  • It's 1905 and a married couple, Alice and Henry Thomas, suffer through a loss.
    This has been a 2-month long one-man-project, with acting support from my dear girlfriend.
    The project have involved creating music, filming, acting, editing, CG, costume, sound design and a film script.
    Excepetions:
    A clip(at 2:13) of two children running about comes from olia danilevich on Pexels.
    Technical:
    Camera - Original BMPCC (Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera)
    Lens - Panasonic Leica 15mm F1.7
    Filetype - RAW-format
    Aspect Ratio - 2.35:1 (1920 x 816)
    Resolution - 3840 x 1632 (upscaled 4K)
    Editing software - DaVinci Resolve
    Image - 35mm film emulation using Holy Grain
    Music - written and produced in Cubase, using mostly Native Instruments Komplete.
    VFX - smoke, blood stain, gravestone.
    Sound design - Epidemic Sound library.

    That og pocket cam was phased out too soon by Black Magic.

    Man there is something to the OG bmpcc that I can't see to emulate on my 4k. Amazing.

      I think a big part is the “motion cadence” of the original, the way movement looks on the image.

    You got some great images out of the OG. Good story telling. Subtle but powerful.

    Man you know how to capture a vibe. Hints of “Assassination of Jesse James”… and a dash of “Power of the Dog” in reference to framing. You capture melancholy with taste and class. Bravo.

    I'm usually not commenting on videos, but the work you do is criminally underappreciated.
    Am I wrong for getting Keaton Henson vibes from both the scenery and strings? To me at least, you've succeeded in creating an atmosphere that I've never seen anyone but Keaton himself pull off, yet you do it in an original manner. Just stunning.
    Thank you so much for sharing.

      Thank you very much!
      Keaton was an early inspiration when I started out with music so it wouldn't surprise me if one could trace such influences.

    Damn, this is so far beyond anything I could even hope to make right now.
    For instance, how did you achieve the deep focus shots?

    • @OlleElias
      @OlleElias  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thank you! Using a fairly wide angle lens simply closing down the aperture. As I acted both filmer and on-screen performer, I had to set myself as reference by reversely focusing on where the camera would be placed, if that make sense.

    amazing.... it's just film like. or say even better... I wonder did you use denoiser? or any speedbooster? b/c when I had this camera, even during evening time, I used to have too much noisy grainy footage. please guide.

    • @OlleElias
      @OlleElias  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you! No denoicer or speedbooster. I used the Panasonic 15mm Leica fully open at f1.7 and filmed in RAW.

      @@OlleElias shooting raw, is huge files basically… if you had used prores hq, would you have achieved the same?

    • @OlleElias
      @OlleElias  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@milanjani I don't think so. The increased dynamic range available in postproduction makes RAW preferable for me personally.
      It also has some benefits grading-wise.
      As for the files, I use a Sandisk 512 gb 95mb/s which gives me a few hours of recording time, and then edit my footage straight from the card reader.
