- I've had the Seafood Chowder Meal Cold Weather on my MRE review short list for ages. I think this 2021 MCW had the most food I've ever encountered in a US military ration. The freeze-dried Clam Chowder main was certainly one of the best I've ever tested and the side items were all top notch. The MCW is killing the game in terms of American Military food.

I bought a couple cases of MCW'S in alaska this summer and so far this is the best meal.

got some good stuff in that one especially the marble cake. first time i have seen the ramen in a mre also. more & more off the shelf components making the transition into mres. now i got 2 cold weather mres on the list. the other is spagettii & meatballs.
Eaten many standard MREs that had been frozen while training in Wisconsin and Michigan winters. Never got any MCWs. I can see how freeze dried food would be superior, if there was hot water available. Some times it's not.
We've been very much enjoying and catching up on your excellent MRE reviews ever since we found your other channel a month or two ago. You do such a great job. It seems almost sacrilege to say so, but we enjoy your MRE reviews as much or perhaps even more than the venerable Steve 1989. Great review. That ration was making my mouth water. As you said it looked super filling. I wish I could get a case of MCW rations.
It's always sad when they discontinue the really good mains. I like clam/seafood chowder meals too.

I live pretty close to the mountain house factory.
This was my favorite ration when we did cold weather training and didna rotation in Norway for cold weather operations in the USMC. If you can get your hands on the breakfast skillet or chicken and rice (available at walmart) i recommended that one
I love clam chowder and in the cold it’s a game changer, definitely not something I’d have thought would be a ration though.
This is an awsome ration it's always sad to see such a good one get phased out
The Seafood Chowder MCWs are on sale on the Mountain House website as of 03/22/2023.
Stack 4 big buckets of mountain house and your good, and stack it in a corner.
ALWAYS add a couple less oz water than on directions!

@@ReadinessRations That looked like a good one I like seafood. How are you getting the MCWs, I can only find the regular rations where Iam at? I live in Michigan and the only time I had them was when we did two weeks one time in the winter up at Grayling.
Absolutely fantastic MRE, so of course they discontinue it. Probably cost a few pennies more than the crap they could otherwise serve.
