Taking it off the page is actually an adaptation of the Meisner Repetition exercise. If you treat the script as your partner in the repetition exercise, it's purely instinctual. Stay in the repetition and express whatever hits you in the moment. This is what I've learned from the exercise.

Thanks. That was helpful watching the process especially with some lines that didn’t immediately generate something usable. I need to practice more with the technique and remember to breathe.

I'm reading this book. But I'm confused where Harold talks about physiacalizing the image. I'm having a hard time understanding this concept . Could you please explain it to me with an example

Love the videos Sasha. I’m definitely going to have to try out this book. Have you heard of the book Backwards and Forwards by David Ball? I think you would enjoy it.

Thank you, Maggie! So nice to hear from you. How have you been? I haven't heard of Backwards and Forwards but I will check it out. Thank you for the suggestion!

I have tried this and it is very effective.. just a question though. Is this in itself the whole craft?.. As in taking off the page, if done correctly, for the entire length of the script, will that suffice as far as preparing the character is concerned? (Along with making some adjustments wrt the voice/ body posture/ rhythm/ other sundry demands the director might make in the context of his vision)

I’m confused about the technique. I get the breathing in and out. Where I’m stuck is, after you breathe in and out, do you speak the line on the exhale without taking a breath? Is there enough breath to say the line? Or, do you breathe in and out, take another breath in and then speak? I’m confused.

Don't feel bad, I was confused at first too🙃. You got it right though - you breath in and out while you're reading the line to yourself (or just a word, whatever feels right at the moment), then take another breath in and speak on the exhale. Hope it helps.😊
