he wanted to get rid of it for new inventory. I was told later he didn’t get but about 1/4 of what he ordered in new inventory. So he was bummed he gave me such a good deal on it. Love the mower for my steep slanted yard. Cuts like a dream.
I purchased a Honda HRC 21” Commercial Mower back in 2015. Best walk behind I’ve owned in my life. I’ve ran many mowers over the years, glad I own one and will be sad to see an end an era. Honda Small Engines are remarkable especially GX Engines which this mower is equipped with.
Honda mowers disappeared in my area by July 2023. The model you’re talking about disappeared winter 2023. That said when can you show the new Stihl gasoline push mower?

Honda stepping out of this market is definitely causing some pain. Glad you are enjoying your mower.

It is sad to see them go. I keep hoping something changes. But it doesn’t seem likely.

Apparently, that was something that was always on their radar. In fact I met with engineers about it one time, but they never did proceed with that.

Discontinuing gas mower. Honda just launched battery powered lawnmowers for North America. And they are EXPENSIVE! Lame.
It looks like they’ve done the battery power mowers properly though. But it is going to be a challenge to replace their gas products

This is the HRC216, will mow circles around the HRX 217 models. This is the commercial mower, made to be ran 8 hours a day 7 days a week.
